It is refreshing to see a video in which the Sifu is not just beating up on his students to show his skill or elevate his street formula of the style. I actually see, teaching by breaking down positions, attacks in simple steps, good chi sao and correcting positions in forms. The students actually seem to be enjoying themselves as if smiles are forbidden in classes that train hard which they seem to be doing.
I don't understand why this video was given the title crazy instructor. He actually seems like quite a good instructor. His students seem knowledgeable, skillful, and seem to be really enjoying their instruction. I'd like to study with this Sifu. As for the Leung Ting Mc Donalds comment. Don't hate on his success. I'm not train in his lineage, but he teaches quality wing chun and his many skilled disciples are a testimony to that. Each lineage of wing chun/tsun has something to offer.

"training without thought is perilous." so good or not a student who trains should be asking the questions.ving tsun is a personel journey if you don't ask you will never know
Why do you think they W.C. Modified it's technique it was upgraded to be able to fight with the kick boxers, muay thai and other different fight techniques. Technique should always progress it's like living being and it should evolve.
The modified version was made intentionaly faulty and from the feed back ive recieved from the overall WingChun community, majority are in consensus with me.........
Have you trained both systems and then make comparisons?
if you did you would not have made such an uneducated comment....
Well i trained only modified, but i don't see why i should take step back and train Traditional, don't get me wrong i have much of respect for the traditional, but, i just like to think that it couldn't get worse in age. Also you have a point i should say that kind of things about comparing traditional and modified, but it's just logical, that evolving art should be better like older one. Like son should be better then his father.
Bro before you even engage in an art do you even perform your research or what?
The Wingchun Master two generations before Yip Man named Leung Jan, taught wingchun to his two sons and his neighbour Chan Wah Shun. Jan feared that after his death Chan would try to belittle the sons and claim ownership of the system. So Jan intentionally taught Chan a downgraded and more defecient version of wingchun, with intentional-placed faults in it to him. So what happened when Jan and one of his sons died?
Chan drove away the remaining son irrespectively, stole and claimed ownership of the system. Yip Man initially learnt from Chan for numerous years but then went to school and met a KungFu practitioner who revealed himself as Leung Jans surviving son whom taught Yip Man. He followed the traditions of Wing Chun and taught the modified to his other students but taught the original and unaltered system to William Cheung and thus you have your two variations and divergences of the system.
So as you see, the modified system was not modifed because of improvement or further evolving the system, it was made modified in order to protect and assure that the right sucessor(Jan's son) inherited that which was rightfully his.
The modified system is only but a shadow of the traditional and this is something you will realize after(or if) you start in the tradtional system.
In theory mathmatics works too, but some people suck at it too.
Every martial arts in theory works great, but applied to real situation, things will take there course and much of which is uncontrollable...people want to be action heroes...Even Highly trained MMA fights can't get there shit right.
YOU ARE FUCKING ZERO YOU DUMBASS.Ofcourse everybody know and screaming "whats style is the best"
Style isnt important as the user .And how meny time he spent on it and how good in it he is.Dont deny the style you not even encountered not even you dont really know, and shut a fuck up and dont talk some bullshit
No structure in this lineage - alot of reliance on brute strength. Truth is that all of these guys would have no chance against legitimate linegage WC practioners.
what are you talking about "no structure and only brute force?...foolish
Even the students show very good form and movement. You obviously see things different, so keep up your gung fu (hard work and skill) and have a good life.
No brute force is even shown here, only because this lineage has a blitz defense (shown to work) you and others claim WT is all about brute force, pitiful.
This is very good instruction from a teacher that clearly understands the true essence of his art. All the students display a deep awareness of their own physical movements as well as those of their practice partners. The flow of movement from each individual is of a very high standard. It is clear there are no Bruce Lee wanabees or egos here. This is very good indeed. This is true martial art. Hats off to their teacher!
i started wing chun a few years back right after braking my leg it never hindered me too much, and my 7yr old nephew broke his arm a few years back but still trains in wing chun
Yes, good school, I got the same thing. Good exercises, students in good mood and with smooth flow motion. Any Wing Tsun school should look like at least this.
well it is not the greatest form I have seen, not close. but, there is no reason to call it atrocious, the students still know how to fight. plus almost any martial art school that has a large amount of students has horrible training regiments because training should be with a small group of people. I do believe videos like this do give wing tsun a bad reputation, but all the better. wing tsun isnt a tournament sport so who cares and plus ud catch your opponent off gaurd if they studied
This must be in Europe where more people appreciate Wing Chun/Tsun. How fortunate you all are to have one another to train with. aloha from Hawaii SifuZ
What kind of person goes around bashing other people's practice? At least they are sharing videos. I didn't see a bunch of videos on your YouTube profile showing your awesome form and applications. Are we supposed to just take your word for it that you are not an armchair martial artist while you are smack talking on the internet?
wanker. Simply because i feel no need to ask for anyone's approval or need some sort of ego stroke that my kung fu is pretty or looks good does not mean that the comments are inaccurate. This sort of nonsense is the reason such a great combat system is no given the respect it deserves.
Name calling? Check. Anonymous smack talk onlin? Check. Criticizing yet offering nothing constructive to help? Check. Yet we are all supposed to take your word for it. You fail to see that you were already stroking your own ego by making fun of someone else's practice. How about some friendly constructive criticism instead? If you are going to take the time to comment on this cesspool of idiocy known as *YouTube comments*, why not make it useful?
You are clearly a fuckwit. But just so that there can be no argument about what ving tsun truly is, you should look some videos of Wong Shun Leung and compare the shit in this video to the king of talking hands.
Oh yes, clearly I am. You, meanwhile, are the very model of intelligence and dignity. So, to sum up your well thought out position here, you are comparing a bunch of students, who are relatively new to the art of Wing Chun, to master Wong Shun Leung? Brilliant! I had no idea students were expected to perform at the same level as masters. I've been doing it all wrong! I'm done with you. Enjoy your negative, miserable approach to life.
Hahaha! Great argument there guys. Always nice to have something to laugh at after the videos. But I also agree with you. I've been doing MA for about 19 years and I'm also taking a Wing Chun instructor exam in a couple of months, I think this video is pretty good and the students all seem to be enjoying themselves. But in a mild defence of the other guy...he was right about practicing hard on your basics, especially grounding. Too many people bounce about the place like they're on springs!
SiFu Dmitri is a excellent teacher and friend. He likes to have fun, games/sports, camping and training with them. They train WT, work hard, nothing wrong with their training, same as any with individual exceptions. People have different ideas of the same path, this teacher really understands this, and talks to his students/friends about making the chooses that is best for us.
yes, i enjoyed this vid, and thanks for posting. it was also refreshing to see a bunch of students (& teacher) who were so calm, friendly and humerous. the absence of hubris and big fat egos was very refreshing.
I learnt a long time ago, no matter how hot it is you don't train in short pants. Why? Because the one time you do someone will get the camera out and you'll look like a schoolboy lol. BTW, what does 'creazy' mean. I thought he was doing a good job controlling a large class, giving personal instruction to everybody and making sure it was enjoyable for all. In my books that's a good instructor!
2. No, MMA (in the sense of the sport) is a ruleset. You make it sound like you think that it is a style of its own. A majority of fighters use the Boxing + Muay Thai + Wrestling + BJJ combo because it is the most realistic.
3. BJJ is the most effective for of self defense out there if you want to believe it or not. The hard surface won't matter at all since if the guy knows anything about grappling the only person who will be feeling the pain of cement will be their opponent.
BJJ is a great grappling style, probably the best. but would you want an army of grapplers? they would all hit the ground and then get speared by line 2 of the enemy. i have been a bouncer, and a grappling fight soon encounters bouncers, or kicking spectators, or thrown bottles... stay on your feet in a real brawl, and stay lucid. PEACE!
I'm doing WT now for round about 16 years. I've seen many different styles, and had a lot of teachers. (F.E.: Sifu Thomas Braun, Sifu Salih Avci, Sifu Salim Avci, Sifu Victor Guiterrez)
I have to say, that the instructor in this video is one of the fascinating, I've ever seen.
If somebody knows, where to find him, or his school, please let me know. I would like to train with him.
if you guys ever fought and had done somekinda sports martial arts or martial art you guys wouldn't be saying this stuff is usless, might be to you but everyone has their own "way of fighting" so you guys should just relax find people that do mma, jkd, martial arts, wrestling, w/e, make friends practice together and get better at what you do
You're a fucking dipshit. If the techniques are bullshit, you credulous loon, that means they don't fucking work in reality. Now group up you child and live in the real world.
would be great, if more people would think like you and understand that, kenseisato1989. i try to teach my students this way of thinking. there is no "best martial art". do whatever makes you happy and improve as much as possible. focus on your own development.
and to those who think something is useless. try it, then judge it.
It's good to see that your class room has grown since the first crazy video I witnessed. I have a instructor that trains his students lilke you (TWC though, not Eimn style), and it's good that you do it that way. You want to spar, or train as close to real life as you can get. So when real life situations come at you, you easily, and clamly know how to handle the situation. Keep growning through your style of wing chun, because your a good instructor.
Lets get one thing strait, Wing Chun is a martial ART first and foremost. People chose to learn a martial art for numerous reasons such as to improve fitness, to engage socially, to learn some self-defense techniques but also because they want to learn an ART. This expands your mind and sets one apart from the knuckle dragging neanderthals who just want to learn how to destruct. I could teach anyone how to be tough - go and buy a baseball bat. I can't teach everyone humility though
You practice both, My WC school mostly focused on street attacks so we would mostly practice against hooks, crosses, uppercuts(wc has counters to them) but we would also train the traditional wc vs wc gotta mix them up. and yes no one in a street fight will attack you with chain punches unless they do wing chun.
We do the same, I also do that during the Lat Sao drills. My master told me to do that since it simulates a real fight and I really do like it because then I also can train my speed and power. Believe me, a lot of people on the street cant do a chainpunch, just imagine how many people punch wrong or keep their fists in a bad pos so they hurt them selves. A lot of people use their arm muscle so they raise their arm to the back, once they do that you can chain punch them on their neck.
i do wing chun 3 years ago... and why the fuck do you think we only practice agaisnt wing chun??? becouse you saw it on a video uploaded by someone in this world? dont be such stupid... if you assume we dont practice agaisnt diferent MA styles just becouse you saw it in a 5m video then shot ur self in the head.... out of this youtube world of bullshit speakers all masters of a city know each others, go party with each others and test their skills and watch their friends classes....
Those are also the basic applications they teach you how to defend you'r self against the most common attacks like you have mentioned. Once you master them properly you can do them faster and faster.
MT punches like straight/hook/uppercut/bodysho t/knee combinations are very easy to defend from them. If some one attacks with a side kick, just walk in his direction and kick him in his balls, and dont drop your hands down during the kicking else he would hit you on your face.
All of his students practice with and against bjj and other arts. The teacher is very capable of defending or using grounds techniques. People think they know so much, just from watching a video.
Whether you agree totally with their technique or not, it looks like a well organized, balanced and healthy school. I hope they are developing people's bodies and minds and not a bunch of childish zealots with something to prove.
Certainly, SiFu Dmitri uses lesson from Tao Te Ching, and Confusious...He believes martial arts is a great way for people to discover themselves and strengthen their physical and mental attributes.
You do gymnastics, right, something I love as well. But as far as you calling this easy training, "pattycake", haha...YOU DO GYMNASTICS! Go jump on a trampoline!
This video was some basic skill and light endurance training...I believe there are great number of cheerleaders out there ready to argue that point...So, in what way are most other martial arts school much better, and less pattycakish? I may defend this school, but I sure don't go around making pointless and disrespective comments towards other schools. Make sure you come back here and comment, on how much of a badass you have become because you train somewhere else, yeah GOOD JOB, huh.
the school could be increadible. absolutely astounding at teaching. the question is what are they teaching. my comments are directed towards wing chun not the school. the style itself is questionable. its my oppinion that this style is worthless, like aikido. maybe not when being used against a light weight street thug, or someone with down syndrome but definetly against a boxer or a muay thai person. i think its one of the most pitiful martial arts out there. it looks like deer fighting
cool...deer fighting, actually it's crane and snake, also a fox. haha... But I like the deer reference. I agree in some aspects, boxing has a better upperbody defense, muay thai has lowerbody offense/defense+tie-up skill. Why, neither have ground skills, I am sure you would add BJJ. Also, muay thai has many of the same concepts as WC, only a few distinct characteristics separate them; trapping, high kicks, and exposure of their center. Although they treat everything different for the ring.
I am not really arguing with your opinion, but I would think you could recognize some flaws in your opinion...That's just my opinion, it may be flawed too...haha Train in any way you feel necessary.
At the beginning of the video they are doing simple chain punching drills, going back and forth crossing over each others centre line.
When they are locked in two handed contact they are doing the pun sao roll with the basic attacks from the first entry of the Leung Ting Wing Tusn system.
The girl in the glasses is working on the latter half of the WT Chum Kiu, and the leg business is the Chi Gerk element of Wing Tsun.

Akaalis 2 years ago
Why do you think they W.C. Modified it's technique it was upgraded to be able to fight with the kick boxers, muay thai and other different fight techniques. Technique should always progress it's like living being and it should evolve.
Aphexas 2 years ago
The modified version was made intentionaly faulty and from the feed back ive recieved from the overall WingChun community, majority are in consensus with me.........
Have you trained both systems and then make comparisons?
if you did you would not have made such an uneducated comment....
Akaalis 2 years ago
Well i trained only modified, but i don't see why i should take step back and train Traditional, don't get me wrong i have much of respect for the traditional, but, i just like to think that it couldn't get worse in age. Also you have a point i should say that kind of things about comparing traditional and modified, but it's just logical, that evolving art should be better like older one. Like son should be better then his father.
Aphexas 2 years ago
Bro before you even engage in an art do you even perform your research or what?
The Wingchun Master two generations before Yip Man named Leung Jan, taught wingchun to his two sons and his neighbour Chan Wah Shun. Jan feared that after his death Chan would try to belittle the sons and claim ownership of the system. So Jan intentionally taught Chan a downgraded and more defecient version of wingchun, with intentional-placed faults in it to him. So what happened when Jan and one of his sons died?
Akaalis 2 years ago
Chan drove away the remaining son irrespectively, stole and claimed ownership of the system. Yip Man initially learnt from Chan for numerous years but then went to school and met a KungFu practitioner who revealed himself as Leung Jans surviving son whom taught Yip Man. He followed the traditions of Wing Chun and taught the modified to his other students but taught the original and unaltered system to William Cheung and thus you have your two variations and divergences of the system.
Akaalis 2 years ago
So as you see, the modified system was not modifed because of improvement or further evolving the system, it was made modified in order to protect and assure that the right sucessor(Jan's son) inherited that which was rightfully his.
The modified system is only but a shadow of the traditional and this is something you will realize after(or if) you start in the tradtional system.

Thanks for taking your time to explain =)

In theory mathmatics works too, but some people suck at it too.
Every martial arts in theory works great, but applied to real situation, things will take there course and much of which is uncontrollable...people want to be action heroes...Even Highly trained MMA fights can't get there shit right.
Enjoy what you do, that's what counts.

Go train, be happy with your own way.

Hats off to their teacher!

well it is not the greatest form I have seen, not close. but, there is no reason to call it atrocious, the students still know how to fight. plus almost any martial art school that has a large amount of students has horrible training regiments because training should be with a small group of people. I do believe videos like this do give wing tsun a bad reputation, but all the better. wing tsun isnt a tournament sport so who cares and plus ud catch your opponent off gaurd if they studied

What kind of person goes around bashing other people's practice? At least they are sharing videos. I didn't see a bunch of videos on your YouTube profile showing your awesome form and applications. Are we supposed to just take your word for it that you are not an armchair martial artist while you are smack talking on the internet?
1984WakeUp 2 years ago 5
wanker. Simply because i feel no need to ask for anyone's approval or need some sort of ego stroke that my kung fu is pretty or looks good does not mean that the comments are inaccurate. This sort of nonsense is the reason such a great combat system is no given the respect it deserves.
synkronyk 2 years ago
Name calling? Check. Anonymous smack talk onlin? Check. Criticizing yet offering nothing constructive to help? Check. Yet we are all supposed to take your word for it. You fail to see that you were already stroking your own ego by making fun of someone else's practice. How about some friendly constructive criticism instead? If you are going to take the time to comment on this cesspool of idiocy known as *YouTube comments*, why not make it useful?
1984WakeUp 2 years ago 3
You are clearly a fuckwit. But just so that there can be no argument about what ving tsun truly is, you should look some videos of Wong Shun Leung and compare the shit in this video to the king of talking hands.
synkronyk 2 years ago
Oh yes, clearly I am. You, meanwhile, are the very model of intelligence and dignity. So, to sum up your well thought out position here, you are comparing a bunch of students, who are relatively new to the art of Wing Chun, to master Wong Shun Leung? Brilliant! I had no idea students were expected to perform at the same level as masters. I've been doing it all wrong! I'm done with you. Enjoy your negative, miserable approach to life.
1984WakeUp 2 years ago 3

I still cant believe people on YouTube commenting EVERY MA video about "how great MMA is". Jeez,
1). MMA = Mixed MA which means they use mixed styles
2). MMA = commercial its there just for profit and making people believe its so great.
3). MMA = uses a lot of grappling, believe me a fighter wont to that on the street since the surface is hard, or there might be multiple oponents.
DemoScener 3 years ago
1. True
The hard surface won't matter at all since if the guy knows anything about grappling the only person who will be feeling the pain of cement will be their opponent.
mooki69 3 years ago
BJJ is a great grappling style, probably the best. but would you want an army of grapplers? they would all hit the ground and then get speared by line 2 of the enemy. i have been a bouncer, and a grappling fight soon encounters bouncers, or kicking spectators, or thrown bottles... stay on your feet in a real brawl, and stay lucid. PEACE!

Hey Guys.
At least I have to say 2 things:
1. I'm sorry for my bad english...
2. No kind of MA is bullshit ;)

if you guys ever fought and had done somekinda sports martial arts or martial art you guys wouldn't be saying this stuff is usless, might be to you but everyone has their own "way of fighting" so you guys should just relax find people that do mma, jkd, martial arts, wrestling, w/e, make friends practice together and get better at what you do

would be great, if more people would think like you and understand that, kenseisato1989. i try to teach my students this way of thinking. there is no "best martial art". do whatever makes you happy and improve as much as possible. focus on your own development.
and to those who think something is useless. try it, then judge it.

Keep growning through your style of wing chun, because your a good instructor.
taocircle 3 years ago 3
Lets get one thing strait, Wing Chun is a martial ART first and foremost. People chose to learn a martial art for numerous reasons such as to improve fitness, to engage socially, to learn some self-defense techniques but also because they want to learn an ART. This expands your mind and sets one apart from the knuckle dragging neanderthals who just want to learn how to destruct. I could teach anyone how to be tough - go and buy a baseball bat. I can't teach everyone humility though

why do they practice WT against WT?`
a street attacker wouldnt use WT he would use normal primitive brawler punches or boxing/thaiboxing techniques
what happens if someone starts throwing MT punches like straight/hook/uppercut/bodyshot/knee combinations instead of straight WT chainpunches?
nekftw 3 years ago
You practice both, My WC school mostly focused on street attacks so we would mostly practice against hooks, crosses, uppercuts(wc has counters to them) but we would also train the traditional wc vs wc gotta mix them up. and yes no one in a street fight will attack you with chain punches unless they do wing chun.
XT18 3 years ago 2
We do the same, I also do that during the Lat Sao drills. My master told me to do that since it simulates a real fight and I really do like it because then I also can train my speed and power. Believe me, a lot of people on the street cant do a chainpunch, just imagine how many people punch wrong or keep their fists in a bad pos so they hurt them selves. A lot of people use their arm muscle so they raise their arm to the back, once they do that you can chain punch them on their neck.
DemoScener 3 years ago 2
i do wing chun 3 years ago... and why the fuck do you think we only practice agaisnt wing chun??? becouse you saw it on a video uploaded by someone in this world? dont be such stupid... if you assume we dont practice agaisnt diferent MA styles just becouse you saw it in a 5m video then shot ur self in the head.... out of this youtube world of bullshit speakers all masters of a city know each others, go party with each others and test their skills and watch their friends classes....

Johnf85 3 years ago
This video was some basic skill and light endurance training...I believe there are great number of cheerleaders out there ready to argue that point...So, in what way are most other martial arts school much better, and less pattycakish? I may defend this school, but I sure don't go around making pointless and disrespective comments towards other schools. Make sure you come back here and comment, on how much of a badass you have become because you train somewhere else, yeah GOOD JOB, huh.
Fastlan3 3 years ago
the school could be increadible. absolutely astounding at teaching. the question is what are they teaching. my comments are directed towards wing chun not the school. the style itself is questionable. its my oppinion that this style is worthless, like aikido. maybe not when being used against a light weight street thug, or someone with down syndrome but definetly against a boxer or a muay thai person. i think its one of the most pitiful martial arts out there. it looks like deer fighting
Johnf85 3 years ago
cool...deer fighting, actually it's crane and snake, also a fox.
Fastlan3 3 years ago
I am not really arguing with your opinion, but I would think you could recognize some flaws in your opinion...That's just my opinion, it may be flawed too...haha Train in any way you feel necessary.

Well, my learned friend
At the beginning of the video they are doing simple chain punching drills, going back and forth crossing over each others centre line.
When they are locked in two handed contact they are doing the pun sao roll with the basic attacks from the first entry of the Leung Ting Wing Tusn system.
The girl in the glasses is working on the latter half of the WT Chum Kiu, and the leg business is the Chi Gerk element of Wing Tsun.
I hope that has helped you.
