1a-Yes, it's incredibly difficult to verify each statement, but we have to make the effort for the sake of our nation, our children & the world since a barrage of seemingly pro-American claims is an effective tactic to win support. You think teenagers aren't capable of being terrorists too? Like their age writes them off? Any who have been detained have been so because of their violent actions against American troops. The Supreme Court has recently decided to give habeas corpus to those detained. However, even if they didn't, how exactly does our constitution, guarenteeing habeas corpus to US citizens do the same for foreign militants who target American troops and innocent civilians?

How would YOU like to be incarcerated, interrogated and tortured without due process of law. You're making the assumption that all are guilty before they're tried. Even though some are being held because someone in thier country accused them after being paid for their accusation.
It's all reminiscent of medieval times when people were crying "witch" at every turn. These "witches" were tortured like "enemy combatants" are now, except those accusing the latter have often times received money from the U.S. government, and those of the former were at least given a trial....AFTER the torture of course.
I wouldn't like it, but then again, it wouldn't happen to me if I didn't attack American soldiers. I'm making the assumption that all of them were caught in the process of their attacks. Can you back up that there is paying for accusations?
What would the United States have to gain by giving away money for false accusations, just so they would have to look after another detainee? It seems very counter-intuitive.

I don't think torture is okay, but I don't consider what is being done torture. I think holding unlawful combatants who have been caught in the act of attacking Americans is ok. To call our black sites concentration camps is an insult to anyone whose ever had to live in one. We don't starve our prisoners or abuse them. Any cases you may have heard were most likely isolated. The United States military has it in their best interest to keep its actions humane, elsewise it would be frowned upon.
If you don't think what we're doing is torture, then you need to get better informed about what we're doing. did you look up the secret prisons? You're not disputing me any longer. And if you think all those locked up have shot at americans....you're wrong.
When we went into Afghanistan, our military was offering money to anyone who had information about taliban leaders. Naturally, in a poor war torn area, there were loads of people "speaking up." But of course alot of the information was undoubtedly false, and men were locked up based on indescript anonymous accusers (who were paid for the deed). Very similar to the court of the inquisition.
But HOW can we know who's guilty or innocent if they don't get a fair trial? Hell! Many don't even have charges leveled against them. Our criminal justice system is far from perfect, but by GOD! There's a reason for due process. If I were accused of a crime, I'd want representation. But many of these men have not even been CHARGED with a crime....but held for years, made to stand chained to the wall for hours on end, waterboarded, need I go on?
Honestly, if waterboarding is the worst we've done, I'm not too concerned that we are 'torturing' excessively. The thing is, it's not criminal justice, because they are not common criminals. This is a matter of international war with prisoners of war/unlawful combatants in many cases.
Tell me, what is YOUR source on what we are doing in these 'secret' camps? I saw the secret prisons but we are not using them to mass murder or commit genocides.
Unless you can give me a source or some specific info to back up your point on who exactly is being put in these prisons, it's the military's word against yours.

1. It's a result of their own incompetence and people are free to vote for any fringe parties.
2. I don't think you understand many of the protestors were breaking laws, which isnt protected by the First Amendment.

I'll conclude with this: Any step America may be taking in a strange direction is part of a path that it has been going on for the majority of the 20th Century. During WWII the government became bigger under FDR and its gotten bigger since then. Coupled with the Cold War, America isn't just a republic anymore, it's a world power and to blame it all on one president, one party or even one generation would be ignoring the big picture.

I don't think torture is okay, but I don't consider what is being done torture. I think holding unlawful combatants who have been caught in the act of attacking Americans is ok. To call our black sites concentration camps is an insult to anyone whose ever had to live in one. We don't starve our prisoners or abuse them. Any cases you may have heard were most likely isolated. The United States military has it in their best interest to keep its actions humane, elsewise it would be frowned upon.

When we went into Afghanistan, our military was offering money to anyone who had information about taliban leaders. Naturally, in a poor war torn area, there were loads of people "speaking up." But of course alot of the information was undoubtedly false, and men were locked up based on indescript anonymous accusers (who were paid for the deed). Very similar to the court of the inquisition.

But HOW can we know who's guilty or innocent if they don't get a fair trial? Hell! Many don't even have charges leveled against them. Our criminal justice system is far from perfect, but by GOD! There's a reason for due process. If I were accused of a crime, I'd want representation. But many of these men have not even been CHARGED with a crime....but held for years, made to stand chained to the wall for hours on end, waterboarded, need I go on?
