Well Smoke and Sub-Zero were friends and the lin kuei wanted to change them into cyborgs, Smoke was transformed and Sub zero refuse so they hunted Sub-Zero for his insubordination.

Robot smoke was shown in the movie.. So this clip is pretty dumb seeing smoke IS shown in the movie.. but its after the modification were made to his body..By the way.. Human smoke would not fight Sub-Zero seeing Sub-Zero and Smoke were Best Freinds.

If you say it because of the Annihilation movie, you should know it's very unworthy to the game's events. In fact, it was Sub Zero the Younger the one who was a good friend of Smoke, but the original Sub Zero had no known friends.

Oh right The younger one was but the original one as Noob Saibot somehow got a hold of him and reprogrammed him to betray the lin kuei and the younger one. In deception it said Smoke was killed and thats how Noob bought him back and turned him on Sub Zero. The original was anti social lol he was just a cold bloded killer for hire and the younger allied with smoke, scorpion and some of earthrealms fighters like Liu Kang
