Thor would've been a mediocre film, just so many things lifted it up from that. And the biggest of those factors is Tom Hiddleston. This is just such a stunning piece of acting.
This is by far my favorite scene in the entire movie. Loki was the best character in this movie because of his twisted story of betrayal, deceit, revenge, and 'death'. Damn I can't wait for his return in the Avengers. The shit's gonna get real.
I an't wait to see how Tom is going to play Loki in the upcoming 'Avengers' Movie. He was so full of conflicting emotions in this scene, it brings a tear to the eye. he's going to be such a good bad guy...
Such a great performance by both actors. The cry in the midst of this scene seemed so natural and heartfelt, like a child just yearning to know the truth...golf clap to you, Tom!
Tom is the only actor in this movie I actually understand what he says. The other are like "son ....... truth...... " or "My......!" Im always like your what? o.o
The thing that made this movie for me was that he turns blue. The other giants look so evil with blue skin and red eyes, but when Loki turns blue I just wanted to hug him.
He just look so full of sorrow and you could see how much he hated himself.
I almost cried at this scene! Loki is my soul mate or my alter ego haven't quite decided yet, but anyways. I love this movie and I would watch it every day of my life so I could memorize it then I would drive my family crazy by quoting it all day long. My LOKI really needs a good hug and quite night's sleep. poor little guy, =(
I kinda got curious...and turned on the CC transcribed audio thing...you know...the captions >_>;;...
All I can say is...when Loki is asking him why he didn't tell him from the beginning (at 2:08), according to the captions anyway, Odin's answer was simply "msn".
This is a cool scene, he was really good in this movie even though it was a bit short and they really could of filled it out more. I wish they'd had more dialogue in this scene before his father like...fell asleep on him...lol it's quite funny actually, having a really deep convo and then zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
As soon as I found out kenneth branagh was directing Thor, I knew the acting would be awesome. Sure there were going to be the usual fight scenes and fun special effects, but the drama between Loki/Thor/Odin is what I was most pleased with.
This scene is so poignant, so tragic. It's the first time you truly see the depth of Loki's pain. The sad part is that there is no lack of love in Odin's family... they just do everything wrong showing it. Odin even tries to reassure Loki of his affection, but I don't think Loki hates his family as much as he hates himself, and that is a far more twisted pain to unravel.
LETS SING ALONG! aM I cursed? What more than that? The Casket wasn’t the only thing you took from jotenhiem that day, was it? Lafi’s son… Why? You were knee deep in joten-blood. Why would you take me? NO. You took me for a purpose, what Was it? Tell me! what. So I am no more than another stolen relick, locked up, here unitl you might have use of me You could have told me what I was from the beginning, why didn’t you? What because I’m a monster who parents tell their children about at night?
the way he says the line "because no matter how much you claimed to love me, you couldn't have a frost giant sitting on the throne of Asgard." always makes get a bit teary eyed. Tom really did amazing at portraying that hurt and betrayal Loki felt. Poor thing, It's hard not to feel bad for him through the whole movie

I expect the Marvel writers will try to turn Loki into a full-fledged villan, but I hope not. He's troubled (obviously) but not downright evil, in my opinion. He is Also, blatantly intelligent, defiant, witty and intricate; with a slight potential for sociopathic tendencies. Loki is indeed an interesting character.
@MsVanzz He is so deliciously complex. It kind of reminds me of the opening sequence for The Talented Mr. Ripley when it shows all the various aspects of his soul... The Mysterious Yearning Secretive Sad Lonely Troubled Confused Loving Musical Gifted Intelligent Beautiful Tender Sensitive Haunted Passionate Talented Mr. Ripley
@enedving Thank you, someone gets it. It's naive to call him "evil." Don't let the maniacal laughter fool you. He's really a wounded kid, not a strategic and cold thinker.
Loki... Tragedy follows in his wake like the ill tides of an endless ocean of woe. Somewhere, buried in the depths of his confused and twisted heart, he still loves his father... In this scene you can see it in his eyes. For just that briefest of moments Loki hovers on the edge. In that fleeting second he can either forgive and become more than he is, or allow the hate and anger to forge his future. Sadly , tragically, he falls into furies thirst for retribution. A lonely path towards doom.
Although I liked previous Marvel films like Iron man and Spiderman I think they really hit their stride with Thor.
They've managed not only to fully realise a fantastic world with colourful trappings ala Flash Gordon, but also make it a very personal and human story.
They've treated each and every one of their characters with dignity and respect.

All the little emotions in his eyes and face. The part where he screams "tell me" makes my heart twist every time.

The Frost Giant's Casket reminds me of the Triforce of Wisdom from Zelda.

Loki: What Am I?
Odin: You're my son..
Loki: What more than that?
Odin: Well, you're also a evil version of the Avatar from Pandora.....
Loki: O.O What the Hell?

This was the scene that sold Loki's character to me. Tom's acting is just brilliant!

Excelente actuación. La escena es conmovedora, se puede sentir el dolor, la decepción, la desesperación. Loki es EL personaje de la película.
