well its not 4 evry1.. d students of reputed institutions will enjoy it... so wat about us??? when can i get this??? if ny1 knows plz rply 2 my mail id---- 770550@gmail.com
wont be 35 $ to the consumers, guarented that verizon will but this thing out as there ipad competetor for over 350 $ 10x the original..... capitalism at its best = (
Let reiterate that the cost of this tablet is 35$ without any commercial taxes, and not on subsidizing. On subsidizing by the GoI the cost further reduces by half to around 20 $ and it is the price 17-20$ at which it will be given to poor students.
Don't get so defensive buddy,I'm a CSE student myself, any of my lectures don't know much about android.Lets not bring US into this, rather celebrate what this video means to children of our country.cheers! :)
Rather then gifting a single IPad to some needy kid on Christmas, I would buy such 2-3 Tiny Andriod laptops & donate it to poor kids here. (If you are interested, check out NYCare.org or some charity organization. In New york, (or say any other city), there are lots of way to help kids on Christmas eve...)
@kedarnevergone If I did donate tech. too kids, it would be MAC or PC's, I just don't believe on giving anyone a company product that I am not familiar with the brand name. Mac I know from experience sells amazing computers and have used the IPAD and will purchase it when the price gets lower. The IPADS price is crazy right now, but the price will go down once it gets competition or newer models are released.
@UglyBetty70 so, you're for giving them a pc built by any numerous companies that charge from 300-2000$ usd? They've already been sending kids computers with versions like the OLPC which is about 150$ per laptop. Honestly at 35$ and looking at what it can do in real time, this thing is a steal. I admit that perhaps the "brand" isn't there, but realistically could you work out the budget for sending every kid an apple or a pc? It just isn't possible. This however offers a solution.
@bradagain The reliability for this brand is also a problem, it has not developed a reputation in North America yet..the brand/company name is huge when I consider purchasing a product even for other people. If it's only $35.00, how do they get it that cheap without cutting on quality or cutting on the workers pay of labor?
@UglyBetty70 Tech products are a lot cheaper than you think, what we pay for is the brand, markup and I hate to say it, Gimick. I know companies produce things to make money but given the fact that the cost of an iPad is 260$ to produce but the starting price is 500, it seems entirely possible to build a low cost tablet alternative. Mashable . com had an article on the actual ipad cost
Reliability is relative, show me one tech product that doesn't have problems and i'll call you a liar
@bradagain Oh, I believe that the companies mark products up like no tomorrow..
and all products do have problems. However, reputation is big for me, how the company treats and pays workers is also a factor in purchasing the product..Thats the clinch, I don't buy from places like walmart who support companies that pay workers fifteen cents an hour. I'll pay more for a reputable company even with the markup.
@bradagain Apple for example admitted too using child labor in sweatshops when building the IPHONE product. Alot of people don't know this information before purchasing products and what work ethics it supports.

Similar EKEN 'apads' cost arounf $100-$150. Are a tad bit slower, and with less peripheral connectors. No way this is going to be $35.
