Why did everybody back in the '80s blame Whitney on her music not being "Black enough?" That's what makes me mad, her music was like Motown for the '80s! She clearly was following in Diana Ross' footsteps! But guess what, there were plenty of alternatives at the time! Anita Baker, Regina Belle, Sade, Miki Howard, Angela Winbush, Stephanie Mills, and more definitely had a more traditional, deeper R&B approach at the time!

@krakken242 I find it interesting that people want to blame Bobby for Whitney's downfall. Granted, he's also a lowlife, but Whitney was into drugs Long before Bobby came along. That's why Randall Cunningham (Philly Eagles Quarterback) dropped her butt. He was just gentleman enough not to expose who & what she really was. Whitney has been a hot mess since her teens. That's why her mother pushed her into music. The personna of goody-2-shoes was merely a publicity stunt by her record label.

They were a perfect "lifestyle" (hoodrats) match. It's truly sad & she can blame no one but herself because she came from a good Christian family, all the way back to her Great Grand parents! Sissy did All she could in raising Whitney the right way. Whitney is hard-headed & chose her own life's course, being fast!
