I do the same thing, stand my ground and yell @ the dog, if they try to approach. Running= best way to get bitten. Sometimes just changing your direction and not coming into the dogs territory or making eye contact is all it takes.

There is no guarentee that ANY breed of dog will not attack; small or large. I am an owner and advocate for the bully breeds. I agree they are genetically dispositioned to violent tendancies. Lifetime training and obedience is needed for the bully breeds (and preferally any breed). I just wish people would look at a dog on a individual basis vs an entire set of breeds. Most people will say... that is a 'pit bull' when it has no APBT in it! Not all dogs are the same!!!!
