this thing has a shitload of armor. Steel+Composites+Laminated Armor+steel screens+ERAWA 2/3. it uses the French LeClerc's firing system, and also can fire the laser guided AT-11 tandem warhead missiles from its 125mm smoothbore gun.
The German--South American tank was TAM: it is very light, only under 31 tons, but it lost to the PT-91 M anyway; propably partly because of the improved by the Slovaks Czechoslovak type of the main battle cannon.
The main reason for their choice was performance in Malaysian theater of war: the tank cannot be too heavy, and for a 3rd generation tank upgraded to the 4th generation's standrad, PT-91 M is great: its weight is only just under 46 tons.
I don't think any of the tanks you listed are very heavy. And I donno what the M models have in particular, but regular PT-91s, AFAIK, aren't very good compared to other T-72/64 upgrades.
But both the K-1 and the TAM comes only with 105mm guns, if my timeline is right. And I thought the TAM's factory went bankrupt long long ago.
why the hell this tank looks like a trickout T-72!

Hey, do you know what other tanks were competing for Malaysia before the PT-91M won?
MingGuoLi 2 years ago
Russian Federation's T-90S (S or souped--up version)
Newest version of K-1 the Korean MBT, do not confuse with the not--yet fully implemented K-2
and another tank made by a South American nation with the help from the Germans

Correction 2 and 1/2 generation tank fully upgraded to the 3rd generation standrad;
depends how many generations and how do you count; check wikipedia for it, and "it" has changed over the last few years
