Hey wanted to say first of all that your video was very informative and i enjoyed it alot. Now i just bought myself a hiking backpack and i was kind of wondering if you could tell me what the loops sewn into the bottom of my pack are for? I think it might be for a sleeping bag or a tent but i figured i'd ask you since you seem to know quite a bit about back packs. Thanks
90 liters is far too large for a regular hike. It might be good if you are traveling to Europe and are going to pack things for more than just hiking, but for weeklong packs you'd be better off going with their Sentinel 65 liter. For instance I am getting a 46 liter pack for my weeklong which is half the size of that and I should be fine. I wouldn't go more than 65 liter.
Most backpacks have a sleeve on the inside of the main compartment closest to your back where a hydration pack can fit. Or if the pack is a trampoline back (mesh screen against your back like REI venture series) then you can put the bladder in the open space and feed it through the hydration port. Personally, I just put the bladder at the very top of my stuff in the main compartment.
