seriously, i cant believe i havent seen this. i dont think ive ever seen video of them playing this. and its amazing. if they play this on the upcoming tour, i will die happy.
they sound so awesome live. but i don't usually like the recorded versions of Thrice's harder songs as much. the vocals aren't as intense, and the guitar doesn't shred like it should.
As soon as the Vhessiu came out or whatever the fuck that album was called I stopped listening to them. They were so hardcore and put on the sickest show around back in the day.
@carrera500 To your comment about them being a whole new band: They actually said that they look at themselves as a new band. They're experimenting with new sounds and styles and, if they could, they would change their name. I'm paraphrasing there, but that is the gist of what they said during the interview for the House of Blues DVD.
damn i remember this gig, totally blew me away, way better than coheed and cambria who headlined. thrice were nice enough to give me a ticket for the sold out show. AMAZING BAND
Agreed! Saw them in Glasgow on this tour, they blew C&C away. No one really cared after Thrice... That Vhiessu tour was just freakin awesome. Shame we've had to wait since!!
the lightin is so good, it fits in perfect with this song. ive been to many concerts and thrice is still my fave band to see live. hopefully they came to my area when they start touring in november for their new release, Beggars.
Hey carrera500. They're experimenting music. muhlbilizer is right. They're making the music they want and you cannot do anything about it. You're just bitching and whining.
if that what you mean then DONT USE the term Sellout to define Thrice, a sellout band is a band that their first interest is the money, and Thrice puts the music & fans first, its good that they are not playing the same old stuff over and over, Alchemy Index is a good evolution.
Thrice says they dont advertise their religion because they dont want to be looked at solely for that purpose. just about half if not more of their songs are based around elements of Christianity though. Many of them arent obvious because they are taken from works by C.S Lewis

Dustin swears in Don't Tell and We Won't Ask. He doesn't refer to it in a biblical sense, so that only leaves the other version, but nobody's sure if that's a swear or not.
Obder, we're talking about their discography, not this specific song.
haha, yeah they have biblical refferences, but this soo isn't christian metal... but I think I know we're you're coming from, you're thinkin of like Underoath, thats christian metal... but this band Thrice, they swear in some of their songs, so they're not really christian, they probably have christian perspectives though, so who knows aye
hmm unless I mishead a word he said, but I'll find you a song (if there is a song with swearing in it) and I'll comment ya, send me amessage so that I can find your account easier
their christian eh... not christian songs like gospel but their practicing christinas so they have respect and play songs that everyone can listen to no matter their age or sex and not be offended
"poetic punk." Ditch the Christian ... Or even philo-punk would explain their myriad references to philosophers, such as Descartes, Nietzsche, and Thoreau.
the music trascends in time, 4-5 years an d now is good!...ALWAYS!,
and thrice is different than the others bands cause they composed all type of music, the other bands are just basic and the people that cant hear anything but screams is fucked up. thrice have all, screams and SO MUCH MORE to give to the world.
Learn and listen, and read the lyrics by the way, there are just a few bands that write so good as dustin does.
its incredible how you think that a song that lasts 4-5 years transends time. Mozart transends time. What is good is good regardless of how old or new it is. If something is "good" for a year but then sucks it was in fact never good at all.

Sorry, but they lost me at Vheissu. Ive loved thrice since the when pop goes punk days and yeah guy below me your right...minus the fact that what they wanna play now is BULLSHIT!!!
omg get over it, they cant keep putting out the same album over and over again. it's fine if you dont like it, but it's not bullshit. I'll agree that fire and water arent the greatest musical albums, but if you open your mind to vheissu, you might find that it is more of an amazing musical experience than artist or illusion.
Bands like Thrice don't die out because their sound keeps evolving over time and their not afraid to experiment. They play the music they want to and they don't care what anyone else thinks. Thrice is their own genre and their definatley not emo. I'm gay for this band and I can't wait to see them Nov. 10.
triviumlambofgod....while i love trivium a shit load i love thrice too, and they are completely different from bands your thinking of. they have changed a ton like thricexalliance said but you have your opinions and thats cool but thrice rules and so does trivium!
@deathbya7x two totally different style bands. Gates and The Rev are more refined and technical while Thrice has more feel and dynamic. Teppi couldn't play in A7X and Gates couldn't play in Thrice. Both are talented, and both come from the same scene.
theyve grown so much during the past years...from identity crisis to vheissu and alchemy index. seriously you cant fit them into 1 genre so "this kind of music" you speak of is peoples ignorance. you have your opinion but im speaking what i know and i know a lot of people agree with me on this topic. also im not hating on you so dont get all booty hurt like a lot of these people would.
Thrice is this generation's pink floyd, led zeppelin, eagles. Their music will stand the test of time and years from now our children will be listening to their albums thinking they're the greatest thing ever as well.
"this kind of music"...you cant fit thrice into a certain genre because their they dont worry about keeping their music into a certain "mold" of what people think it should be. if you think thrice is emo then you need to go listen to some hawthorne heights. Dustin speaks of religious views and things that matter to him in life...how is that emo? They write what they feel, like most musicians.
