178 people pressed the like button before getting lost in nostalgia; everyone else must have remembered about Silver Surfer and Battle Toads and are either rage-quitting them or basking in glorious triumph over them right now.
Games now on some system I won't mention are mundane. Talk about FPS with foul language and no English comprehension. Yes I will say it here Halo is a cheap no plot copy of metroid. Defend it if you can but it's no different from COD. pointless propaganda. Now battle field 3 that's entertainment lol.
Those kids there are our generation, guess what I will buy my children NINTENDO products but watch their play time. Am old and wise enough to know there has to be a limit on all things. Too much of anything is bad period.
She says: "Now I know how your spending the holidays, watching Nintendo." Then she says "now on to a much more serious report. That lady annoys me, lol.

This reporter is so before his time, he got a great idea of parenting! And like some comments already stated what about these serius reports? Its the freaking future he's talking about!
funny... i remember waitin in line for the dragon quest in japan with my mom. i dont remember much about mario 2 in japan. what i remembered is it looked really different from usa version lol and was less popular. to be honest, mario didnt really take off until mario 3 and super mario world with super famicon. i also remembered seeing nes for the first time. i laughed my ass off when i saw these kids blowing on the cartidge only to see the grey screen. that never happened in famicon.
That guy was the most intelligent reporter ever. Just limit the time and its fine. All i see now is hate on video games but this guy actually gets it.
I think I got my first nintendo like in 88 or 89.... and before that I don't remember knowing videogames existed, I was like 4 or 5, I don't even know how I found out nintendo existed... I've been told it was all I talked about but I really have no clue, one day I was taken to a store and they bought me a nintendo for christmas and I was like "what is that?" then I played and oooooooooooo I have never stoped. I got the nintendo with the laser gun instead of the running mat. Not a sports guy.
@kamivideos343 I have a friend whose only console is the NES. I'm not sure of how frequently he played it but he often made jokes about how that was his only system. I love the NES and contemplated taking it to school with me. It awesome and nothing of today can beat except maybe the.... no never mind nothing can beat it.
The chip shortage was genuine, as reported not by Nintendo but by chip manufacturers to other influenced industries.
As was reported by the New York Times in 1988: "A severe shortage of computer memory chips is hurting the sales of computers and placing new strains on the semiconductor trade agreement between the United States and Japan, an agreement that some executives blame for the shortage."
Nice Hudson controller one of the phone guys at Nintendo was using. I never knew that Hudson once sold hardware. Learn something everyday. If only someone other that Stossel had been the reporter, I hate listening to that Fox News wanker's annoying smug voice.
I like the end the best, when Barbara Walters is all "Now on to a much more serious report" and the video ends. Ha! Nothing is more serious than Nintendo.
@0639243 Speaking completely seriously here; it has been supported multiple times through various studies that violent video games, along with violent television (most television, actually), anger-heavy music and various other related media, do provoke a psychological reaction in people that increases aggressiveness. The widely-used catharsis defense (that I myself used to fall back on), is pretty much bogus. Of course parents of aggressive children can be blamed, but it doesn't change the fact.
@Vulcapyro thanks for the reply, I do recognize that there has been proven to some extent that violent videogames do incite kids to be violent, but what I criticize (which I didn't say clearly at all in my post) is the haters that pin all of the blame on videogames, that are just too blind to notice that there are a lot of factors that induce kids to behave violently, in my opinion it's completely wrong to pin all of the blame in just one factor, when there are many factors involved
@0639243 The whole "video game are destroying are children's morals" theory is what lead to people like Senator Joseph Lieberman and other politicians calling for censorship in games like Night Trap and Mortal Kombat in 1992. It all eventually lead to the forming of the ESRB ratings of today which was a big change for the video game industry in 1994. Some say that Joseph Lieberman's anti video gaming agenda is one of the strong factors for Al Gore losing the Presidential election of 2000.
I remember in 1989 when there was a rash of kids attacking people with boomerangs and bombs and people didn't think the debate over video game violence was so funny then, let me tell you. ;-)
@jrburke99 You have to understand that, back then, people wanted to forget about Atari following the 1983 Video Game Crash--that was caused when Atari allowed for the release of E.T. and Pac-Man for the 2600--and Nintendo had basically put video games back into the mainstream.
@jrburke99 - The Atari era was a phenomenon for awhile because there was nothing like it before. But then later Atari became adamant in going after intellectual properties ( i.e. E.T. or Raiders of The Lost Ark ) to make into video games; not realizing an important aspect to a successful video game is its gameplay. There was just too many poorly executed video games appearing onto store shelves and people began thinking video games was a fad.
with sophisticated technology capable of detailed graphics to convey an intriguing storyline, original gameplay levels, and sound. It was definitely a rediscovery which paved the way to today's video game industry. Much of Nintendo's fundamentals are still practiced today by them and their competitors like: the control D-pad, battery saves, and in-game passwords.
Lol these games will make kids violent the argument never changes. That was pretty cool though the question i have is what is that game in the middle of the video with the knight. (not zelda) its at 4:17
