  • @TheNokie65 Hmmmmm.....you wouldnt be White by any chance?.. :\

  • "Eddie's mother let him play with George, because they promised her he wouldn't get in the drug scene."

Ha! That's like asking a wolf to watch over a flock of lambs and promise not to devour any!

Speaking of Eddie Hazel, it seems many have forgotten the great guitar work of Ron Brykowski ("polyester soul-powered token white devil"), on their early albums, most notably the solos on the 1973 album Cosmic Slop's "Standing On The Verge" as well as the title track, two of my favs.

  • I shook this man's hand after funk fest in Hampton, Va. Defienitely one of the highlights of my year.

  • i feel u about eddie he was the the mentor, but this is the prodigy, the kidd funkadelic

he was playing these riff right along with eddie at 17 , recognize this is Kidd funkadelic keep this and u will appreciate it in a minute, if u have any doubts listen to the original red hot mama.

  • CARALHO ...ISTO Q EU DIGO EM FAZER FALAR A GUITARRA!!!

  • AMEN !!!!! dorne

  • It is so ridiculous when I hear people compare Eddie and Michael. Both are great players with individual styles. If you have a preference listen to that and don't slam another great artist.

  • Michael does a great job, but Eddie Hazel's original had so much emotion that it's hard if not impossible to duplicate. It's a shame that George Clinton and crew did not try to get Eddie some help for his addiction problems, but maybe he wouldn't let anyone. Eddie's mother let him play with George, because they promised her he wouldn't get in the drug scene. I hear Eddie died broke and homeless and moved back with his Mom. It's so sad, but Eddie's music lives on. RIP Eddie Hazel!

  • they are two great guitarist but had eddie not had his issues..........there may not have been a kid funkadelic but Eddie is the originator and mike is a great duplicator

  • "Black Rock" for education purposes rock music originally formed from the Black culture.

  • Michael "Kid Funkadelic" Hampton is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. This is a beautiful rendition of Maggot Brain. Of course, there is nothing like seeing Eddie Hazel play it since he created the song. Eddie had a different feel, but Michael has been invoking more of that Eddie Hazel spirit into his renditions. To appreciate Mike's play or Eddie's play doesn't invalidate the other. They are both among the greatest guitar players of all time.

  • @SSW2424 Not his song done by the great EDDIE HAZEL who he cant touch . he is in the wrong room do your own stuff Micheal stop doing Eddies Masterpeace . you will never be him ....

  • THIS IS BLACK ROCK

  • es Dios

  • amazing!!

  • making a song always beat playing a song . live on eddie hazel

  • I've always liked the original studio version better because it captured the original vibe. All the live renditions I've seen have too much going on at the same time, and you lose that intimacy with the lead guitar.

Hampton can't match Eddie's emotion and feel.

Hampton's all skills, speed, and technique.

  • Man shut the hell up hater

  • kid funkadelic is the shit but it was the original kick ass that made the shit so dont forget MR. EDDIE HAZEL!!!!!!!!!!

  • No one's needs to know who I am. Most of us guys in the band were always in the background. By the way, do you know the name of Hamptons drummer? Of course you don't!!!

  • Listen, I used to play with both Hampton and Hazel. I know better than anyone just how great those guys were. This particular version of Maggot Brain simply sounded like shit to me. Believe me when I tell you that I've heard much better versions from Mike.

  • Oh yea you wish you played with them.Keep dreaming.

  • You sound like your about 17 or 18 years old, so I don't expect you to know much at all about the "Funk" era. I grew up with these guys, Hampton, Hazel, Bernie and the rest of them. Grow up!!!

  • I'm old school and can play Maggot brain with the best. I Love and respect Hampton, but this sounds like shit!!!!

  • what sounds like shit, the person who put the video? you know it's not the performance you're talking about. Hampton is one of the greatest guitarist period.

  • No one's questioning Hampton's mastery of the guitar. In my opinion he was one of the greatest guitarist of his time. This version however, sounds worse than other versions I've heard him personally play.

  • You played with the best.I guess thats why nobody knows who you' are.
