Ok so I see an issue with smp giving away whats happening through lag.

Cool trap, must be a mother to reset though. You have to reset the pistons, the sand stacks, and the movable crush blocks. >_<

Curious, what happens if they lay a bunch of dirt blocks while it's closing in to attempt to jam the trap?

This is super difficult having a wall of 4 pistons, instead of 2. Another problem I ran into was the loop only looping a total of 3 times, instead of endless. I copied your video distinctly and it just doesn't make sense.

1 flaw in this i can see is standing on the pressure pad for long enough to fill the loops, making it not loop and not close.

if you were to use a block raised by a piston to complete the wiring leading towards the loop, inverting this piston cuts the line. Doing this stops it from filling the loop with power if a mob stands on it, or if they dawdle. Easiest way to do this is a tight loop with minimum delays on repeaters which then inverts the said piston indefinitely.
