Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful. I love them, love them, love them. Thank you. They have so many beautiful songs. I have been loving them for more than 30 years. Jill Saward has a voice from the heavens and Bill Sharp and his team can write music like no one else. Have you heard their song, out of this world. wow. Thanks again. This music never gets old.
@Situation29 Yes, this is a wonderful rendition and singing performance of an endearing Jazz classic. Although Jill Saward is and was Shakatak's primary singer and sang lead on most of their classics, the lead singer on this particular song is the remarkable, silver tongue Lorna Bannon. Lorna went on to carve out her own successful singing career primarily in the UK. This was the only recorded song she did with Shakatak as far as I know.
so many memories come to my head, i was just in my 20' now the time has pass and i still remember everything from those days, who nice it is to be alive and enjoying music..............
OH! Yeah! Me imagino ubicada en una terraza en la playa, desde donde se vislumbra el paisaje lleno de luz, la brisa en mi piel, y un vestido vaporoso tomando un martini de lichi!!!
Quality ! First started following Shakatak in '84 and have probably bought everything they ever released. Don't know why I never heard this track until recently tho'. Lorna Bannon.....top voice.
You turned the light on my life You brought the sun with your smile You chased away all the clouds And I could see for a while And although I never thought it could be such a funny thing has happened to me 'cause your love has lifted me right off the ground And I thought it couldn't happen again, So I closed my eyes and counted to ten When I opened them your love was all around
Fantastic. I grew up with these guys. They dont make them like this anymore. So enjoy it. Now we got annoying noise such as rap which they dare call music
I've enjoyed Shakatak ever since "Easier Said Than Done" first came out, but the more of their music I hear, the more I realise how criminally underrated they are. This is a wonderful track.
Just wonderful, relaxing, jazzy sounds. I've always loved Shakatak and all their vocalists, but I wish Lorna Bannon had done more with them. She sounds SOOO good here.
I was teaching in the late 70's and early 80's Shakatak was love before I knew what love was. "Light On My Life" Cheryll Rothery my first love in high school, she was in college (Mount Holyoke College)
OMG! So many great memories come rushing back! Fave Shakatak song. Thanks for posting... Is this the only video available of this song on YouTube? I guess Shakatak didn't make music videos back in 1984...
Timeless ~ Thank YOU :)

Who's the sax player on this? Sounds like Dick Morrissey (ex-If, Morrissey/Mullen) but I don't know if it is.

@hooptyhee1 - you're right about morrissey - another top saxophonist at the time was grover washington jnr with 'winelight', if you get the chance...

@hooptyhee1 - you're right! did you catch winelight, the album of grover washington jnr happening around the same time?
