Ok I'm kinda confused. Do they have a group HP pool or does the battle just simply end after Reno's (considerably colossal) HP is depleted? Or do I have it all wrong and it's timed?

I think it's because after the fight with Hojo, he won't get any more exp. so he can just keep killing off cloud in the battles until then while the others will get the exp instead.

Lvl 29 is the Low Level limit in FF7.
