Thanks for putting this on here. The Farran twins and my brother were great friends when they were all attending the University of Michigan. Ed and Fred spent one Thanksgiving at my parents house in River Rouge, Michigan. We saw them perform at the Top Hat night club in Windsor, Ontario and also at a shopping mall. They were, as people go, the best.
The 45 I had With you girl.I made the mistake of putting it on a cassette and sell the 45 at a garage sale. The cassette didn't do a very good job either so I don't either.
Now I find it on Itunes thank god. These guys are good !
I have searched high and low for this song for the last 30 years! Now that i have found it, I-Tunes does NOT even carry it! AARRGGHH!!! But, at least i favorite this here on YouTube i guess it's not all that bad. This is the original Boy band!
This is absolutely beautiful music. While the Lettermen's cover of this song is great in its own right, the Arbors (by singing the high parts in natural voice instead of falsetto and being a quartet which gives more depth to their harmonies) come out ahead of the Lettermen from a purely technical musical perspective.
@sippy1111 Very true, had it been released a few years earlier, it probably would have. In 1966, popular music was just beginning to go downhill and the best artists were having a tough time competing with lesser singers and songs.
@JJRaff18221882 In my opinion, the Beatles, the Stones, the Animals and some others of the mid-'60's are the roots of the downward spiral in music which has brought us to the sorry state the industry is in today. There were others over time which helped make it even worse, but that's where it started. The Beatles were so popular that anything they did became accepted, and unfortunately, as their music became more experimental, other artists followed by creating sub-par music. I like Elvis though
@ILoveJenni47 I readily agree that Elvis had a fine voice - no doubt about that. I just think that his pelvic gyrations were uncalled for. Especially when one knows that such things are only going to appeal to the most basic animal instincts of a large part of the audience. And Lord! don't even get me going on the Stones, Animals, et al.....Real talent, like Helen Shapiro for instance, ended up buried under all of that garbage. Vietnam and the drug culture didn't help matters either.
@JJRaff18221882 I agree, the late '60's became a mess with Vietnam, the counter-culture movement, the drugs, loosening of morals etc, which was all reflected in the decline of music which began during this same time. I was born in the late '70's, but have studied music history all my life. Assembling my large music collection, which I have amassed over the years, in chronological order and studying the culture of previous decades has made clear to me where the decline began (mid to late '60's).
@ILoveJenni47 (continuing my previous comment) Most of the great artists and singers of the '50's and early '60's were replaced by lesser talents and shoddy music by the end of the decade, with exceptions which became fewer over the years until, after the end of the '80's, good music had all but vanished from our culture.
@ILoveJenni47 You are so right,I was a teen in the 50s & I could tell music started sliding down that slippery slope in the mid 60s not too long after Kennedy was killed. It has gone to hell altogether now!
Almost forgot this little treasure. The Arbor's version was the best arrangement with perfect harmonies. Thanks for uploading.

This music will never die, unless we stop playing it for our young ones to learn to appreciate and want to share. Share if forward.

Just found out that one of the Ferran brothers (Ed, I think) passed away several years ago. The Arbors are, sadly, no more now.

@ILoveJenni47 You can blame that damned Elvis and the Beatles for a lot of the decline in western music.

@thedixierose913 It's a shame, indeed! Sad to see what music has become, but we will always have these classic recordings.
