  • To bad the dumb ass with the violin has to be playing, that is enough for me to declare war.

  • may the south rise again robert....

  • Why is somebody practicing their violin through out the video?

  • fake.

  • Ok I get the point of the historical value of this however the title is very misleading. Please amend the title to say that this is in fact a reenactor that way somebody won't call you a fraud and it will end all of the bashing on your site. Deo Vindice!

  • @W6CSAhamradio Do you really believe anyone would click on this site expecting it to be genuine? Pleez!

  • A fine piece of history ,Robert e lee a gentleman a true American .

  • film adds 20 pounds

  • robert e lee died in 1870 just you know

  • This video was recorded just before he won the presidential election of 1872.

  • misleading title

  • too good a quality of film. not real!

  • Wow! He looks great for a guy who's 204 years old!!

What kind of moron thinks this is really Lee? What kind of moron would post this hoping to fool other morons that it's Lee???

  • mentira¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • bullcrap

  • Longstreet shoulda been the commander .Lee was great but Longstreet woulda made even better decision s.

  • They didnt have video/audio recorders when he was alive anyways

  • Not even a good representation!

  • The actor rambles on and on, without the proper intonation, and he cannot accurately represent someone like Lee, who was a deep and principled man.

  • Let me guess, Robert. . . You don't like Obama, either. . right?

What fucking planet do some of my fellow Americans come from.

  • This film convinced me Lee was the best treasonous scoundrel who ever took up arms against his nation that our country has ever produce. Nobody ever was a better traitor. Hail Hail to him and his fellow Confederate traitors...their accomplishment will NEVER be topped.

  • u now he was actually against slavery he was gonna fight with the union but he was born in Virginia and he couldnt go against his home

  • @jadenkam1 good point, since everybody knows you can never go against your home when it comes to moral issues. If your home says you have to do something immoral, wrong, or illegal, then by golly you just have to shut up and do it. Actually, its really not his fault anyway. I bet if they double checked his files at home they would find a letter stating that he was fighting the entire war under protest cause they made him do it against his will. They wouldn't let him go against his home.

  • the audio just doesnt fit if you listen too it, so its obviously fake.

  • leee die in 1870 there did't have film!!

  • has that gorgeous virginia accent

  • Sorry, but Lee did own slaves.

  • No, GerJerry99. Like Will Smith's "Wild, Wild West" with "Ulysses S. Grant" in it. Just made to resemble what it MIGHT have been "way back then".

  • seriously is it real

  • @gerjerry99 It's a real civil war re enactor portraying Robert E. Lee and giving very accurate historical information that isn't normally seen. I have posted the video without the special effects overlay on this channel. It's just meant to give people an historical view of what times were like back during that period and be fun. The performer did an outstanding job. The background violin came through louder than we expected though. We staged the background violin during the shoot.

  • @Thompsontech1 I knew this couldn't be authentic, because of the timing between his life and talkies, which came about, years, after his death.

  • @Thompsontech1 No, it's the real Robert E. Lee. He aged remarkably well.

  • @Thompsontech1 yes BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT IT SAYS IN THE SUBJECT TITLE

  • @gerjerry99 Seriously now.......

  • @gerjerry99 Are you seriously asking that?!

  • @gerjerry99 I hope your kidding or you really need to shake yourself

  • It was very entertaining and seemed to have REL's life history down pat. But for 1860s sake, he should have buttoned the sleeves - but that is just my perfectionism showing through. The actor did a very good job with the man. The movie in 1860 went through my head but I figured the tattoo was enough belly-aching. Thanks for the reply. Most helpful.

  • Since when did Robert E. Lee have a tattoo on his right forearm???

  • @scottishwilliam1948

Since when did video exist in the 1860's? Modern video of a re-enactor that was manipulated to look old. It's just fun. Plus the re-enactor is giving a documentary statement of what Lee's life was like back in that period. In that respect this is a rare video view of those times. Enjoy.

  • @scottishwilliam1948 Since he went to Jersey to work on his accent.

  • eeehhhh
