damn. he did good on that song. not quite exactly like his dad, but it was hard to tell the difference if i closed my eyes. and either way it's a good damn song!
the first time i heard that song i didnt understand a word ,in the early 60s in my teens ,and in the mideast .thats how popular mr robbin was. i still get the same goosebumps evry time i hear ,and now that i undertand it .great artist ,shame he passed before his time.
Who is the lady in dark green that is singing along in the second section of the video, Is it Marty's widow, since passed? When was this produced, TNN has been gone a long time?
Outside of holding his guitar in a funny way he is SO good! What a song. I remember hearing it while driving through the canyons of eastern Oregon with my Dad when I was a boy. It will forever be one of my very favorite country-western tunes.
This is the one tune my Dad can't get out of singing at family events, whether playing guitar with it, or singing from a CD... Marty is one of my Dad's musical heroes. His voice was unmistakeable. They don't make 'em like him anymore.
Fantastic! Have always loved the story telling style of the song and certainly the harmonies of any and all who sang with Marty. Would love to sing this with a quartet!
i have been mispelling ronny's name he made 2 albums, 1st was columbia presents marty robbins jr, 2nd was reach for all you can get by ronny robbins. he was making personal appearences singing dad's songs. i did find a few of him doing dad's songs.i have a nashville phone book[i had forgotten about] listing marty robbins enterprises.
since his mom died in july of 01, i assume ronnie and his sister are overseeing his dad's interests. the name is actually robinson. marty shortened his name because his mom frowned on his music inerests. i bet she was proud later. ronnie and dad sound a lot alike, but there are small differences enough to tell them apart, especially jr's earlier recordings.i wish i still had his 1st album.i'm stil looking for it.
This is realy great, the son of the great Marty Robbins with the same sence of humor, honoring is wonderful father.Great job curleyb3 and thank you somuch for posting this vid.
Your welcome and thank you for your comment. Marty Robbins is a favorite of mine too. You can see where Marty Jr. is proud of his dad. I think that's great.
ronnie doesn't look like dad,but that singing voice leaves no doubt who dad is.he seems to have inherited dad's sense of humor, changing a word in a song now and then. i have been listening to a music site, labeling certain songs marty robbins, none marty jr. i had ronnie's album from 1967 [gone i know not where]there is a very slight difference if you listen closely you can tell, even with steel guitar in sr. and jr's records.
Thank you for your comment of Marty and his son. Yes, I think they both sound the same and Jr. has his father's sense of humer. Marty Jr. should go a long way. Marty Sr. will always be missed.
i don,t think ronnie is really pursuing a singing career. i just wonder why[if i'm right]he's not taking credit for his actual records.since we all loved marty's voice he could fill the void we all miss by marty's untimely death.i did have the pleasue of seeing marty in san diego in the late 60s.

I was lucky to see Marty Robbins in London, England back in 1975. He stole the night of all other concert performers.
