@youronlycow I've never worked for Dave, though we did talk about making these videos. I make videos because I enjoy flying and sharing. I still plan to do more, but my occupation (growing pecans) has kept me incredibly busy these past 2 years. Hopefully I will find some more time after this years harvest.
can someone tell me if a 5000kv brushless motor is too much for the Hawk sky? or a 3000kv is also too much. because i can get a 35 amp ESC along with a 5000kv or 3000kv motor please answer :)
Hey man please answer me, I notice that the hawk sky comes with wheels but only for the front... Won't that mean that the back gets scratched when taking off? cus it's dragged across the road...
@Cowdrinkingwater I hand launch my planes, so there isn't any contact during takeoff. I don't use the landing gear, so the plane lands on its belly. I use a strip of clear packing tape from nose to tail in order to reduce wear. Thanks for watching, and happy flying.
Thanks for the the videos. I'm buying one of these for my son (and myself) for Christmas. I bought him a 2ch Megatech last year and we had a blast with it until it stopped working after a couple months. I ran across a post you placed on RCpowers.com about possibly creating a tutorial on temporarily modding this plane to a 2 or 3 channel. Did you actually complete that tutorial? P.S. nice shot of the Organs.
@colombo187 I'm glad you enjoyed the video and the Organs. I didn't receive any interest in seeing a 2 or 3 channel version of this plane, so I never did the modifications. You're the first person to ask about it.
Wouldnt though for a full scale pilot you would want trim all the way set forward or is that for takeoff im used to flying gliders dont know if its the same and when you got ur plane did the receiver not work becuase it had no antena?
@PecanGrowerNM ok thanks but some people say that the receiver in therplane has no real antena type thing in it so it has basicalty to range at all and did you get yours from nitro planes. Thanks you for youtr help
Thanks for the info Mr pecan grower. That info will come in handy. For the first flight should I some how measure the voltage in the battery? If so ,how do I do that ? Multi meter? Is there a voltage meter that comes with the Hawk Sky kit? Thanks in advance.
I recently bought a hawk sky and am wondering how long of a flight do you get on the lipo battery? Also how long does it take to run the battery down to the recommended 30 % minimum? I am new to this lipo thing and don`t want to screw up the only battery I can get for this cool plane. Oh thanks for the video .I like the video of stalling .Very informative .Your like the father of RC I never had hehe ....thanks.
Hi 3xut. Thank you for your very kind words. I appreciate the encouragement to make more videos.
I fly my Hawk Sky for 25 minutes per charge. If I am only doing very gentle 40-50% throttle gliding, I can extend it to 35 minutes. That drains the battery to about 3.7v per cell for me.
Do you know how to repair them. I purchased a new hawksky and when I plugged in the battery I guest i crossed the wiring and it started to smoke. I don't know much about the plane still working with a simulator. I think I burned out the ESC?
Most likely the ESC is dead. My best suggestion is to contact the supplier you purchased from and ask them if they will replace the ESC. The ESC is not user repairable. Good luck getting your Hawk Sky into the air.
do you still work for dave?

Is it better to learn on this or on a 50mm t45 jet ? Whats more fun ???

@legoclone. I got mine from nitroplanes. I think rcpowers has a link to them on his website. The hawk sky is a great plane. I really enjoy it.

@flyerman967
Without getting into specific exceptions, full back elevator trim was my typical setting for takeoff and landing of full scale airplanes.
My radio came with an antenna, though it did not come attached to the radio. I had to screw the antenna into the radio before first use.

@flyerman967
I got mine from Nitro, and my receiver has an antenna that runs the length of the plane and sticks out the tail if I remember correctly.

when you say that your a full scale pilot what do you mean by that

Thanks for watching Cah. That means I'm certified to fly full scale airplanes. Specifically, I have a Single Engine Land private pilot certificate.

Nice job on video. I try that with my Cularis 102 inch wingspan on a baseball field
SerafinTiradoJr 2 years ago
Thanks, I appreciate that.
If the plane will fly slowly, it should work well regardless of wingspan. Baseball field should be plenty of room to land.
