If somenone says Mew is EMO surely doesn't know what he's talking about. Mew is one of the most amazing bands composing music in the last decade. Their music is so specific there's no match. Mew is Mew! No other band makes the constant changes along their tracks, rhythm, melody, etc... like they do.

I think Mew defy categorization, but I'd say they're far more rooted in early '90s shoegaze and dream pop than "emo." I really don't hear the emo thing at all. I agree with others who have said Mew makes other music seem bland in comparison. They capture a certain magic and beauty that no other artist can. Seeing them live is especially amazing!

To those of you who have debating whether Mew is "emo" or not...the term "Emo" means emotional (basically, any music that drives you to feel an emotion). With that definition, bands like Mew, Mae, DCFC, Muse, Jonsi, and so forth would be labeled as "Emo". Although, that is just my opinion and if you choose not to think of those groups as "emo", then that's fine in the scheme of things.

ok in all honesty, emo used to be bands like further seems forever, dashboard confessional, damien rice and mae. not crap like hawthorne heights, uneroath and emery. and with all due respect, even if mew is far superior to dashboard and mae, it still kinda is in the same music group. Original emo

I liked many bands before starting to listen to Mew but now they all seem boring to me compared to it. Sometimes I feel like listening to for example my previous favourite DCFC's albums just for the memories that surface from listening to it but I just don't get the same kicks from it anymore now that I've listened to Mew too much :P

@Ssaaarra I completely agree, now that I've heard Mew nothing else compares... at least the music I've heard... it's all stale now in comparison, Mew is just something else; a work of art; waht music is supposed to be but not many appreciate.

i got to see them open for nin at the aragon ballroom in chi. they're great live.

In the current tour, they had only one concert scheduled in the US. And it upsets me that I am not close to Chicago at all. Texas would be a great place to have Mew perform -- I have a bunch of people around Houston that would love to come see Mew perform (including me).

I can hardly stand to not know EVERYTHING I can about Mew! I can also hardly stand not meeting them or going to a concert, I so badly want them the come to my area.

I wrote this whole song on my window song, it is my favorite song, (by my favorite band.). I've listened to alot of music, theres alot of shit out there. Mew made me cry the first time I heard them.They really make you realize that music is an art form;they take music to more than the next level and make it something truly amazing. I love them because amazing doesn't seem good enough of a word to describe them.

XD But it sort of failed because I couldn't get across to everyone how freaking amazing Jonas and Mew are and how they go above the level of normal music. They all thought I was a little weird for being so in love with a band they had never heard of. Sigh, if only everyone could understand the greatness that is Mew.
