I am a tennis player and have played at pro circuit level for over five years and I know when a ref make a bad call. The impire was not suppose to award a point to the other player,the point suppose to replay according to the tennis rule. If you don't believe me check the impire rule book.

Under ITF code of conduct, first offense deserves a warning, ander USTA rules first offense triggers the point already. Dont know which one is applicable here, or if Serena has been warned by the ref in the match beforehand. In any case, I never heard of a replay rule for offense against verbal abuse cases...

I think the best decision would have been to REPLAY the point. The rules call for the player to lose the point IF the hindrance was intended to cause the other player to mess up. Serena hit a monstrous shot which Stosur clearly had no chance at. Serena's "come on" did NOT affect Sam getting the ball back. At the very best, Serena should have had to REPLAY the point. GIVING AWAY a BREAK at the start of the second set is CRUEL.

BUT, all things considered, STOSUR played better than Serena today
