@aliwhitwell - I can't disagree. I had the benefit of driving my buddies and daahhaamm was i shocked of the power. I was well aware of what was under the hood but didn't expect it to pull like a total freight train.

@stanglmeier I doubt very much your car is faster. The muscle Merc is a quarter of a tonne heavier and weight is the number enemy of a car. The Jaguar is all aluminium. The Merc is all steel. But I will concede the Merc does sound better; sounds like God has caught his foot in a bear trap

@peanuts2105 when i mean much faster im talking barely faster, according to jaguar 0-100 is 4.6 seconds and 1/4 mile in 12.7 seconds mercedes says 4.5 seconds and 12.5 second quarter, just stating facts not hating at all, i love supercharged european v8's. The weight is an issue for me from above 200km/h i will agree.

Jaguar often understes performance numbers.

XKR is definitley faster than an sl55.

Your car is by all means very nice, and very fast, its just a fact that the XKR is quicker.

@stanglmeier - Trust me this car is not a 12.7 1/4 mile car.... Car and driver has the 2010 xkr at a 4 second flat 0-60. I drove this thing before and theres ZERO doubt in my mind these specs listed by Jag are waaaaaaaaaaaay underestimated

@stanglmeier -You cant take these specs literally. Give me a few min N i'll find an article telling me your amg is 4.2 0-60 N another article where its 4-9. Just as I found this for the Jag "The XKR Coupe is blazingly fast for a luxury car that weighs 3,865 lb. It's rated to accelerate from zero to 60 in 4.6 seconds, but I consistently clocked my test car at 4.2 seconds.Car N Driver magazine got a time of 4 seconds flat" on businessweek

@stanglmeier -- Your sl 55 amg outweighs the xkr by 400 lbs w/ identical crank HP. How does your ride pull SO MUCH FASTER..? Sorry to bust balls but that doesnt seem logical. I could see the amg take the xkr from the dig b/c of its weight and higher torque but up top your amg isn't pulling SO MUCH FASTER. If anything the XKR will walk you. In addition why is the amg a NICER engine? Its more shiny? lol The Jag has more valves and is a double over head cam to the amg's single

The Environment issue is a just a great excuse to raise more revenue via taxes to send abroad. Cows do more harm to the environment in the UK than motorists do.

@SDpadresSD Maybe you should try Skip Barber or something to that effect...They teach you how to not flip cars that are almost impossible to flip by staying on the road in the first place.
