• He sound so damn scary with that bass

  • Luv this song but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much showing off from these guys, why you gotta go spoil something which is so perfect as the way it should be done? Don't wanna form an opinion on the group from this track alone but Crossroads have got it down. That's barbershop. This....not so much

  • @dudonne

This isnt quite supposed to be barbershop. Its supposed to be more of a Spiritual feel.

  • NICE QUARTET OF THE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH... !!!

  • These guys are good (Jerden or Jordan), it doesn't matter, we want to go to heaven when we die.

  • It´s a great bass or is a bariton? Wonderfull voice

  • @gebelineliza Bass :) Baritone is one level higher than the bass Gary Evens the one singing wayyyy down low is the bass :D

  • uwezo86 what group do you have? I left a group a long time back and I miss singing acapella.

  • When i get to heaven, i'm going to ask Christ if i could sing bass.... Bless you guys...

  • i'm a bass and i honestly can't go that low

  • I'm looking for a bass singer for my group ..anyone?

  • Awesome. Bless you guys. Outstanding performance.

  • Well here comes some education. Acappella is composed of members of the church of Christ. And Jerden was the pronunciation by the simple black people who sang the song when they assembled, it is related to the southern speech as well as to the black uneducated speech of the time. It is is still seen in places of the south.

  • @stanleybadams my name is jordan and it erks me when an older man or woman calls me jerdan

  • Nice Quartet of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church... !!!

  • Não me canso de ouvie essa música ela e muito maneira sem contar o baixo!!!rs muito show

  • I love group Acapella!!!! very good!!!

  • esse BaixOOOooo Ñ é normal naum vei!!!

  • i love this video of gary evans singing roll jordan i miss seen gary evans with the acappella group.

  • One of the great line ups of this group... The only problem is that this line up just released one album that simply lost a lot of their essence =S

  • sou brasileiro mas esse é meu grupo vocal favorito!

  • what's the name of the guy who sing bass?anyone?

  • @halsuita This bass singer is Gary Evans Jr. He's not singing with Acappella anymore... their bass singer now is Wes McKinzie

  • Good bas, finally, something new and inspired

  • @rmisztal666 u jus seeing this?? lol This is kinda old lol BUT YES GOOD BASS! His voice blends better with this group than with Exapella. Maybe it's cuz they had more practice.

  • bother u wernt there u ought of been there

  • I like how homeboy Gary almost blew my speakers @:58

  • Comment removed

  • Rooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooll

  • what a bass & a melodious backup.Love it coz it almost shuttered my windows &water glasses

  • Who is the guy standing beside the lowest bass voice?

  • @alabamagrl445 Gary Evans

  • That is some base @ :58 sec!

  • WHAT is the name of this Quartet?

  • @bsocialis The name is Acappella

  • It's pronounced "Jerden" often in the deep south. The football stadium at Auburn University (2010 National Champions) is Jordan-Hare Stadium and it is pronounced like these folks are singing it.

  • Course the bas singer is awesome...where are these boys now???

  • really we have alot goingon in the world and we arge over JORDN or JERDAN you say JORDAN I SAY JERDAN GROW UP YALL

  • one more to ozzirt: I'm from the deep south so...as was already pointed out here, it's a negro spiritual, and the black community usta say Jordan as Jerdan. Don't know if they still do, but...lots of southern cities have a Jordan Street and the older people, black AND white, pronounced it Jerden.

  • @cleckell Listen fukwit I don't care what "usta" be done. I can't help ignorance, even the oldest Black alive would have had time to learn how to pronounce a word.

  • @nawesome That is clearly nothing more than a grovel. Which is indeed a guttural sound. There's a difference between a pure resonated low note and a belch. That was ridiculously stupid. The bass trying to show off like that ruined an amazing arrangement.

  • Comment removed

  • The bass... uh... he tries to show off but it just sounds like groveling...

  • @stringX90 He's recorded the second lowest note ever sung by a human being

  • @nawesome It's not a note :/ It's guttural sounds.

  • who is this neways?

  • @greatpunisher the group is called acappella

  • dank bass

  • jordan will always roll gud work

  • the deadliest base!

  • @jaaahblastinq bass, but its chill

  • Well, it's not Isaac Freeman is it. He doesn't need the mic pressed against his mouth to compensate for lack of tone or projection - or a low mid boost on the eq - - I don't mind this guy trying but I really hope it doesn't detract from people hearing the real deal. Have a look at Fairfield Four's version.

  • el bajo mas bacano que he escuchado....

  • Anyone knows where can I find more vids about this specific concert????

  • The Bass at the time was Gary Evans.

  • WOW THESE GUYZ ARE COMMING TO JAMAICA SOON, CHECK OUT MA VID SINGING AN ACAPELLA JOINT ITS A MUST SEE

  • The bass is Deeeeep

  • what is the bass name?

  • @NotMeLilAme Gary Evans???

  • @NotMeLilAme Gary Evans

  • That is truely an awesome bass singer

  • Where are they now?

  • Jerden??? I thought that it was JORDAN......

  • @ozzirt southern pronounciation

  • @ozzirt the people that sang it originally would have pronounced it "jerdan", so that's probably why they sang it that way. other people who sing this also pronounce it "jerdan."

  • @gaskell9 Can you give me a credible reference for that. I think you are making it up as you go along.

As long as i have spoken English Jordan has aklways been pronounced as just that Jordan, NOT Jerdan.

They can say it properly if they care to try, as you will hear at 1:58.

  • @ozzirt Yeah, I pronounce Jordan "Jordan" too. But if you want a credible reference, try looking up the article "The Gospel Truth About the Negro Spiritual" and go to page 6, where it talks about the slave dialect and mentions the whole "Jerdan" thing. Also, you can check out other performances of this song, most performers pronounce it "Jerdan."

  • @gaskell9 That in no way affects the pronunciation of the word, If my child says B'sgetti for Spaghetti, that does not mean that all children must do it.

It's time these guys got their act together and realised how it detracts from their performance. People are just waiting for that next stupid pronunciation instead of listening to their singing.

It's like waiting on a concert pianist who always hits a wrong note at the same place in a piece. Painful,....

  • @ozzirt hey the song is a negro spiritual. thats how they pronounced it when it was originally written.

  • @Oesch47 And it appears they haven't learnt to speak English in the last 100 or so years.

I always wondered why these brain dead (c)rappers always talked like they had just came off the ol' plantation.

  • @ozzirt Hey, it's how the song was originally written, thus they are respecting the writer's work and keeping it like it was originally intended. And, "learnt?" Hmm. I guess it DOES appear that people haven't learned how to speak English in the past 100 years.

  • Comment removed

  • @Oesch47 Why are you so damned determined to prove what a clown you are. Not only do you not know written and spoken English, you are to damned stupid to Google the word and check before making an absolute goose of yourself.

LEARNT - past participle, past tense of learn (Verb)

    1. Gained or acquired knowledge of or skill in (something) by study, experience, or having being taught.

    2. Committed to memory,... & etc.

    Source: Oxford English Dictionary

  • @ozzirt Sorry to prolong this already tedious discussion, but for Americans the Oxford English Dictionary is not the greatest source on the planet, unless you are British. Study the Wikipedia article on it and find the criticism section. Why must you spew out venom all over Youtube? I guess it's true that the use of profanity (seen in your other comments) is only the sign of low intelligence trying to express itself forcefully. Yes, I know Wikipedia is not the source to end all sources, either.

  • @cleckell You damned idiot. The Oxford English Dictionary is regarded as the absolute final arbiter in things regarding the English language, yet you in your great wisdom, quote from Wikipedia. ???

Your logic is badly flawed, your argument is non existent.

  • @ozzirt its an old negro spiritual. the slaves that made up the song pronounced it Jerdan.

  • The people singing are not slaves, they are people who have had the benefit of at least some education. They should use that education, My next door neighbour's kid says B'sgetti for Spaghetti, I don't have to ape him.

  • @ozzirt ok. they are singing it the way is was written. when you become a singer you can sing it however you want.

  • @WLgrad05 It was written,.... wait for it you clot,............ JORDAN.

    Read TF Title.

Fcukin' arty craftys, you are all fuckin' experts, what a pity you can't read. Read the facts and leave your vivid imagination where it belongs.

  • @ozzirt its always been pronounced and performed as jerdan. shut the fuck up

  • @Wrayster91 Sorry fukwit, but no!, you are wrong Jordan has always been pronounced Jordan. It's pronounced as Jordan in virtually every English speaking country in the world.

So you are an idiot who mimics the uneducated, don't whine to me, just grow up and face a few facts for once.

  • @Wrayster91 thats real good Christian language right there.

  • @WLgrad05 If you notice the name of the clip, it is, Roll JORDAN,...

  • @ozzirt It's traditionally sung like that...strange, I know. Look up some more versions, you'll see what I mean.

  • @ozzirt In the actual song it is written as Jerdan. Its a cultural thing! :)

  • @apapization Oh Bullsh!t! .... Read the title of the video Clip.

Also, if youGoogle "Roll Jerdan", and it actually corrects your search to "Roll Jordan" There is no mention of it being Jerdan.
ACAPPELLA ROLL JORDAN ROLL LYRICS

Roll, roll Jordan, roll / I want to go to heaven when I die ... Oh you can see it roll, better roll, better roll (roll Jordan, roll Jordan) ...
• @ozzirt It's a "southern gospel" song, so they pronounce it differently. The song is actually roll JordOn roll. (I capitalized the different letter) but ya that's why they pronounce it differently. :)

  • They pronounce it differently because they know no better. It is not a problem of pronunciation, but a problem of "affectation", in stupidly imitating those who know no better.

  • @ozzirt African-American original lyrics. Also perhaps more singable. Title pages usually say Roll Jordan Roll and then actual lyrics are Jerdan.

  • @markbbriggs Can you supply a source for that?

watch?v=Uw4ROgz9icU Because here is a group who do not agree.

  • POWERFULL!! I love that bass

  • guy wit da last roll was nice lol...

  • great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What an awesome bass!!!! They are ALL great, but that bass is really special. Anyone notice that when he talks, his voice doesn't sound bass or particularly deep at all?

  • nossa q harmonia....e q som grave e cada oitvada parabens

  • i love these guys.

  • SAY WHAT HOW DID HE DO THAT ITS AMAZING WHO IS THIS BASS

  • @AVBComeBack Gary Evans

  • Nego estorou meu phone =x

  • I know I'm only a baritone now but one day I SHALL sing like that

  • @Megalownote

To me it sounds fried, it probably is, who knows. I've seen tons of people on youtube thinking fried notes are the real deal. Maybe I've got it all wrong, but all I can do is listen to the note and say what it sounds like.

The B0 here sounds _very_ fried, just like PDK's Eb1 in 'Lay it down', or Sumners C1 in 'Walk that lonesome road'.

But then Casey Moo's C1 sounds quite fryish as well, and he swears it's not... I dunno dude, it's a big mess.

  • hahahaa LMAO at that Deep ROOOLLL!!

  • @shandomrhit Indeed it sounds like vocal fry, and it's a bit of a "lazy" way to reach the low notes if you're bass (I'm a baryton singer). I can hit C below clef, but only when I'm in the fry register. But hey, if it sounds good and fits the situation then I see no harm in a little switch to fry to spice it up. Thumbs up to Gary! :)

  • again, not to belittle acappella because i grew up listenin to them...and gary evans is talented as well...just passing on some bass singer insight :) God bless.

  • as much as i appreciate Evans' vocal timbre/stylings among a sea of basses who either dont REALLY have the lows...or have them and are boring...

gary does fry the notes (if u dont know what vocal fry is, look it up)--it seems--below the low C. he can probably hit B1, and i think i've heard it before, without fry...but he does fry that and below in this video most-if not everytime...

  • esse cara tem prega vocal de boi!! foi trocada em laboratório!!!

imagina esse cara acordando pela manha!!!!

  • Very...very...

  • Awesome video,,,bass was awesome and i could hit that low note that Evans hit

  • @chulomark37

    Heh, yeah, right.

    Proof or didn't happen.

  • Comment removed

  • @Jouwl

  • @chulomark37 ...and I can pull diamonds out of my ears

  • @iburnedthedinner What a fascinating talent. Can you do anything else?

  • @kelbym07 My arse has recently run out of sapphires, so no, I can't.

  • @iburnedthedinner Aww damn.

  • @kelbym07 Sorry dude :-(

  • Good stuff. My screen name means nothing to you guys. You are anything but the normal doosh's on here. The bass man, damn that is low. Are you sure you didn't fix this with some creative editing? LOL :) Great job!

  • looking to start an acappella group in the houston area. If anyone is interested call me at 281-748-8732 ask for kevin....thanks guys

  • @hbuckner70 would have been glad to join but im in South Carolina

  • I was thinking "We'll I can sing all of those bass notes" and was singing along just fine. When he did the super low dip at 3:35, no way I can do that, or the last note. I'm a low bass, with the C below bass clef being my lowest on an average day. Those "double basses" as some have called them, blow my mind though.

  • eita, tremeu tudo aki, ta louco

  • Muito Bommm

  • FENOMENAL, MUITO BOM MESMO!!!

  • that bass is amazing but that last real low note he had some serious vocal fry going on there it was just too low but I sing bass and I can't go anywhere near that low (I'm in the "normal" range) but anyway great song & great group!

  • @MrKyledude18

Yeah he overdoes it several times, he should stick to his tessitura like all good singers do.

  • I just love the way the guys hammed it up on this awesome song!

  • The bass hits a note at 1:03 that not many can. He tries to get too low later in the song.

  • this is sooo kool check out my vids. please comment

  • Show o grave dele

  • Maravilhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

  • The bass is amazing. But not for the low notes. His intonation is excellent and his voice unusually agile. Below the low B his timbre is not so good and the sound reinforcement has to fix up things. Anyway he has really a wonderful voice in the standard bass range. He's very talented. The low low notes are a joke, I think, they are of no use to the harmony, as they need to be octaved, as any composer knows. But I see these low frequencies catch the audience, so they are part of the show :-)

  • we all know how smart you are now! good boy.

  • To "xAdam95." No, it is not the mic. Listen to some of the great bass singers of Southern Gospel Music. Example: J. D. Sumner.

  • @asoberaddict actually, all the notes below the low c ( second octave of the piano) are hard to hear because of the thickness of the throat, the mic assigned to the bass singer needs some measurements in order for the notes to be heard better, ask any musician, a bass using a normal mic, will just make the speakers make a annoying sound due to the amount of hertz transmitted.

  • Even if the bass is boosted, he still has to have somewhat of a bass voice to sounds like that. No matter how much you turn up the bass, a tenor can never sound like that :P

  • No tricks. I sang with Gary for 2 years and he is a beast. Sure the mic makes him louder, and the EQ is set to compliment the low frequencies in his voice.

  • mate there are people that can do that without any technology... tah dah

  • muy bueno!!

  • What's the group called, and where are they from?

  • @archiefan997 they are called "acappella"

  • ecxelente!1!

  • Acappella

  • gary evans jr.. does not look as if hed have that sound coming out of him.

  • u know u really got a point there...u know quite a few bass singers look like that...including myself lots of people tell me that i don't look like the bass singer that I'm of the "tenor" image lol but amazing really great stuff!

  • its amazing

i wonder how he sounds without the mic though.

  • Insane!! the bass (Gary Evans jr) is the best I have heard beside Brother Britt of Acappella also.

    God bless acappella

  • holy bass!!! :)

  • esse gary evans alem de tudo é lindo

    hehe

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!

  • When I heard the Skinny White Guy sing that low note, I was shocked that it wasn't the Black guys singing the low stuff.

  • Swing Low Sweet Chariot has some beautiful bass/baritone.

  • That's the bassiest of all bass I have ever heard!

  • FANTASTIC!!!! i love the lowest voice O_o

  • oomg what a powerful bass! never heard anything like it you guys are awesome!

  • i'd never hear a powerful bass like this!

  • What do you mean they're terrible?? They're JUST AWESOME!!!!!Please, if you can't appreciate good music, go for reggaeton or something

  • Try Acapella singing "Criminal on the Cross" if you want a good sound from them.

  • MJKate.....I have thirty five years as a music minister and spreader of the gospel. For you to say these guys are in your own words "terrible" is not only ignorant...but flat out wrong. Why don't you try out for this group?? I promise you "terrible" voices don't make it. I listened to crossroads and they too are an excellent group with an amazingly clean sound. But Acapella can BLOW them away. This recording isn't a very good representation of them. Believe me.

  • The singing is about the message not who can sing better than who. God is number one and they are trying to point you to the truth. God Bless you all and may you truly know Him through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and May the Holy Spirit give you comfort.
