  • Bill, what al caiola album is this from? I was looking through my collection last night and I wanted to play this one but I don't think I have it, let me know :)

  • Beautiful vintage equipment. I really love vintage audio. :)

  • Geesh no wonder I can't find one of these you got them all lol..

  • Great memories. Hey, thanks for making me feel old! LOL

  • Trip down memory lane...thanks!

  • When I was a kid we had a record player console that had an actual guitar input in the tuner!! I can not remember what brand it was. It had tubes and I remember my guitar sounded really good through it. Wondering if you might know about these and who made them. Thanks

  • Good Day!

Very nice look at so many Magnavox models.

I had a Farnsworth tv from "41. Was still watchable in late "80's. Also a few RCA's in decent shape. Big mono jobs.

Now only a Clarion MK1, by Electrohome. Weighs a ton...15" woofer, & Garrard changer exactly as you showed in pics. Reluctance cart. stopped working, but tuner/amp functional. Were'nt those piano-keyed German sets nutty? My brother/I each had East German sets. Could not keep 'em going.

Really liked the 1970's Mag, at the last!

  • The stereo you have pictured at 3:03 is my favorite stereo, My elderly neighbor actually has the exact same set, and I've been trying to get her to sell it to me for ages! It's absolutely gorgeous!!

  • HI Muisc Mike I hope you can get it. That is the Magnavox Imperial, very collectible, and completely different from a regular Magnavox. It has totally sealed speaker enclosures 1/2 inch thick, Electro Voice t-35 HF drivers on Magnavox Horns 2-15" woofers and a very unique high quality electronically crossed over tube amp, no crossover caps used. This stereo cost 650.00 in 1961. It was next to the top of the line, which was 1250.00 Visit the Magnavox friends on Yahoo Groups .

  • Yeah, it's completely different from the Magnavox I have. It was made around the same time, and the record changer says Imperial Micromatic on it, In fact, it's the same changer my neighboy has in hers, but on mine, the 2 doors slide acorss.

  • HI Mike I have two Imperials like the one at 3:03 in Danish modern, that I consider actual Imperials. I also have another Magnavox that has Imperial on the changer and sliding top doors, but I never really conisdered it a true Imperial. It has internally no resemblance to the real Imperial Models. It is opened back style with side firing lighter magnet woofers and basic amp. I have it posted playing Dansero, I don't have the Danish modern Imperials posted.

  • The Magnavox Danish modern Imperial I have is a 1959, pictured at 3.33, a 1960 Imperial, like your neighbors in a different furniture style at 3.27, and the 1960 Concert Grand ad showing it open at 7:05. The Concert Grand is quite collectible, and has amazing sound. I have known people to drive across two states just to get one, They are hard to find, and so are the true Imperials.Hope you can eventually get that one.

  • Also my great-aunt has an RCA Orthophonic Console from 1958 or 1959 and that one too is a great stereo.

  • Hi Mike I have 3 RCA orthophonic Hi-Fi's posted. They are not stereo, and two are table models and one is a console. I just bought a portable RCA 45 player that is an orthophonic hi-fi, but it is still being worked on. Just type in RCA maynardcat and it will list them all for you to check out.

  • Nice job putting this together! So many amazing units! I love the ones with the reel to reel players. The cabinets are a reflection of the style of the times....i luv it!

  • Wow...this was so fun!! Now...to pick a favorite!!...Love the Al Caiola! Just started picking up his records. Very James Bond theme with that guitar. Thanks so much for this Maynard!!

  • Furniture dosn't have that craftsmanship and style anymore, too sad.

What NO ham radios? Or even CBs. I was thinking about some of the old transceivers from the 50s and 60s, some weighed ni onto 100# aka boat anchors. For all you radio collectors, you might try to find a ham radio sometimes, far more challenging.

I just fixed my RCA 45 turntable but it has a bad cartridge. IF I can find that old GE cart, I will put it in the RCA shell by drilling out the rivits. The Q is, where is it???

  • I have the same problem with Where is it?? I bought a hard to find Astatic 89tx cartridge at the recycling center, and put it somewhere and I cannot find it.. I do have a couple of old CB Radios. One is a Johnson Messenger, and it works, but Where is It??

  • Great stuff Love the range of radios and radiograms.

    Thanks

    Richard

  • That 1960's console still looks modern today! IKEA furnature copies the design a lot!

  • OMG, that video was like a Thanksgiving Feast!! Thanks so much!!

  • Very nice slideshow!

I saw my '56 7HF45 @ 2:20. The RCA @ 2:05 is rare. Never saw it in that color before.

I dig that Calcutta tune too. Jams more than Lawrence Welks version.

  • 6:47 EPIC!

  • very nice!
