  • Fuck the CCPB! Way to ruin a great movie!

  • this was exactly like the elavator scene in the departed. Obviously because scorsese based the departed on internal affairs. Both great movies though!

  • if you watched this ending, and watch the third movie, it won't make any sense.

  • huh? why would they handcuff him? doesn't make sense

  • @r3i123 we can assume that Yan've told the officers about Lau being the triad mole they've been searching for on the phone as he once mentioned he'd called the police on the rooftop while the other triad mole (the one kills Yan later) came up.

if i'm not mistaken, there's an officer saying sth like 'we've found out you're the triad mole' to Lau outside the elevator before they handcuff him.

  • @r3i123 thats the only explaination i can think of to make this ending sounds 'reasonable'

  • @r3i123 yeah rite, if i was the otcb i will shoot him to death for a payback as a mole and for the fallen good cop....

  • Stupid!!

  • Then what's the point of the third chapter.... Lau dies in the third chapter as well...then who replaces Lau in the third chapter....

  • okay where can i find the real one

  • Then it would match the the other two movies, would not it?

  • If any of you thought The Departed was about good vs evil, you've completely missed the point of the movie. Sure it was a remake, but Scorsese made a different masterpiece altogether. And I'm Chinese.

  • whys the gun still on the lift floor after he picked it up and handed it over to the other guy? fail

  • so forced. the bad guy's punishment is to live a good life but with a guilty conscience

  • LOL, this ending was bad. seem abruptly tacked on.

  • what a stupid ending, wtf is wrong with the chinese government!?

  • 2:05, the cop with the glasses is holding the gun wrong.

  • didnt like this ending..i mean, realistically it could happen but if he was going to get arrested anynway, theres no point for the other bad guy to die. just feels rushed.

  • this ending is not an original, it fixed

  • lmao...this was weird. And yes i never liked departed to be honest.I always preferred Infernal affairs to that one.Maybe cos this was more original and the acting was cooler.I was watching departed and all I could hear was ppl swearing at each other and shit it just ruined the entire concept for some reason...

now the original ending looked more realistic AND gave way to part 2 and 3 which are two other good movies!

  • Scorsese turned his whole shitpile around.

  • this is soo bad, so 2 people dead and some dude jus walks up and arrests him.

  • So what exactly is Lau being arrested for? Wouldn't make sense if it had do with his past life since there is no evidence so far.

If it was for shooting the guy in the elevator, wouldn't the cops at least question why he did that, especially since he is a cop and Yan's identity couldn't be proven?

    I'm very confused...

  • @StellianAriolus well in this scene. They are arresting him because they found out he was the rat working for the traid. However, in the original ending scene something else happens than this, and it was pretty crazy ( i don't wanna spoil for you tho )

  • yeah i get the censorship issue, but it's not like lau "won" in the original ending? nobody won. it was more psychological and left a deeper impact. oh well.

  • So if Lau got jailed how does part 3 happen?

  • @700gsteak THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING!! lol XD

  • wow, making this ending just because mainland china wants to see the bad guy locked up. it's just a movie, not real, so let the filmakers do what they wish

  • how many dramatic shots without shoiwng it can you have?

  • someone should add the dear sister song during 0:41

  • is it me or is lau in house of flying daggers

  • @marcusantonio91 he is in Warlords too.

  • this is the real world ok peopel if you dont like it dont watch it

  • what a shitty ending, wtf? Original was better..

also, the departed wasn't as good.. cut out quite a few scenes from THIS original movie.. gg

  • what a shitty ending.. wtf, original is better.

  • @GizmoMofo7 ur so dumb departed copy internal affiar

  • @lwgreendog18 departed was better remake

  • @lwgreendog18 yes but it was still better dumbass

  • @lwgreendog18 fkn retard do u not understand english he fucking said it was a better remake which means he knew that it copied it and it is still better than the original

  • thats a stupid ending

  • lol China

  • it's disappointing to see the chinese censorship did this. In this alternative ending the police didnt even care about who're dead in the elevator when they did the arrest right after he stepped out.

  • This is the ending in the other parallel universe.

  • nop that doesn't make any sense, ^^

    lol

    dey didn't have eny evidence^^

    lol

  • Thank you Mr Muga. I understand the German subtitles much better than the Cantonese voice acting.

  • One of the best films Ive seen much better than Departed. I think this ending was made becos they didnt know if IA would be making 2 & 3. In the end the original was better. This orginal ending is also better than Departed.

  • that endings stupid.. there wudnt have been a part 3 if that was the ending... and yeah departed did really sucks... there is not comparison, it was so bad i had to turn it off after like 10 minutes

  • You're a fucking moron.

  • well ur a fucking moron x 2

  • @angel6 stfu departed was better than this even tho it was a remake ...still better than this

  • @tintindo123 the departed is the biggest crap ever made and that is a masterpiece

  • @Calfullanas u relly think ur opinion matters after u reply to everyone and say tht.....stfu u dumb shit ther both good movies departed won best picture so it did something right stfu and stop hating ......faggot

  • @tintindo123 this is a great film, the departed is stupid and unnecesary if won the best picture it s just because hollywood now sucks

  • @Calfullanas the only fkn reason u faggots dont like departed was because it was a remake of this u dun kno sht ......faggot

  • @tintindo123 everyone knows that it's a remake you dumb fuck

what are you trying to prove, none of your arguments are justified

are you one of those internet trolls who post your 'hates' in every video in the delusion that it makes you look 'cool'

why can't you accept other people's opinion that infernal affairs is better than the 'remake'

  • @brytonlaw ur crying....and no its not better

  • this ending sucks ! this ending is like the holywood's 'the departed' ending (the bad guy can't win type of ending). But you know, at least i can understand the chinese ppl, because they were FORCED to film this alternative ending because of the chinese censorship,so it's not their fault.. But i can't forgive holywood for making an ending LIKE THIS ONE , just because the stupid american audience can't see the bad guy wining the game.

  • I think the Original Hong Kong version is best... I`ve seen the movie a lot of times to understand the whole story, and I can`t say that Lau is the bad guy. He was in the beginning, but he`s trying to start over again and become " Yat hou yan" a good person. But the way hes doin` it aint right though, he should have given himself to the police. But I love Mou Gan Doh as it is;)

  • Have you seen the Chinese movie "Connected"? It was remade from the original American version named "Cellular" and the Chinese version was seriously way better.

  • totally agree with you.. Woody Allen's Matchpoint comes to mind :)

  • @MScofield007 stfu idiot

  • @MScofield007 the hollywood film is the biggest crap i ve ever seen

  • @MScofield007 the departed is the remake of the infernal affairs series !

  • @MScofield007 @dilmarc It's a Hongkong film, and Hongkong has different law system from our mainland China, they have no stupid strict censorship like we have.it's called"One country, two systems" (一国两制)created by Deng xiaoping.

  • @MScofield007 In the Departed, I don't feel it's a "bad guy can't win" scenario. I think the effect that Scorsese was going for was the fact that no one can win. No one can escape the law, even if the law is crooked.

Anyways, I feel the death of the "hero" (Lau, DiCaprio) was done better in Infernal affairs. The camera movement, music, and how you see Leung turn in shock as you hear Lau hit the ground. However, the Departed was more shocking. It caught me off guard.

  • @MScofield007 even though i agree that this ending is stupid, you don't quite understand. First of all, bad can't win. Second thing is that the bad guy can't win. And if you have seen this ending of this wonderful trilogy, you''ll understand that this guy ends up worse than dead... He couldn't win. and the last thing and the most important thing, is that you talk shit about american audience, while you don't understand that there is no such thing as ''good'' and ''bad'' guys. There are people.

  • @MScofield007 this ending was to appease the Mainland Chinese central govt censors. Mainland central govt doesn't want bad guys to win, because it might stir up references to the massive corruption problems among mid and lower tier government officials and instigate riots by the people.

  • no way...the original ending is much better...this one is too fast and simple..

  • Does Chen Wing-Yan(Tony Leung) die in the original ending?

  • He died in the original ending also...

  • Comment removed

  • yes he does sadly..

  • do you have the hold version of this film with only, only german subtitles, that is cool! Ein Wurderbar film.

  • I like this ending and understand why they made it this way, but it kind of defeats the point of the movie made in the beginning - the 8th hell (immortality) is the worst hell. Lau's punishment is the worst kind - in the original ending, he survived, and for the rest of his life he will be forced to repent for what he has done.

  • this is sooooooo stupid, it dosen't explain the shooting in the elevator, and it made the whole movie into like any other ordinary cop movie.

lol this part wasn't in my pirated dvd

  • Dang it! I wish I would have paid more attention in my german language class! Ich ist schlecht. Sorry I don't remember how to spell that!

    : /

  • tzzz das echte ende ist viel besser! :D

  • Yo... Does anyone know the name of the music playing when The clour goes black & white? Or how I can find it? Love that melody!

  • bad cops or something

  • Jeez you know how useless that effort was. Thanks for trying tho. If you find out exactly what it's called please let me know!

  • yeah my fault man, i bookmarked it sry didnt let u know.

Its called goodbye policeman, or 再见警察再见。

  • Oh sick. You're a ledge! Cheers. Now all I need is a way to get hold of it! I'm sure I'll think o something ;-) lol

  • wats a ledge o.0

  • a legend! I called you a legend for hookin up the track info. In London we often just abbreviate and say ledge in a slang like compliment kind of way!

  • o.0 didn't catch ur local beckstreet slang.

    sry about that, jobo.

  • goodbye policeman goodbye

    再见警察再见

  • Dude... YOU ROCK!!!!!

  • ^ _^ I got names of all sort of weird but good music, if u got questions, just hit me

    <--------------

  • Dude... NO-HOMO... but this sounds like a match made in heaven. I'm into the exact same thing. I'll add you right away. Thanks for the help. However... I can't seem to find the track anywhere I go. Could you PM me a good way to get hold of it? Please

  • send me the original track

  • I think you misunderstood me. I can't find any version of the track. Original, edit nothing! I'm wondering if you can direct me somewhere or send me your copy!

  • o u mean goodbye policeman goodbye?

  • yes! I can't find it anywhere. I'm sure you can suggest other methods if you know what I mean. Or just send me your copy!

  • i thought u meant there's a english song called anywhere i go... which i never heaarrdd of.... : )

offcourse i got this one... gimme ur msn or hotmail or something

  • Sick! I'll PM you buddy!

  • Wow, this is terrible. I feel bad for everyone who went to the theaters in mainland China and suddenly got this crap at the end of an awesome movie.

  • they wont dumb shit, this is opening for part II, i feel bad for all the cantonese motherfucker who dont know they own fucking awesome movies. DISGRACE

  • This is the alternate ending for the movie. The real ending is less generic "Justice wins everything forever, all bad guys are punished." Why would they open the sequel with the alternate ending. #2 is a prequel and #3 is a sequel beginning with Lau as a police officer trying to erase his past, not an arrested mole. WTF are you talking about. This ending is not canon and terrible.

  • lol, it's 50 yuan a movie ticket, that's a hell lot for reuglar folks

  • lollll wut a gay ending. n the "cool" music starts playing like theres a msg. "goood always wins evil" - from CHINA

  • so because of this ending, Infernal affairs III couldn't be played in mainland china because it won't make sense.....

  • lol, I hate when a certain country view this type of criminal activity deemed unpunished should'nt be shown and have the movies change the ending for them... This is one of them. Look at the poor cuts! Lau holding the police badge at the opening of the doors and suddenly its gone!

  • LOlol i see the badge

they should just show him coming out of the elevator nevermind the doors opening with the bad cutting lOl.

  • yeah this ending stinks, unlike the typical Hollywood bullcrap, the other two parts of this movie were actually good and enriched the story as a whole.

  • Funny thing is this is ending is same as the original. Just the original needed to make two more movies to get to this point....

  • lol thats kind of true now that i think about it.

  • That ending sucked

  • So what happened exactly in this alternate version? They find out Lau isn't who he says he is and they arrest him? but how did they find out?

  • chinese is not a language, just dialects

  • Comment removed

  • This movie has never been showed in theater in mainland China. How can it be censored??? This ending was first released in Malaysia and Singapore, way earlier than the DVD released date in mainland China.

  • That was quite a lame ending... Andy tried so much to avoid being caught. And then at the end, a bunch of police walked up to him, and BAM, less than 5 seconds, he handed himself over. End of story. The scene about Tong getting shot was totally unnecessary.

  • thats the original

  • andy lau shld b punished! he's the bad guy

  • Cantonese=Hong Kong

    Mandarin=Mainland China

How I think the Chineses languages work.

  • Cantonese=Province of Guangdong

    Mandarin=Most parts of China

  • Hong Kong is treated as a province within China. And so, it should be...

Cantonese=Province of Guangdong, and Hong Kong

    Mandarin=Most parts of China

  • they are all chinese arent they? It's just Hongkonger= HK, Shanghai= Shanghainese etc

  • The ending was made for China release; otherwise, the Chinese government would not let this movie play in China.

  • the part that andy lau killed the other mole in the lift. arent there cameras in the lift?

if there is this movie doesnt make sense at all.

  • well all of those who would suspect Lau was already dead. as a cop he can always go there, get the tape, and then destroy it.

  • well, the cops down there heard gun shots, therefore they'll take him back to the station, so they can get the tape before him.

  • I guess they didn't have Infernal Affairs 3 in mainland China

  • I think this is fine. I think it would make much more sense. I am pretty sure the undercover already released the fact that Lau was a traitor, becuz stating "cops are on the way." Idk either way, it would of been fine in my thought.

  • Stop saying it's a fucked up ending, we know, that's why they used the original ending.

  • Even though the other one made me cry, I don't care for this ending. I was sort of hoping the alternate ending was better for Yan but since it wasn't, the other one is better.

  • that was fucking retarded...

"we found out ur a spy"

so randomly, the movie didn't even show the police searching for a spy...

  • yeah that was fucking retarded...

but dont forget thats not the original ending.

in the original ending they dont find it out.

this is not more than a crappy alternative ending for the chinese cencorship

  • the original ending is so much better

  • wut

    lol

    liked the other ending better

  • wtf, gay ass ending, he should of been like shot to pieces at the end, would of been much better

  • this ending is FUCKED UP. Its sad too see how China loves murdering creativity.

  • much better the original :D

  • this is the commie china ending. ..

  • cantonese is chinese, there like shanghainese is chinese, hanyu is chinese

  • chinese is the race ..not a language or dialect.

cantonese is a chinese dialect, hokkien is a chinese dialect although there is a debate to classify those 2 as a language due to the wide usage.

    get your facts right

  • the regular ending is better.

    "I'm a cop."

What a line. It feels like a punch in the stomach every time you hear it.

  • The dubbing is not Chinese, it is Cantonese. Please get your facts right next time as those who know Chinese do not necessarily have to know Cantonese.

  • lol, cantonese is chinese, try and get your facts right next time before criticizing others

  • one of the greatest and yet saddest ending to a film ever

  • Funny part is how you can notice that the actors didn't really like the censored ending. The real one is way better.

  • what's the name of the song, it sounds pretty cool

  • i think this ending not as good as the original ending, with Andy lau saying: "I'm a cop...". At least it really provide a surprising ending that the bad guy got away this time...lol....excellent movie anyway!

  • this was the shit, i dont know if the departed was better haha, props for originality.

the original ending was better, stupid censorship

  • My fav movie.<2

  • also one of the saddest moments in any countries film history

  • fucking love this film, the second two never lived up to it, this film is the shit, cast, story, music...

  • This movie had more emotion and depth than 'The Departed', dispite how much I loved TD.

  • lol this film is made in 2002 lol departed copied this

  • I like the original ending much better. Why repeat the ending of every other cop/corruption thriller by having the bad guy get punished, when you can instead show that the bad guy really just wants to be the good guy? Great movie, I hope everyone will seek it out because it is definitely superior to the American version, not to detract from Scorsese, who is obviously great.

  • The Departed is a remake of Infernal Affairs.

  • Eh its like the departed a little bit, but more chinese? The departed is a remake of Infernal affairs, DUMBASS! The Departed doesnt have a hair on the original the original wipes its floor

  • Nope.

  • is excitinger even a word? U must be german or from holland butchering words like that haha. Infernal affairs is so much better. I thought the departed was crap... Too much cursing no depth

  • lol, u sure? the ironic thing abt the departed is that the triads from hk, hu supposedly are local hong kong ppl, doesn't even speak proper cantonese!

  • The dubbing's Cantonese, not Chinese.

  • Cantonese is a form of Chinese. (One can say that the Cantonese dialects are a family of Chinese dialects. Another way of categorization is that Chinese consists of a number of languages, one of which is Cantonese.)

  • SeventhSun. I don't get what you mean. Do you mean if I speak Cantonese. I am not Chinese? If that's not Chinese, what do you call that?

  • Nah Cantonese is called Cantonese. Real Chinese is called Mandarin, or putonghua.

  • REAL Chinese? If there is such thing, than I have to argue that it's Cantonese, considering that Cantonese is a much older "language" than Mandarin.

  • I agree. Mandarin has a lot of non-sinitic phonology and evolved recently. I wouldn't call it "real" Chinese though, every Chinese language is just as real as another. Though Cantonese preserved more classical phonology and some of the grammar. Minnan is also very close to classical Chinese.

  • hmm.. I always thought Mandarin is Manchu-Chinese and Cantonese is more ethnic Han-Chinese. Because China's last dynasty was ran by the Manchus people, so Mandarin is for the northerners and maybe not ethnically Chinese?

  • Mandarin probably did borrow a lot from non Chinese phonetics and grammar, but it was already in place before the Qing Dynasty. Mandarin developed sometimes in the Ming I believe, or maybe a bit before even. It's hard to say what's ethnically Chinese. Han Chinese as a people was forced together. Although I can imagine the south had less turkic/altaic influence since it wasn't occupied for very long.

  • Probably from the Silk Road trade. With all the traveling and hearing new things, I would guess they started around that time. But still, Cantonese did develop first, right? So it would be more ethnically Chinese.

  • a language can't really be more or less ethnically something......it's more the culture I think. linguistically, Mandarin is pretty much just sinitic. Cantonese also has non-Chinese elements in it, remnants of old indigenous languages of the south east in colloquial speech, especially the articles that add flavor. Cantonese did exist longer and does retain more classical chinese in it, you're right about that.

  • omg, mandarin is the local dialect of the beijing and tianjin area, it became the offical language of china because the capital is there.

  • Defined Chinese, please.. Those who speak Cantonese are Chinese, those who speak Mandarin are also chinese and all other dialects, Hokkien, Hakka, Hainan, Foo chow, Teo chew & etc. So if you said cantonese is not chinese (based on you little understanding of the fact, I rest my case....)

  • WTF are you talking about? Cantonese IS Chinese...

  • that doesn't make sense -.- u cant say Hokkien and Mandarin ARE chinese when theres more than thsoe two langauges that are part of chinese. those two may be the MOST spoken out of all the chinese but Cantonese is still chinese..

  • um...the national language of china is mandarin. the dialects of china are also considered as chinese. if cantonese is not chinese, neither is hokkien.
