  • Yo dawg i heard you like runs!! So i put runs in yo runs! while your mellos run while they run dem runs!!!!

  • The overtones ringing at the end was awesome :D

  • If this was barreling my way, I would happily let them trample me to death. It would be a peaceful death...

  • If I saw that coming towards me, I would shit myself

  • This would make an awesome battlefield declaration. "We are PHANTOM REGIMENT and we will BLOW YOUR FACE OFF with our HORNLINE! CHAAARRRRGGGEEEE!!!!"

  • Mello runs while running =O

  • This makes me depressed about just regular marching xD

  • @jub2k1 When jazz running to do go down to a certain extent because you're bending your knees to eliminate the feet from the sound. So a little bit of pop up at the end should be expected.

  • arent they supposed to keep the same level when jazz running not pop up at the end?

  • @jub2k1 It should be a noticeable pop-up. You aren't jazz running right if it doesn't burn a little bit.

  • @madra1997 Depends on your jazz run technique. In 2007 Phantom Regiment did demi-plie jazz run, the style where there is knee bend. However, in 2008 Regiment switched to straight leg jazz run. There is a very tiny amount of knee bend but not much. Shouldn't be much pop up in this style

  • Wow wow wow wow wow!!!!

  • Was the person taking this video running too? Makes me feel dizzy. Very good control, but please, couldn't we have a video that's easier to watch?

  • :O!!!!!! not trying to be sexist but HOLY CRAP chick playin euphonium!

  • DANG! Thats awesome! It makes it even more epic that they are playing the firebird.

  • I JUST SPOTTED MY ASSISTANT BAND DIRECTOR!

  • @astronomicat better respect the fuck outta that guy.

  • the firebird

  • I dont like that... I tried jazz running for the first time today and I did not like it

  • @junkthewhat jazz running normally isn't something that takes one try to get perfectly. lol

  • @xRetroismx I know but my bands marching instructor Is so good at it he makes it look so easy

  • @junkthewhat well yeah instructors can make it look easy. Mine do, but they marched blue devils for years. Lol and our guard instructors expect us to learn it when they have like 15 years of ballet experience. its kinda bs, but whatever lol just gotta try to do it. I finally got it down after 2 years, but it makes playing beautiful

  • That was amazing.

  • Awesome. There's just one corps that could do that stuff, PHANTOM REGIMENT! My dream is to come to America and march with them. gr. Soprano nr. 5 at Beatrix' drum and bugle corps, Hilversum, the Netherlands.

  • STRAVINSKYS FIREBIRD FTW!

  • I now see why that man was running. Omfj I would run like he'll too.

  • O.o That just... I can't even..

-dies from how amazing that was-

  • they need to do this around america! Show everyone how amazing band really is!

  • I've got to change my underwear, brb

  • Holy god.

  • For those keeping score at home, Phantom just ran 77.5 yards.

  • Wow, you gotta be kidding me!! Awesome control!!! Phantom is one of my favorites!!

  • Drum major: "Check; adjust!"

  • ...how did the camera man not shit his pants?

  • "alright good job!" (camera shuts off) "now do it again."

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!!! How can they still play so loud running? O.o FTW right there

  • Why O Why do they do that to Mellophones?

  • there is 5 people who dont understand how hard that is

  • Does the Camera guy not know how to stay still??

  • Did anyone else hear the AMAZING horn runs? Or was that just me.

  • @juliax1993 your ears are far superior.. you must be the only one that heard them!!! amazing!

  • Now...do it 1:2!!!!

  • Some of you people who respond back to our comments and reply with negativity are just straight up Assholes. Why can't we just be amazed at the talent that all corps have. I remember high school, IT Fuckin SUUUUUCKED.... You diehard D.C.I. fans don't know what us broke ass musicians had to go through just to stay in band, even though we had as much music in our blood as the next kid who had the funds to join a corp. Just enjoy the beauty, hell I would've given anything to be with the VK or BD...

  • it amazes me how people think so highly of this video when in fact other drum corps do this stuff all the time. Nobody really cares much to put it on here.

Just out of curiousity, if phantoms hornline is sooooo amazing, why havent they won a brass title in this decade? There are reasons for this ladies and gentleman

    bring on the hate

  • @Lightrix13 Sigh... you know so little. If Drum Corps were about the scores, you would be right, but it isn't. You are just a fool

  • @samrshelley its funny that you say i know so little. Ive been marching in this dumb activity for years, so i know a lot more than you think.

  • @Lightrix13 If it's indeed as you say a "dumb activity", why do you keep doing it and/or watching material pertaining to it?

  • @Lightrix13 have you even marched corp?

  • @Xandormin yessir

  • @Lightrix13 I feel bad for the corp you marched in, with that kind of attitude you dont seem like you deserve it.

  • @Lightrix13 because they don't have the luxury of sitting in chairs when they play! :P

  • hmm this is firebird isn't it? lol

  • brings new meaning to "wall of sound"

  • Those mello runs are........insane. Love this clip, can't see it enough times.

  • ow.

  • if you're going to record something so amazing, get a damn tripod... fail at holding still...

  • yay mellos :)

  • and people under rate phantom??? show them this and tell them what other drum corp can have such a beautiful tone as phantom does

  • if you thought that's hard, just listen to those mellos going through those runs!! jd shaw is so badass haha

  • @aireworks1 Between that and the tone/blend/warmth/power of the rest of the hornline, this is just incredible considering the rate at which they're moving.

  • and they did this in the show almost sideways!

  • Listen to the mellophones!

  • 0:32 trumpet holy shit long legs akls;dfja

  • /watch?v=jQFLIPzlp-4

    8:28

  • 76g87yh39ef8766ejohbedv8y39d xo2p0 Sorry, had to wipe my jizz off my keys. Very awesome1!!!!111!!

  • god this would make for the ultimate public prank like they do in Japan. can you imagine some guy walking down an alley only to have an entire corps running at him while blasting?

  • @papajohn5656 They're not blasting at all. It's just how musically they play there horns. If you play with a much rounder open tone. You won't have to blast. The orchestration of you playing musically will do all the work for you. Making it louder than it seems.

  • @BeatDrumSticks think you missed the point of my post, I know they're not.

  • damn, not a sey chick tuba player

  • @firsthr she's holding a trumpet but it looks like shes holding the contra

  • @TheDcifanatic either way she has a nice body haha

  • " alright, excellent, good job! " *camera shuts off*

    "now do it again"

  • could anybody do a tutorial video of how to do that?! that was amazing!, not a single movement in the upper body

  • Echo 0:28

  • Comment removed

  • Truly amazing how there sound is not at all affected, truly the best of the best right here.

  • Epic echo!

  • thats talent ! besides the intervals crushing down and pushing the tuba out of the line on the left ... thats hard work

  • THATS MY HIGH SCHOOL!!!! haha there on the same field were my marching band has rehearsals sometimes

  • Wow check out the babe on the left in the red bikini top toating the Contra now that is a real Woman! If I were 20, I would be in love ....

  • @snooperdad i hate to burst your bubble, but shes a trumpet player. I thought the same thing the first few times I watched it then I thought "why is the contra on the RIGHT shoulder?" you can see her at the beginning and briefly in the middle where it's clear that she doesn't play contra.

  • @snooperdad LOL she doesn't have the contra it's the person next to her. Her trumpet is like camouflaged into the contra :P

  • omg 0:32 i thought that was a nice contra chick too lol

  • @itwontcomeout5678 she is holding a trumpet.

  • "Good Job!"

    3 seconds later...

    "Run it back!"

  • Ok good job! One more time!

  • I would love to know how to play this

  • okay now backwards!

  • someone had posted the notes for this seems like they have deleted their post? anyone mind posting it please, thanks.

  • anyone else notice the ONE girl that ended +1

  • @JMdCProductions Yup! :D

  • @JMdCProductions

    She had nice legs.. LOL

  • @JMdCProductions

    who wouldn't XD

  • @JMdCProductions Kinda hard to miss that if ya know what i mean ;)

  • @JMdCProductions It wasnt plus one. The difficult thing about that exercise is that people will get pushed out of the form. Jazz running for that length with litte to no reference makes it difficult. However, the purpose of the exercise was for endurance training so it really doesn't matter. TL;DR: It wasn't plus one.

  • @JMdCProductions and it's a tuba player. Now what kind of an image does that give us?

  • @milroxsox actually she is a trumpet player. Contras are held on the left shoulder. Also you can see her trumpet and that her arms stay up for a bit when the contra goes down

  • @JMdCProductions Holy crap I never noticed that. I guess the "image" i talked about would be right then, huh? lol

  • @milroxsox hahahaha

  • @JMdCProductions I think she is just in third position which all of them are in, just her's is more open, 3rd position is just the way phantom halts

  • @JMdCProductions

I've heard PR closes in 3rd, so she might have just lost her footing

  • @PastNorwegianBlue yeah i believe you and @MatthewGmen are correct now that i look at it.

  • @JMdCProductions haha i just noticed that!

  • @JMdCProductions that's how the drill ends there...just saying

  • @Xandormin so then every other member in the corps is wrong? i think the best answer ive gotten so far is that she ended in third like everyone else, but her foot was just put out more

  • @JMdCProductions she clearly just got overanxious and wanted to keep going, playing those beautiful notes while jazz running ;)

  • @JMdCProductions i know i did. GIGGIDY!

  • @JMdCProductions, Nah She didn't finish +1, just her first position is a bit more exaggerated than the rest of the hornline is all.

  • @justvic77 yeah i realize that now that i look closer

  • @JMdCProductions you just summed up any marching activity, my friend.

  • I just got done watching their '07 show. This wasn't in it. What the hell?

  • @mashdoctor They did jazz run during that part of the music, except it wasn't straight across the field facing the end zone like that.

  • @mashdoctor it is in their show, they don't make a huge company front if that was what you are looking for...however they all jazz run at the same time, this was just an exercise to work on that part of the show.

  • Damn it!!!!! still a hot chick. even more bad ass if she marched contra.

  • holy crap after watching this several times i just figured out that the chick at the end isn't playing a contra, it's the dude in yellow shorts next to her... contra would be on the wrong shoulder.

  • DAMN!

  • that is a hot contra chick!!!!!

  • @euphzilla321 Haha look more carefully. The contra's the guy to the right of her.

  • I miss marching band :( all we have at college is pep band, but the Colts perform here so it makes up for it! (Dubuque for all those who don't know)

  • Beautiful 6 to 5!

  • @smit90 dummy, thats 4 to 5, why would phantom regiment waste their time jazz running a 6 to 5, anyone can march that straight-leg

...besides, if ya count when they hit a yard line, you'll see its 4 :) haha

  • @cathunter123 "why would phantom regiment waste their time jazz running a 6 to 5,"

Yeah, ummm they do it all of the time...

  • @utsuxrooster ...whatever...the point is, theyre doin 4 to 5, not 6 to 5

  • @cathunter123 But for the record... that wouldn't be a wast of their time, since they do it all of the time. They like to make you think their drill is harder than it is. But alas, they are definitely good at playing loud while running.

  • Female Contra = ownage

  • @antibear777 i think she's playing a trumpet... but the guy next to her is like really unseen... i may be wrong

  • @xleguimx Oops you're right. My bad.

  • How do they do it??? I have a move in our show where I'm practically running across the field, and I can barely get there let alone sound good while doing it! :)

  • i would be terribly afraid of this and they are in step!

  • holy. shit.

  • That jazz run was.... beautiful *teardrop* something to remember when im on the field this season :D

  • wow thats just crazy must take alot of practice for that to work lol

  • O___O

  • :O

    WOW!!!!! That's so cool!

  • If my band did that we'd sound like we were trying to sing while going 20 over a speed bump. =P Phantom Regiment is amazing.

  • Gotta love contras running....if not, then carry one your damn self.

  • jazz run lmao

  • I'm a dancer for my school's colorguard and I can't even jazz run that well let alone jazz WALK.

  • @AngelFace817 sad..

  • Umm, ummm Wow!!! I just can't quit watching it! The way they divide their lower and upper bodies is quite spectacular...such control! I just....how?

  • @trmptdreams squeeeeeezeandlift

  • @RBVTBONE lol, true, it would just be hard to execute. At least for me :)

  • btw is the song theyre playing firebird?

  • holy crap... RUN FOR IT

  • yeah - that's just ridiculous - why Phantom's one of the best

  • Finale to Firebird Suite + Hauling Major Ass = WIN!

  • wow thats hella scary i do marching and we are still trying to get the fundamentals of jazz running. and then to see this made me shit my self!

  • That CAN'T be easy?!

  • @Hawgbrew IF it was easy, everyone would do it, that's what makes it special and fun for the members.

  • god thats amazing!!

  • good job. now RUN IT BACK

  • I wonder how many people watch this and think that its really easy to do.

  • @svolypet Can't play worth shit while jazz running? BD = 22 brass titles. PR = 0

SO youre point is complete shit.

  • HOW THE HELL DO THEY DO THAT

  • @safros Magic :-)

  • In my eyes the idea of drum corps is to have everyone on the field do the same thing, the same way, at the same time. The degree to which this is done can be debated without end but at least in this video I think it's safe to say PR succeeded.

  • and people say marching band is not an athletic sport

  • @AVerbene - it not. BUT DRUM CORPS IS!!! ;)

  • They're only doing a 6 to 5

  • @Cometguy06 nvm

  • @Cometguy06 you act like keeping the ENTIRE line straight while playing like that and doing a fast past 6 to 5 is easy.

    you sir, would be wrong

  • @Cometguy06 it's a 4 to 5

  • OUTSTANDING! This is so hard to get everyone do it properly, well done PR!!

  • Freaking amazing

  • That was really really good!!! Just wow. It's amazing control.

  • Beastly mellophones. God i love phantom regiment.

  • ever wonder what the definition of epic is? well, there's your answer.

  • all this swearing and name calling does not speak well of the Drum Corps activity as a whole

  • They still lost their quality of sound. Lame.
