Looks like something out of Stalinist "New Soviet Man". Great depiction--now I know how depressing it would have been to live in Stalinist Russia in the 1930's.
One of my all time favourite films. Right up there with It's a Wonderful Life and Citizen Kane. Sadly misunderstood and unsuccessful on its release, but so was It's a wonderful life. JP Shanley went on to win the Pullitzer, and arise from the undeserved ashes of this fantastic film. Thanks for sharing. I've never seen the DVD to buy.

there's the opening factory, then the wall in joe's apartment, then the lighting hitting the boat, then the walk up to the volcano.. then the reference of "its been a long winding road"... a little cool hiddin theme from a great movie!
What a depressing job!!

@broncos201364 A couple others as well. It's also the crack in Joe's wall in his crappy apartment.

This movie is sooooo much better than Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail. Yeah I said it. Dare you to disagree.

@TimKGrimes Thanks, man. It's been years since I've seen it, but it's one of those rare films that stays in your heart and head, regardless.

anyone notice how many times the "crooked road" appears in the movie?
MrNugzi 1 year ago 3
@MrNugzi Yeah, that's definitely a recurring theme. Off the top of my head, I can think of three instances in which that image shows up.

Thanks for watching. I hope someone someday decides to upload a higher quality version without all the extra text floating on screen.

It's a silly movie with a lot of symbolism. I really liked it. I remember watching it back in theaters. The scene with the moon freaked me out...
