Where are you getting your figures Momardrame? We don't have all the figures yet, and I know there were at least 3,000 people in Salem, Oregon, so if there's nearly 2000 tea party's nationwide with reports of 2000-15000, you do the math! Average 1500 per tea party, that's 3 MILLION people! A bit different than 20,000 dontcha think?
I wonder If all those people holding up the say no to socialism sighs are going refuse their social security checks or their medicare benefits when the time comes? Or if they are receiving them now, are they going to refuse them the next time around? Are they going to refuse to use the post office? Are they now going to oppose the military; we could privatize it. (Blackwater) How about (local/state level) roads, the schools, the fire department , the police department, the public university?
its not about general taxs, its about the crazy spending and how the government is forcing states to take funding. dont you know that social security is almost out? we're fighting for our future, your just letting it train wreck!
We paid in to Social Security and medicare BY FORCE! Yes, we're for abolishing that, most of us will never see those benefits because it's BANKRUPT! The police, fire, roads etc, are things we are willing to pay of course! Get rid of the Unions in the public schools and we'll be happy to pay those taxes too! But this is about the direction we're heading, and according to you, "it's too late, except your fate, lay down and take it!". That apathy and that's what put us here! So more Tea Party's!
You do not speak for all the people at those gatherings. And most of them either are receiving the benefits from these two socialist programs( I noticed quite a few older folks) or will be receiving them. And they, like the overwhelming majority of Americans, support these programs. The irony is, which I pointed out, these same people are decrying socialism.
Incidentally, if these programs were abolished, there would be an actual popular uprising, which would dwarf these little parties.
Don't we pay for social security benefits? Hmmm, Oh maybe you didn't know that cause your collecting welfare? Those of us who do pay will never see it anyhow because it's bankrupt.
In a country of 300 million people only about 20,000 people (99% of whom are senior citizens with nothing better to do) showed up NATIONWIDE at those tea parties. What a great turnout huh? I bet Obama could manage to get at least that many people just by showing up at Starbucks.
only 20,000? were are you getting your info from? one of the first tea parties with john and ken had 15,000!!!!!!! at one party! dont be bitter, we all cant be morons like you
