  • Sid James, Jack Douglas & Clive Dunn were not comedians...they were actors who often, though not exclusively, appeared in comedies. Les Dawson, Ted Ray & Ray Martine were comedians.

  • Terrible show but Sid James is a legend indeed.

  • Sid James was great as ever in this clip.

  • MORE OF THIS GEAR!!!

  • Its funny how les dawson would pass away at the age of 62 and that he saw the ghost of sid james in the dressing room where he had the heart attack

  • Sid James IS a total legend. Watching him on shows like this.. he makes me laugh before he even utters a word. I am a difficult person to make laugh and Sid James makes me laugh every time. Wish there was more guys as good as him now, especially in comedy.

  • @jiggarypokery I agree comedians are born not made and Sid James was born to be comedian and make people laugh. You will have to go long way this day and age to find someone as great as him in the world of British comedy.

  • The great Sid James.

The epitomy of Britishness - much loved, etc etc.

If Im watching a Carry On, it MUST have this wonderful bloke on, along with the other wonderful bloke, Kenneth Williams in or Im not bothered.

Sid was actually Solomon Cohen, a South African of jewish decent.

Just like me he was. Randy as hell. Apparently humped Barbara Windsor a few times, and several of the other girls on Carry On including the curvy Margaret Nolan (look her up)

You're badly missed, Sid. So's Ken Williams.

  • Wow! Was searching for clips of the American quizzer "The Joker's Wild" and stumbled across this. I do miss panel games on this side of the pond!

  • What a collection of classic comedians. Brilliant!

  • Anything u say will be taking down lol

    Sid James legend

  • Clive Dung & Ray Martine - as funny as a tumor in the lymph glands!

  • @darrowby1972 Clive Dung? ROFL

  • About as funny as toothache

  • So, what happened with the horse and the sugar lump?

  • One day, the Clerk of the Course spotted a trainer giving something to a horse just before the start of a race. He went over and said, "Doping?" The trainer said, "Indeed not, Sir. 'Tis just lump sugar. Look, I'll take a bit myself.....see?" The Clerk of the Course said, "Sorry, but we have to be careful. As a matter of fact, I like a bit of sugar myself."

  • (continued)So the trainer gave him a piece. When the Clerk of the Course disappeared, the trainer gave his jockey his last minute instructions, "Don't forget the drill. Hold him in 'til the last four furlongs. Don't worry if anything passes you, it'll be me or the Clerk of the Course!"

  • hwa hwa hwa hwa!

  • WHAT A SHOW !! Hard to believe it was ever on ! I remember it well with all sorts of greats like Alfred Marks

  • I loved the comedy of Sid James because it was joyous and appeared effortless.

    D Hill

  • I wonder what Clive Dunn had to say on immigration. Lucky it wasn't that for Sid James.

  • i love the genuine cockneys like sid james, joe brown, david jason etc etc, non of your fake cockney wideboys you get today but the real deal..

    lol

  • Sid James was south African not a cockney, but played the cockney part very well

  • David Jason was born in North London and made a good living playing a South Londoner. But he's not a cockney. Oh, btw Joe Brown was born in Lincolnshire.

  • what was the rest of the horse joke?lol

  • "I'm not strictly a comic , I'm not a comic at all. The other blokes are comedians, i am more of a sort of re-actor, so i let them do it and i throw in a couple of counter punches, that's all i can do"

    Sidney James, 1970

  • he gya gya gyaaaaa

  • Barry Cryer! And not grey as a badger!!

  • Sid James! Two words - absolute legend!!! End of story.

  • clive dunn :O

omg ive never seen this before

    THANKS ALOT :D

  • Wow. And I thought that the only game show to ever have the name "Joker's Wild" was the Jack Barry created show. But all things considered, not a bad little game. :-)

  • And now, here's the game where comedy is king and Lady Laugh is queen! It's JOKER'S WILD! And here's your host, Barry Cryer!

  • I wonder if this particular Joker's Wild could be reworked into a game of definitions like the US version was. Probably not, but it would be funny to hear about them trying to. :-)
