Financial Peace University, Cash Flow Planning, around 26 minutes...Ramsey jokes about spousal physical abuse, specifically a "black eye." I can't believe in our day you can get a cheap laugh from a religious audience (maybe ONLY from a religious audience).

Same thing happened to me, but in reverse!
One day my divorced father met a lady at a social tennis game. They went out until three years later, they were married! Then they had a baby girl!
After that my dad's wife demanded that he sign over his entire house to her in his will, kicking his first three kids out of it. Half a million dollars worth today. And he did. I have lost enough money to stop renting and she is literally a millionaire if he passed way. God works in miraculous ways!
Wow this is really amazing. God sure showed themselves through these people, and obviously you were meant to have that adoption =D. God bless you and the people that opened your lives.
Wow, what a geat testimony. I was looking on Youtube to find things to share at the Financial Peace Class I am teaching tonight. I will be sharing this. My wife and I have "Changed our Family Tree" because of the principles of Dave Ramsey. Because of the class we too were able to adopt without incurring any debt.
I agree. My wife and I started FPU, and did 10 of the classes, but then the classes started getting 'churchy' so we stopped going. The Dave Ramsey info is phenomenal, its just a shame that the message is trapped in religious mumbo-jumbo.
It's not religious mumbo-jumbo. Dave Ramsey is a known Christian and even in the beginning of the class in the first lesson he talks about tithing and giving and the ultimate goal of giving of oneself and how being Financially Free compared to the beliefs of the world today and living like no other. Giving is the ultimate freedom we have. When we get financial peace and get out of debt, we can give with love and bless others. That's what it's all about. You obviously didn't understand that.
Religion is mumbo-jumbo - its like alcoholics anonymous for the spiritually devoid, but the message about finances that Dave preaches is invaluable. He does talk about tithing, and giving - but that has nothing to do with forcing one's belief systems upon anyone else. Giving is the ultimate freedom, and one day we will be there, and we do understand that. We are just smart enough to also understand that attending a religious event is not a way to achieve that goal.
Listen, we all have our own beliefs, I'm not trying to force anything on you or anyone else. What i'm trying to say is that it's very obvious from the class that Dave Ramsey is a Christian, these are his beliefs, you knew that going into the class, so 10 weeks into it, you don't have a right to complain because you decided to ignore the fact that these are his beliefs from the beginning. If you don't like it, don't take the class, or take it, but don't complain. That's just stupid on your part
It wasn't his beliefs or anyone elses, it was the people who are teaching the course that Dave teaches. I dont want or need to argue this point, we are both intelligent. His course is great, it wasn't until our course leaders wanted us to start bringing a bible, and making a 30 minute prayer study routine to bring and discuss at the end of each class that we stopped going. Its a lesson in finances, not christianity. It makes no difference what dave belives, we just wanted the material.
That's pretty hilarious that a FAITHLESS person labels the FAITHFUL people as being "spiritually devoid." Someday when God reveals Himself to you, you'll be wondering who that lost and confused person was.
Who's Faithless? Faith is the same thing as Hope..Most Chirstians have had the Hope.. er.. sorry.. the Faith that God was coming back one day.. or at least sending another 'coming' .. that has yet to happen. Still hoping though aren't we? God has revealed itself to me, and its spectacular. Its just not ever something you can read about in a book, or learn at Church. Ever. Period.. You come to know God through experience, not what a book tells you.
Faith and Hope are NOT the same thing. God has never gone anywhere....He is there for anyone who will open their heart to Him!!! I read your other posts and I'm sorry your FPU group turned it in to something it is not supposed to be..the program is not supposed to be a Bible study, but Dave Ramsey does also not shy away from his belief that the Bible is the foundation for his program and for Christians it ought to be a guide for them and how they should handle God's resources.
This is a GREAT story! We are also doing Dave's steps and we also plan on adopting! Thank you so much for sharing this, it really has touched my heart.
Without Jesus these people would never have done something like that. Not to say those that don't believe don't do good things but these people clearly were compelled by the way Christ taught them to live.
BS. There are good people all over this world, with or without a belief in Christ. And no, it was not clear that they were compelled by the teachings of Christ. Only that they felt compelled to help their fellow man... something that many of us do (or attempt to do) every day. They could have just as easily been Buddhist or atheists or Rastafarian. No one group of people has a monopoly on goodness.
you don't believe in God. What ever. That's fine. This is a Dave Ramsey video. Dave Ramsey is a proclaimed Christian so I'd assume the people in this video that he describes that goes to his church are Christians too.
So pick you fight elsewhere.
Where did I say that one group has a monopoly on goodness? If you actually read my post you will see that I affirm that everyone can do good and you don't have to be Christian to do something good.
wow, this guy leads worship for me at my church for the highschool kids. he is such an amazing guy and i had no idea about any of this. gosh im gonna go hug him next time i see him, this is so awesome!
