Dear Nascar,

1. The cars haven't change in about 15 years, please let them build a beautiful car for once.

2. It's time to take the cookie cutter ovals off the schedule (Vegas, Texas, Kansas, ect. )

3. Shorten the races or even have more allstar format races (heats and features structure)

4. The only races im seriously watching this year is Daytona, Brickyard, Dega and then check back in when the chase starts.

@924RARChevette Actually the reason is that when a pusher gets behind a car the air bypasses the spoiler of the front car and reduces the drag its spoiler creates.

NASCAR's point of reducing the spoiler size was to speed up individual cars and packs as packs are not as aerodynamically efficient as the tandems.

They really should have just removed them entirely.

Pack racing is dangerous and boring. If they wanted to get rid of the tandems all they needed to do was remove the spoilers, the cars wouldn't handle as well as they do and we could have had some real racing where the drivers would actually have to slow down for corner entry.

@NascarFreak3 Wrong. The tandem effect is that the air bypasses the spoiler almost completely and thus allows the higher speeds, the high grip Daytona has for the time being allows that. Removing the spoiler would simply allow the cars to run 206 without the necessity of bump drafting, there would be no point in doing so as drag reduction is what the tandem style of bump drafting is all about.

@superdowg316Videos Smaller Spoiler = Less Down force, which = harder to handle. Car won't have as much down force with the smaller one. In theory, it should make two car drafting harder to do. We have already seen multiple people get loose randomly in the big pack draft as well... Just one of many attempts NA$CAR has made to remove the 2 car draft.

don't get use to this... They are doing this because NASCAR encouraged them to run as a pack. The drivers are still going to do what they have to do, and that will be the tandem junk. Once they figure something out, they can't really take a step back.

@kahnekid9 Yes, but they will race like this in the Daytona 500 for the majority of the race. Yes, they will tandem for the last few laps and here and there, but this will be the main way that they will race this year on plate tracks. I assure you :)

So basically Nascar took downforce away from the cars so they will be able to crash. That's really smart when cars are pack racing on a 200 MPH oval. Apparently nobody learned anything from the events in Las Vegas last year.

@deadleg6 Those are two totally different types of cars. You are comparing apples to oranges here. The COT is so safe. There have been so many terrible crashes that would have killed 10 years ago that have instead had drivers walk away unscaved. And heck, I prefer the pack racing. That two car crap was awful and boring. Plus you weren't racing the other cars. You were hooking up with another guy and just letting physics win the race for you.

That being said, yes, the COT is very safe, and the addition of the SAFER barriers helped lessened impacts by a tenfold. But with a new type of danger presented, maybe drivers will race smarter this time around.

Besides, everyone knows that Wheldon died because his head hit the catch fence at a bad angle, well above the SAFER barrier.

This is good and bad, pack racing is good but the bad factors are that the pack is gnna be split after pit stops and that watching people who would not normally be up front finish upfront because of the 2 car packs, for example dave blaney finishing 4th last year at talladega and david gilliand, bobby labonte finishing in the top 5 and trevor bayne winning the daytona 500.
