@alkenemy my first poi i made out of tennis balls and shoe lace. they work good and they only cost about three bucks. then i watched some tutorial videos on youtube and found it very fun and easy to get into.

the frame rate of the vids a lil choppy for me to see clearly, but im quite sure that those are compound circles. (aka "flowers", hence the "petals" the light draws).

dude what fuel do you use? those light up pretty quickly...

you use kerosene as fuel. don't use any other gas aside from kerosene. you don't wanna explode yourself Ü

no no no i know that, i was saying he must have used something else... they lit up as soon as the flame touched them. mine take at least a few seconds to completely be engulfed by flame.

It could have been white gas, I typically burn white gas and it makes your fire poi burst into flame right away.

i used to make a mix of about 1/4 parrafin and 3/4 white gas and theres people that use parrafin and kerosene mixed

There is NO fuel for poi that is nontoxic, except for vegetable oil, but that shit almost doesnt burn =P

Pretty good rule of thumb, if it burns it aint good for you =P

I use parrafin fuel (N-parrafin) - aka lamp oil, a purer form of kerosene.

It sure doesn't light up that fast, but try squirting just a tiny tiny bit of good 'ol 95-gasoline on them, and they light up instantly!

If you pour a bit of gas on your poi they will light up way faster, and you won't explode (or even create a fireball) if you use like three drops on each poi
