  • The days of going home and playing a game that wasn't connected to the internet.

  • 5:08, fine print to the rite, Christopher Kirby.

  • These were before my times, but I got to play them... NOW!

  • 178 people pressed the like button before getting lost in nostalgia; everyone else must have remembered about Silver Surfer and Battle Toads and are either rage-quitting them or basking in glorious triumph over them right now.

  • These kids must be so old now! I wasnt even born yet! xD Anyways, Nintendo rules!

  • Nintendo still has the best games.

  • History at its finest.

  • kids today are becoming brain dead by playing cod

this shit actually works your brain

  • Games now on some system I won't mention are mundane. Talk about FPS with foul language and no English comprehension. Yes I will say it here Halo is a cheap no plot copy of metroid. Defend it if you can but it's no different from COD. pointless propaganda. Now battle field 3 that's entertainment lol.

  • Those kids there are our generation, guess what I will buy my children NINTENDO products but watch their play time. Am old and wise enough to know there has to be a limit on all things. Too much of anything is bad period.

  • awesome

  • XD

  • Oh, Barbara Walters, thats her name.

  • She says: "Now I know how your spending the holidays, watching Nintendo." Then she says "now on to a much more serious report. That lady annoys me, lol.

  • 20/20 was on the scene and scared of what the kids were getting into with their "Unusual language they only understand". I say? GO TO BED OLD MAN! WE GOT Nintendo to play!!

  • LIES IT'S NOT MARIO 2!!!!

  • @afrogamer921 it's just doki doki panic with mario sprites and a couple other things

  • This reporter is so before his time, he got a great idea of parenting! And like some comments already stated what about these serius reports? Its the freaking future he's talking about!

  • funny... i remember waitin in line for the dragon quest in japan with my mom. i dont remember much about mario 2 in japan. what i remembered is it looked really different from usa version lol and was less popular. to be honest, mario didnt really take off until mario 3 and super mario world with super famicon. i also remembered seeing nes for the first time. i laughed my ass off when i saw these kids blowing on the cartidge only to see the grey screen. that never happened in famicon.

  • YOU DONT KNOW!! IF YOURE A GROWNUP YOU DONT KNOW!! YOU HARDLY DO THIS BECAUSE YOU HAVE WORK TO DO!!

    :(

  • Nintendo is serious !!!!

  • Lol Barbara Walters and now onto something more serious... like video games isnt serious!

  • That guy was the most intelligent reporter ever. Just limit the time and its fine. All i see now is hate on video games but this guy actually gets it.

  • The headquarters building looks like a Nintendo system.

  • I think I got my first nintendo like in 88 or 89.... and before that I don't remember knowing videogames existed, I was like 4 or 5, I don't even know how I found out nintendo existed... I've been told it was all I talked about but I really have no clue, one day I was taken to a store and they bought me a nintendo for christmas and I was like "what is that?" then I played and oooooooooooo I have never stoped. I got the nintendo with the laser gun instead of the running mat. Not a sports guy.

  • haha the style of clothes of the late 80's early 90's is hilarious

  • UUUhhhhh that bitch at the end made me RAGE!

  • Oh boy they should see the games now...

  • It's amazing to think how these people would react if we showed them halo reach...

  • @IDropShotJFK Or better yet FEAR, or Mortal Kombat

  • i rember at school the teacher hated when you talk about nintendo

  • this was be for ebay days also

  • i rember this i was jrhi school back then the 8th grade

  • 8:23 WHAT A BICH!!!!

  • is it weard to say that im 11 years old and i have a nes and i love this better then anything

  • @kamivideos343 I have a friend whose only console is the NES. I'm not sure of how frequently he played it but he often made jokes about how that was his only system. I love the NES and contemplated taking it to school with me. It awesome and nothing of today can beat except maybe the.... no never mind nothing can beat it.

  • @osaji922 I know right i just got a new one and i still dont care that i dont have a ps3

  • whats nintendo, you might ask?

  • I dont know about ya'll but playing god of war made me want to rip my neighbors head off with a chain afterwords XD

  • Wait, was was Barbara's more serious report?!

  • at 1:55, is that girl wearing a Victoria's Secret PINK shirt? Did they exist back then?

  • lol those kids had there parents regulate there playing time XD i played my nes as long as i wanted, fuck em i still do lol

  • Deadly ducks?!

  • Nowadays, most grow-ups waiting in long lines for releases are the ones that play the games!

  • @ccricers

    heh true!!!

  • Reporter looks like Mario

  • The chip shortage was genuine, as reported not by Nintendo but by chip manufacturers to other influenced industries.

As was reported by the New York Times in 1988: "A severe shortage of computer memory chips is hurting the sales of computers and placing new strains on the semiconductor trade agreement between the United States and Japan, an agreement that some executives blame for the shortage."

  • Nothing ever changes. They're concerned about the violence in Duck Hunt.

  • Rad Racer ftw. The soundtrack was done by none other than Nobuo Uematsu!

  • Nice Hudson controller one of the phone guys at Nintendo was using. I never knew that Hudson once sold hardware. Learn something everyday. If only someone other that Stossel had been the reporter, I hate listening to that Fox News wanker's annoying smug voice.

  • john stossel is a lad

  • Thanks for uploading this. It's true treasure.

  • They should do a followup showing the same kids grown up today.

  • @jhsounds All of them in line to get their 3DS

  • "Now onto a serious report..." FUCK YOU BITCH, THAT WAS THE SERIOUS REPORT.

  • @harmfulifconsumed It's Barbra Walters, have you seen her on The View? She is an upper class white woman airhead republican. Pitty her.

  • @harmfulifconsumed she said "much MORE serious"

  • @harmfulifconsumed true story bro

  • @harmfulifconsumed

    lmao - that was funny

  • Wendy Stapen, doing what most parents are too inept to do.

  • What DID Joe DO to Jane?

  • @FullMetalFalcon

Well, back then he kissed her on the cheek, but today, he sucked her dick.

  • @FullMetalFalcon

    wondering that myself....

  • I like the end the best, when Barbara Walters is all "Now on to a much more serious report" and the video ends. Ha! Nothing is more serious than Nintendo.

  • @TacticsElf Reagan probably crapped his pants or something

  • super mario bros 2 sucks

  • Haha, "watching Nintendo".

  • Show this to John Stossel.

Make this his old shame. :)

  • You won't go brain-dead, just reclusive. Ha!

This video made me dust off my NES!

  • Dragon Quest 3 at 5:54? It wasn't even out in america yet!

  • @JuicyPlayer i don't think it was an international release.

  • YA DEADLY DUCKS 3:25

  • thumbs up if you think the whole "video games make the kids violent" is just pure BS invented by the haters

  • @0639243 Speaking completely seriously here; it has been supported multiple times through various studies that violent video games, along with violent television (most television, actually), anger-heavy music and various other related media, do provoke a psychological reaction in people that increases aggressiveness. The widely-used catharsis defense (that I myself used to fall back on), is pretty much bogus. Of course parents of aggressive children can be blamed, but it doesn't change the fact.

  • @Vulcapyro thanks for the reply, I do recognize that there has been proven to some extent that violent videogames do incite kids to be violent, but what I criticize (which I didn't say clearly at all in my post) is the haters that pin all of the blame on videogames, that are just too blind to notice that there are a lot of factors that induce kids to behave violently, in my opinion it's completely wrong to pin all of the blame in just one factor, when there are many factors involved

  • @0639243 The whole "video game are destroying are children's morals" theory is what lead to people like Senator Joseph Lieberman and other politicians calling for censorship in games like Night Trap and Mortal Kombat in 1992. It all eventually lead to the forming of the ESRB ratings of today which was a big change for the video game industry in 1994. Some say that Joseph Lieberman's anti video gaming agenda is one of the strong factors for Al Gore losing the Presidential election of 2000.

  • I don't agree with these games making people violent but some of the games these days are extremely violent

  • you hardly do this if your a grown up, you have work to do hahha

  • Yeah, a fat person jumping on turtles is soooo bad for kids...

  • 5:51 "Like I said, jump on the guy with the carpet..." LOL, Super Mario Bros 2 is new, I'm sure he has to answer this one like every day.

  • violent? they should see games now, if your not killing zombies your killing your friends.

  • @Toxicdude12 No 22 FOOL!

  • LOL @ 2:02

    OWNED

  • "Watching Nintenda" 0:05 Journalism Fail LOL

  • I like how they make 1 or 2 hours sound like a lot. They should see today's addicts who play for about 12 hours!

  • If they thought jumping on turtles and throwing boomerangs was violent, imagine what people of that time would have thought about today's games!

  • John from 20/20 was AWESOME!

  • @valdus ha ha when i heard that i was like ... WTF?!

  • What a time to be alive.

  • 16 years and I'm not braindead...

  • I remember in 1989 when there was a rash of kids attacking people with boomerangs and bombs and people didn't think the debate over video game violence was so funny then, let me tell you. ;-)

  • @gusbaker4u LMAO

  • I'm surprised they act like these "video games" are brand new. Did they forget all about Atari?

  • @jrburke99 You have to understand that, back then, people wanted to forget about Atari following the 1983 Video Game Crash--that was caused when Atari allowed for the release of E.T. and Pac-Man for the 2600--and Nintendo had basically put video games back into the mainstream.

  • @jrburke99 - The Atari era was a phenomenon for awhile because there was nothing like it before. But then later Atari became adamant in going after intellectual properties ( i.e. E.T. or Raiders of The Lost Ark ) to make into video games; not realizing an important aspect to a successful video game is its gameplay. There was just too many poorly executed video games appearing onto store shelves and people began thinking video games was a fad.

Nintendo came onto the scene .... cont.

  • with sophisticated technology capable of detailed graphics to convey an intriguing storyline, original gameplay levels, and sound. It was definitely a rediscovery which paved the way to today's video game industry. Much of Nintendo's fundamentals are still practiced today by them and their competitors like: the control D-pad, battery saves, and in-game passwords.

  • Thanks for posting. This is very interesting. I was 10 when this report was done. I was the target demographic for Nintendo at the time.

  • Thanks so much for uploading this!

  • Great upload. Thanks!

  • Lol these games will make kids violent the argument never changes. That was pretty cool though the question i have is what is that game in the middle of the video with the knight. (not zelda) its at 4:17

  • @mattimeo31 I think thats Wizards and Warriors.

  • @shertz43 thanks

  • @shertz43 Wizards and Warriors 2: Iron Sword to be exact

  • @mattimeo31 The second Wizards and Warriors game.

  • Wow! I enjoyed it alot! Thanks!
