@kdyer1968 Thanks, I'm trying to cut out the game buying running up to Christmas but I've found that that's all but impossible, especially when I think I might miss out on something. I'll be more than happy to keep you posted, some people have said that Dark Souls is not quite the beast it's made out to be, it's time I put my skills (or lack of) to the test.
@WeplaygamesUK Cheers mate, it's not an up to date reference but it does the job. I don't have a shotgun handy though so I might have a rethink, I don't think my Wii Overshot Gun will cut the mustard if someone comes after my games.
@StarsAreDead1009 Well, you know, there was important stuff that needed to be said about moustaches and burglary potential, and no one else will listen! And there was more stuff that I wanted to talk about as well, but my brain subconsciously edited it out. Either way, cheers Blood! These three games'll keep me going for a while, especially Dark Souls.
Nice pickups Owen, Broken Sword is awesome, £5.55 was a good deal. WhiIe I was in london, I couldn't find any good deals....I should've travelled to your part of town - you seem yo get all the good deals:)
@1msx2go Cheers Richard. Yeah, I'm looking forward to playing Broken Sword how it should be played if I can get my mouse working. The game seems to vary in price, I thought I had a real bargain but the next one that sold went for about half of what I paid.
London's not too good for game hunting, all of the good places are either too spread out or have shut down, they don't really have Gamestations in central London either. I usually have to plan a route if I'm ever going out on the mooch.
@amurphy245 I can imagine it feels a lot different with a touch screen, you'd be able to get everything done a lot more quickly. Playing with a joypad just feels wrong for point n'clicks, it's too bloody slow!
Yeah, I really enjoyed what I played of the game when I had it the first time, I used to have a demo of the second game as well and played that one puzzle over and over, and over.
I used to play an online FPS by the name of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. It was built as an expansion pack to Return to Castle Wolfenstein but when the money ran out they released it for free as an online only game. A team based FPS (Allies vs Axis) with several classes and the class you chose required you to do different things on each level. i.e engineers were in charge of building defenses/destroying objectives. I played that game with a clan for years, no FPS has ever come close in my eyes.
@0nlydlb That sounds about spot on. I'd like the extra realism of things like realistic damage and no respawning, character classes and maybe some sort of command structure, but it'd have to be pretty casual as well, if it started getting too serious it'd definitely take the edge off of the enjoyment. Casual but just competitive enough to make it worth it, without all of the angry abusive idiots who piss everyone off.
Enemy territory (ET) was a multiplayer only game-completely free, still available today (257mb), built on teamwork. If you were allies you attacked (while axis mostly) defended the map. If you were an engineer you'd lay landmines to defend, plant dynamite to destroy... Total utilitarian. Field ops - Signals, in charge of calling in air strikes, nothing better than pwning a spawn with a well timed air strike. Coverts, disguise by stealing clothes.........
Anyway, enough of my love for ET. You'll never find anything worthwhile in CoD or Battlefield... Those games are built for the masses. I sat back and watched as the whole console FPS furore started up and killed my fabled game in the process... I still declare that mouse+keyboard is the best config for an FPS. I am still left in amazement at how popular the console FPS are.... The joypad config has been optimised, with the trigger attack, but analog will never match mouse.
@0nlydlb That sounds great, I may well give it a go one day. I've never tried the mouse/keyboard control set up for an FPS but I know that people swear by it. The only thing that might put me off is that the mouse would give you maybe too much precision, but at the same time I do find joypad control unwieldy and slow sometimes. If anything I've thought that a light gun/wiimote set up would be the optimum scheme, it's just a shame you'd have to use the Wii and it'd essentially be a light gun game
i saw raiden iii on the stocklist @ wood green, was thinking of getting but not sure i have £20 for it.
hope you enjoy dark souls, its' frustration is definitely rewarding eventually. more accessible than i thought it would be, and im a pretty poor gamer by all accounts, though getting the _ sword early on did help immensely...
never did complete it, as i didn't have enough time to put into it. ironic now since i'm currently engrossed in skyrim, and that's even more of a life-consumer!
@TheFatalHybrid That's about the money, or maybe slightly under, so you'll always get your money back on ebay if you don't think it's up to much. The copy they have is about as mint as it gets as well. It doesn't try anything new but it's enjoyable all the same, it feels intuitive and you can build up a good rhythm when you're playing.
It's good to hear that Dark Souls isn't necessarily the ball breaker that it's made out to be, that gives me hope, and my skillz aren't up to much either...
I use to love Broken sword, I kind of have a soft spot for point and clickers, remember Syberia? They are hard going though, could never get my head round Myst. Keep up the impressions by the way, they make me chuckle. Enjoyable video :-)
@kazxena Yeah, I find them a nice change of pace when I've had enough of the death dealing that usually goes on in games. I can just sit back and take my time, unless they're on a timer like some I've seen, Dark Seed looks a bit of a head ache. I think being stuck comes with the territory, I usually just pick everything up and hope it goes somewhere. I've actually been looking for Syberia on the Xbox, it's a slippery little bugger!
I can't call them impressions but thanks for humouring me! ha ha
@ninjabearhug Cheers mate. I was thinking that I might end up having to pay for it myself if my sister comes through with my birthday present after 7 months, but in reality there's no danger in that happening. I can't see her coughing up for something she didn't chose either so I might well end up buying my own birthday present like yourself. In the end it was just an excuse to buy a game I can't afford.
@SeanSidious Sorry mate, it's just that I get addicted to doing impressions and I'll really milk it and piss people off, it'll only be one at any time though, doesn't matter if they're any good either. Jimmy Saville, Michael Caine, Nelson Mandela, Captain Price is the current one.... 'Soap!' I really want a hat as well.
@XFile2708 Cheers Squire. Sorry, I forgot to say, I paid £5 for Gigawing which is a bit of a steal. CEX will probably put that up eventually when they cotton on that they're letting it go too cheaply, Raiden III used to be £8 but now it goes for £20!
@XFile2708 It's a bit of a freak occurrence to see Gigawing anywhere in the wild so you have to make sure you jump on it when you do, it's pretty unusual to see a PAL copy even on ebay. The Camden branch of CEX in particular, seems to have a side line in scarce shooters, somebody living nearby must be an aficionado.
I thought about the no-respawn type of gameplay years ago... I don't believe it would work out all too well in the end sadly. It was a sound idea in my head thou...
@RetroBites83 Yeah, I like the idea in theory but in reality it would probably be at the expense of any fun. People would have to play an FPS differently though which is what I'm aiming for, it would promote teamwork rather than players trying to be the Gung-Ho Lone Ranger, and tactics would be more considered. And having to sit out the rest of a day long game would be penance for throwing your life away so needlessly......
lol, i have been tempted 2 get dark souls and even demon souls but ive heard its diff is just crazy, i did finish ninja gaiden but that playthrough nearly killed me! whats the hardest game you've played?
@bedtime143 I'd say go for it, the difficulty is part of the game, it would prefer to grind you into dust rather than hold your hand. The stunning game world is supposed to make the grind worthwhile as well.
I'm not sure about the hardest game I've played, I usually get pissed off and give up after a while. Operation C on the Gameboy always gave me trouble, and Super Empire Strikes Back is a total bitch. X-Com Terror from the Deep just takes the piss out of you. And Ninja Gaiden. Yourself?
@LeBossu77 i played mega man 9 and found that almost impossible, also prince of persia two thrones end boss was a bitch and the sephiroth fight at the end of 7 took me like an hour and a half
@bedtime143 Yep, I hear you on Sephiroth, I had no notion of level grinding the first time I played FFVII and I was totally under powered by the time I got to the end. I remember that I could just scrape past the first version but the second version would just swat me away. So I gave up. Since then I make doubly sure that I'm experienced enough to complete a game.
Good pickups mate with some good stories. Shame about the mouse. That person must have been mad to trade them shooters in. Gigawing is about the only shooter I don't have for the PS2, very rare to find. Really didn't like the two on the Dreamcast so I doubt the PS2 would do any better. Broken Sword series are great adventures.
@ash81b4u Cheers mate. I've had a look at the mouse to see if I can get it working after all these years, it doesn't look as bad as I remember it but there's no telling what wine does to the internals.
Yeah, whoever it was must've been given peanuts in credit for all those games, there was Homura as well, just about every scarce PS2 shooter going. Gigawing is certainly an acquired taste, the screen fills up very quickly and it's easy to get lost, I like the manic unhinged feel though.
@MrBacchus18 It was a properly shit party though, I had to drink my way through it and I ended up losing a good few hours. I've been told that I lost it a bit but I don't believe a word of it, and I didn't have a hang over in the morning! That might've been because I was 'a bit ill' for a while though. The only victim was my PS1 mouse....
i watched some gameplay of dark souls and i may have to get it too, if i do the next thing will be getting a live gold account which i'm not sure i want to get for one game. either way it'll have to wait but in th emeantime maybe you can do a gameplay vid to show us how crazy it is.
@roleplayerthegamer Yeah, no worries dude, I'm all up for doing a gameplay video, it'll mean putting my credibility (or lack of) on the line though, and if you don't mind 15mins worth of swearing and controller abuse I'll be happy to oblige. The online game sounds like it'll be open to abuse though, as you were saying, but playing through the game with people who won't take the piss will be rewarding. I'll have to stick to the offline game for now though.
No worries about the heads up mate, gald your made up with the purchase, hard game to find, and a good price to match. Broken swords one on my wanted list,i used to play the demo to death. If some asian kid can complete dark souls in under 2 hours, surely you can! haha. Ive heard its brutual and difficult, but a great game never the less. Definitely a christmas purchase. Also sent the paypal money, check it :) ha
@ItzxDanx Cheers Dan. Like I said mate, you game's on it's way, I'll have a bit of practice and post a decent score just to give you something to aspire to! ha ha Seriously now, I've never got passed the first level without losing a life on Homura, I've discovered that you beat the game inside a certain amount of credits to unlock the final level. I'm nowhere near.
There's a kid who's beat Dark Souls inside 2 hours? Blimey, that's pretty special, but I think the game's more about the slog.
One day i'd like to have a firearms license and get a shotgun, in this ecoomy there's been a surge of these shady characters.....i'm sure that buckshot will be the very last thing they see on this earth
=)
i love Broken Sword, bro, and point-click games in general, it's a dying breed unfortunately
@izaurralde It might (was!) just have been me being paranoid but these two regular characters that I've seen do seem particularly shady, they're never totally relaxed either which suggests they're up to no good. I'm extra protective over my games so I put 2 and 2 together and came up with 1241425678. I just wanted to do a scumbag information broadcast just in case there was somebody planning something under handed.
Yeah, point n clicks are great, always a welcome change of pace.
I dunno if you play PC at all, but a good game to check out if you want a multiplayer fps would be Nuclear Dawn, you sort of have super human strength (kind of even though you die really fast) and their are respawns, but it's a mix of FPS and RTS, where one player in teh commander, and depending on how good he or she is it can deterrmine the outcome of the game,
@roryos I've played some things on PC like Championship Manager or X-Com on steam but my computer's a bit of a dinosaur to handle anything major. Nuclear Dawn sounds really interesting though, I can imagine that being a lot of fun, the command structure sounds like it would add a lot more realism. FPS multiplayer just seems too random, with a lot of it coming down to 'who sees who first' or 'who's quickest on the draw'.
@bluetonic78 I've heard that Dark Souls is a whole notch tougher than Demon Souls on the PS3, and I know that that's gotten the better of plenty people who've taken the plunge. I get the impression that dieing and the difficulty are the essence of the game though, it does say 'Prepare to Die' in big mean letters on the back of the box after all.
You might want to investigate BF3. It's essentially a FPS but you can form or join a squad and play as realistically as you want rather than do the 'headless chicken' thing.
In theory your idea of a 2 day game without respawning is great and one i've mulled over in the past but it wouldn't work - I mean let's say your playable character got bumped off 5 minutes into the 2 day game....what do you do? Sit and watch until the game finishes? I can see your tune soon changing if that was the case!
@bluetonic78 Yeah, I think I need to sample everything on offer, I've still to give Medal of Honour and any of the BF titles a shot. I'm naturally a cautious player anyway, and it doesn't matter if it's an FPS or an RPG.
I've considered the downside of dieing in the early days of a marathon game and I'd be totally okay with that, the wait is a penance for throwing your life away so needlessly. People would have to play differently, I couldn't guarantee that it'd be instantly enjoyable though.
Another classic opening haha, never fail to make me laugh. Mezmorizing mo' sounds quite good haha, I'm liking the captain price idea :P Don't let those bandits steal yer gaming gold.
I remember broken sword on the pc back in the day, cracking series. I've seen quite a lot of folk on here picking up dark souls and yeah I've heard to it's a bloody, horrificly, nightmarishly difficult haha. I think i'll pick the normal edition up when its cheaper and let myself rage!
@iCrytex Cheers dude, I'm glad you liked it. The problem with the Mo is that I don't recognise myself with it, I suppose I should stop looking in mirrors! The bandits can try and take away my gold but I won't let it go without a fight. I'm guessing it depends on what they take, they can have my pile of sports titles any day.
Both Broken Sword games are great on the PS1, I've only played the 2nd game on a demo tho. Dark Souls is all about pissing you off, it says 'Prepare to Die' on the back!
@shenmueso No problem mate, I'm planning on giving it a good crack this week. I've heard that it's a notch more difficult than Demon Souls which has got the better of a few people, I think bloodymindedness and perseverance are the way to go though.
I think they introduced an easy difficulty setting when they rereleased Ninja Gaiden as Ninja Gaiden Black, I can remember taking a while to beat the first boss and just ended up running in circles.
@bedtime143 I couldn't think of any of his catchphrases, I should've just shouted 'Soap!'. I'll work on it for next time, something to look forward to! A guard dog sounds just the ticket for protecting my PS2 games, I'd like to see the fuckers get past a Doberman. For now I'll have to make do with my own skillz, and my 3 cats.
Great video mate! btw, how is Zavvi's service? Been tempted by them for some time now, but never really came across a proper user, so are they pretty good with shipping etc?
@DarkSphinxx Cheers, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Zavvi aren't too bad although I've not used them for a long time. I ordered Dark Souls on the 16th so it only took 5 days to get here, it's pretty good considering the weekend post. They took a while to process my order though, they took about a day to confirm that it'd been posted. They're not as fast as Shopto.net and probably not quite as reliable as Amazon but worth a punt all the same. I've heard their stock info can be a bit unreliable though.
That should have said 'I'm not that into it'... sigh.
Mo is looking good. I've decided to grow some mutton chops. They mitigate the 80's tash factor a bit and make me look a bit more like some shady character from a Sherlock Holmes story.
@Bantam80 No worries mate, you made perfect sense! ha ha
Have you thought about linking the tash and the mutton chops for a sort of Lemmy effect, or is that what you already had in mind? Either way it sounds impressive.
@LeBossu77 The Lemmy look is spot on (minus huge mole) bur I feel like mentioning him in the same breath would of be sacrilege. Haha
I do enjoy the Battlefields and Modern Warfares, but sometimes I do feel like I'm being stuffed into a meat grinder. If there are no penalties for death, there's no sense of jeopardy or risk. It would be nice to have a few more games like Demons' Souls and Dark Souls that do that. Without the possibility of epic failure, you'll never have those epic highs either.
@Bantam80 I think you've got it spot on there, no penalties means there's no risk, you die, you wait to respawn and then you start it all again. The competition becomes more about statistics rather than survival, who's at the top of the leader board at the end of a game. I think no respawning would promote teamwork as well rather than the Lone Ranger approach, and sitting out the rest of a day long game would be good motivation to survive.
There are some FPS games that have an immense level of detail but they tend to be confined to the PC. Arma 2 is a good example... you'll bleed out if you get shot once and a medic doesn't dress your wounds (instant death if it was a headshot) and balistics are modelled very accurately i.e. bullets are affected by windspeed and direction. Online, people take it incredibly seriously and enforce command structures for instance. I'm *that* into it, although that 'hardcore' ethos is appealing.
@Bantam80 That sounds spot on but I can imagine it's pretty hardcore, it doesn't sound like it would sit well with a console user base. One of my main gripes with online FPSs is that games like MW3 trade on their (albeit 'arcade') realism but that only goes so far. I just imagine that if you removed elements such as respawning it would change the whole atmosphere of a game, players would have to change the way they play unless they wanted their game to last a few minutes. I wouldn't want that to
@Bantam80 ... be at the expense of enjoyment though, and you'd almost be forced to take a game like that seriously so maybe I should have a rethink...
lol Tony Martin, I hope it doesn't come to that Owen :) When you said the game from Zavvi was a tough one 1st thing I thought of was Dark Souls, damn I'm good lol.
@Snestastic It was uncanny mate, I see these 2 characters outside at about 2am one day, didn't think too much of it, and then a couple of days later a police car appears outside my neighbours house! And then we get a letter! I was thinking of putting a video out, warning any potential interlopers, I don't know how I'd react if somebody touched my PS2! I'd probably run away.....
No flies on you! Or am I that predictable? It was a no brainer for me, the challenge really appeals to me... in theory.
@LeBossu77 lol well just make sure all your gaming stuff is well hidden dude, always makes me wonder how intrested a burglar would be in our games if they robbed us lol. Nah not predictable i'm just shit hot at the guessing game lol :)
@Snestastic That's why I don't keep too much stuff in the back ground of my videos, I don't want it to be a shop window for any ne'er do wells. That would all change if I could get off my arse and put some curtains up of course! I have heard of burglars taking games, my mate had his whole CD collection nicked when he was at Uni. We were burgled quite a few years ago and all they got away with was a few bits of jewellery and a kitchen knife, they didn't seem too bothered with all my crap.
@LeBossu77 That's probably a good idea dude, you do live in London after all lol :) Bet your mate was proper pissed off, some people have no respect for others, bastards :)
@Snestastic He was in Newcastle at the time so it was the Geordies! ha ha I think he was frustrated more than anything, I've got a feeling he was insured so it wasn't too bad, and it gave him an excuse to go out and buy a shed load of music.
@carbootgamerUK You're not alone mate, mine's always been ginger. Welcome to the fold, you are one of the chosen few! You can always dye it, try asking for moustache dye at ASDA and see what happens. If you get laughed at I'll know to steer clear myself.
There was sad music yes, it was an emotional time, it's not been that same since that day. I look back and think what might've been.
Demon Souls is too hard? Shit, I've heard Dark Souls ramps up the difficulty even more....
@carbootgamerUK Shit, that sounds like it's coming from experience. Maybe you're looking at it all wrong, change the surface rather than the object, I'm thinking spray tan? If you're orange as well then the orange mo won't stand out as much.
@indydaisy1 Cheers mate, it's coming along... slowly. It's a bitch to maintain though, I'm normally too lazy to shave more that once a week, this thing needs regular upkeep! Moustache baby-bio sounds spot on, someone should invent some.
Good pickups....
Nice birthday gift...Keep me posted on your progress on Dark Souls!!!

I thought about the no-respawn type of gameplay years ago... I don't believe it would work out all too well in the end sadly. It was a sound idea in my head thou...
RetroBites83 3 months ago
@RetroBites83 Yeah, I like the idea in theory but in reality it would probably be at the expense of any fun. People would have to play an FPS differently though which is what I'm aiming for, it would promote teamwork rather than players trying to be the Gung-Ho Lone Ranger, and tactics would be more considered. And having to sit out the rest of a day long game would be penance for throwing your life away so needlessly......
LeBossu77 3 months ago
lol, i have been tempted 2 get dark souls and even demon souls but ive heard its diff is just crazy, i did finish ninja gaiden but that playthrough nearly killed me! whats the hardest game you've played?
bedtime143 3 months ago
@bedtime143 I'd say go for it, the difficulty is part of the game, it would prefer to grind you into dust rather than hold your hand. The stunning game world is supposed to make the grind worthwhile as well.
I'm not sure about the hardest game I've played, I usually get pissed off and give up after a while. Operation C on the Gameboy always gave me trouble, and Super Empire Strikes Back is a total bitch. X-Com Terror from the Deep just takes the piss out of you. And Ninja Gaiden. Yourself?
LeBossu77 3 months ago
@LeBossu77 i played mega man 9 and found that almost impossible, also prince of persia two thrones end boss was a bitch and the sephiroth fight at the end of 7 took me like an hour and a half
bedtime143 3 months ago
@bedtime143 Yep, I hear you on Sephiroth, I had no notion of level grinding the first time I played FFVII and I was totally under powered by the time I got to the end. I remember that I could just scrape past the first version but the second version would just swat me away. So I gave up. Since then I make doubly sure that I'm experienced enough to complete a game.
LeBossu77 3 months ago
Good pickups mate with some good stories. Shame about the mouse. That person must have been mad to trade them shooters in. Gigawing is about the only shooter I don't have for the PS2, very rare to find. Really didn't like the two on the Dreamcast so I doubt the PS2 would do any better. Broken Sword series are great adventures.
ash81b4u 3 months ago
@ash81b4u Cheers mate. I've had a look at the mouse to see if I can get it working after all these years, it doesn't look as bad as I remember it but there's no telling what wine does to the internals.
Yeah, whoever it was must've been given peanuts in credit for all those games, there was Homura as well, just about every scarce PS2 shooter going. Gigawing is certainly an acquired taste, the screen fills up very quickly and it's easy to get lost, I like the manic unhinged feel though.

Had a couple of beginning of term parties like that, luckily my stuff got through ok.
MrBacchus18 3 months ago
@MrBacchus18 It was a properly shit party though, I had to drink my way through it and I ended up losing a good few hours. I've been told that I lost it a bit but I don't believe a word of it, and I didn't have a hang over in the morning! That might've been because I was 'a bit ill' for a while though. The only victim was my PS1 mouse....

i watched some gameplay of dark souls and i may have to get it too, if i do the next thing will be getting a live gold account which i'm not sure i want to get for one game. either way it'll have to wait but in th emeantime maybe you can do a gameplay vid to show us how crazy it is.
roleplayerthegamer 3 months ago
@roleplayerthegamer Yeah, no worries dude, I'm all up for doing a gameplay video, it'll mean putting my credibility (or lack of) on the line though, and if you don't mind 15mins worth of swearing and controller abuse I'll be happy to oblige. The online game sounds like it'll be open to abuse though, as you were saying, but playing through the game with people who won't take the piss will be rewarding. I'll have to stick to the offline game for now though.
LeBossu77 3 months ago
No worries about the heads up mate, gald your made up with the purchase, hard game to find, and a good price to match. Broken swords one on my wanted list,i used to play the demo to death. If some asian kid can complete dark souls in under 2 hours, surely you can! haha. Ive heard its brutual and difficult, but a great game never the less. Definitely a christmas purchase. Also sent the paypal money, check it :) ha
ItzxDanx 3 months ago

={
izaurralde 3 months ago
@izaurralde It might (was!) just have been me being paranoid but these two regular characters that I've seen do seem particularly shady, they're never totally relaxed either which suggests they're up to no good. I'm extra protective over my games so I put 2 and 2 together and came up with 1241425678. I just wanted to do a scumbag information broadcast just in case there was somebody planning something under handed.
Yeah, point n clicks are great, always a welcome change of pace.
LeBossu77 3 months ago
I dunno if you play PC at all, but a good game to check out if you want a multiplayer fps would be Nuclear Dawn, you sort of have super human strength (kind of even though you die really fast) and their are respawns, but it's a mix of FPS and RTS, where one player in teh commander, and depending on how good he or she is it can deterrmine the outcome of the game,
roryos 3 months ago
@roryos I've played some things on PC like Championship Manager or X-Com on steam but my computer's a bit of a dinosaur to handle anything major. Nuclear Dawn sounds really interesting though, I can imagine that being a lot of fun, the command structure sounds like it would add a lot more realism. FPS multiplayer just seems too random, with a lot of it coming down to 'who sees who first' or 'who's quickest on the draw'.
LeBossu77 3 months ago
As for Dark Souls, it's certainly appealing but yeah, tough as nails by all accounts. One of the many current-gen games that is on my list for sure.
bluetonic78 3 months ago
@bluetonic78 I've heard that Dark Souls is a whole notch tougher than Demon Souls on the PS3, and I know that that's gotten the better of plenty people who've taken the plunge. I get the impression that dieing and the difficulty are the essence of the game though, it does say 'Prepare to Die' in big mean letters on the back of the box after all.
LeBossu77 3 months ago
You might want to investigate BF3. It's essentially a FPS but you can form or join a squad and play as realistically as you want rather than do the 'headless chicken' thing.
In theory your idea of a 2 day game without respawning is great and one i've mulled over in the past but it wouldn't work - I mean let's say your playable character got bumped off 5 minutes into the 2 day game....what do you do? Sit and watch until the game finishes? I can see your tune soon changing if that was the case!
bluetonic78 3 months ago
@bluetonic78 Yeah, I think I need to sample everything on offer, I've still to give Medal of Honour and any of the BF titles a shot. I'm naturally a cautious player anyway, and it doesn't matter if it's an FPS or an RPG.
I've considered the downside of dieing in the early days of a marathon game and I'd be totally okay with that, the wait is a penance for throwing your life away so needlessly. People would have to play differently, I couldn't guarantee that it'd be instantly enjoyable though.
LeBossu77 3 months ago
Another classic opening haha, never fail to make me laugh. Mezmorizing mo' sounds quite good haha, I'm liking the captain price idea :P Don't let those bandits steal yer gaming gold.
I remember broken sword on the pc back in the day, cracking series. I've seen quite a lot of folk on here picking up dark souls and yeah I've heard to it's a bloody, horrificly, nightmarishly difficult haha. I think i'll pick the normal edition up when its cheaper and let myself rage!
iCrytex 3 months ago
@iCrytex Cheers dude, I'm glad you liked it. The problem with the Mo is that I don't recognise myself with it, I suppose I should stop looking in mirrors! The bandits can try and take away my gold but I won't let it go without a fight. I'm guessing it depends on what they take, they can have my pile of sports titles any day.
Both Broken Sword games are great on the PS1, I've only played the 2nd game on a demo tho. Dark Souls is all about pissing you off, it says 'Prepare to Die' on the back!
LeBossu77 3 months ago
Make sure to do a review of dark souls. I'm tempted to get that. Just picked up ninja gaiden today as well actually. Hope there's an easy setting lol
shenmueso 3 months ago
@shenmueso No problem mate, I'm planning on giving it a good crack this week. I've heard that it's a notch more difficult than Demon Souls which has got the better of a few people, I think bloodymindedness and perseverance are the way to go though.
I think they introduced an easy difficulty setting when they rereleased Ninja Gaiden as Ninja Gaiden Black, I can remember taking a while to beat the first boss and just ended up running in circles.
LeBossu77 3 months ago
lol great captain price impression!, also try to get a huge guard dog to keep those shady people away!
bedtime143 3 months ago
@bedtime143 I couldn't think of any of his catchphrases, I should've just shouted 'Soap!'. I'll work on it for next time, something to look forward to! A guard dog sounds just the ticket for protecting my PS2 games, I'd like to see the fuckers get past a Doberman. For now I'll have to make do with my own skillz, and my 3 cats.

Great video mate! btw, how is Zavvi's service? Been tempted by them for some time now, but never really came across a proper user, so are they pretty good with shipping etc?
DarkSphinxx 3 months ago
@DarkSphinxx Cheers, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Zavvi aren't too bad although I've not used them for a long time. I ordered Dark Souls on the 16th so it only took 5 days to get here, it's pretty good considering the weekend post. They took a while to process my order though, they took about a day to confirm that it'd been posted. They're not as fast as Shopto.net and probably not quite as reliable as Amazon but worth a punt all the same. I've heard their stock info can be a bit unreliable though.
LeBossu77 3 months ago
That should have said 'I'm not that into it'... sigh.
Mo is looking good. I've decided to grow some mutton chops. They mitigate the 80's tash factor a bit and make me look a bit more like some shady character from a Sherlock Holmes story.
Bantam80 3 months ago
@Bantam80 No worries mate, you made perfect sense! ha ha
Have you thought about linking the tash and the mutton chops for a sort of Lemmy effect, or is that what you already had in mind? Either way it sounds impressive.
LeBossu77 3 months ago
@LeBossu77 The Lemmy look is spot on (minus huge mole) bur I feel like mentioning him in the same breath would of be sacrilege. Haha
I do enjoy the Battlefields and Modern Warfares, but sometimes I do feel like I'm being stuffed into a meat grinder. If there are no penalties for death, there's no sense of jeopardy or risk. It would be nice to have a few more games like Demons' Souls and Dark Souls that do that. Without the possibility of epic failure, you'll never have those epic highs either.
Bantam80 3 months ago
@Bantam80 I think you've got it spot on there, no penalties means there's no risk, you die, you wait to respawn and then you start it all again. The competition becomes more about statistics rather than survival, who's at the top of the leader board at the end of a game. I think no respawning would promote teamwork as well rather than the Lone Ranger approach, and sitting out the rest of a day long game would be good motivation to survive.
LeBossu77 3 months ago
There are some FPS games that have an immense level of detail but they tend to be confined to the PC. Arma 2 is a good example... you'll bleed out if you get shot once and a medic doesn't dress your wounds (instant death if it was a headshot) and balistics are modelled very accurately i.e. bullets are affected by windspeed and direction. Online, people take it incredibly seriously and enforce command structures for instance. I'm *that* into it, although that 'hardcore' ethos is appealing.
Bantam80 3 months ago
@Bantam80 That sounds spot on but I can imagine it's pretty hardcore, it doesn't sound like it would sit well with a console user base. One of my main gripes with online FPSs is that games like MW3 trade on their (albeit 'arcade') realism but that only goes so far. I just imagine that if you removed elements such as respawning it would change the whole atmosphere of a game, players would have to change the way they play unless they wanted their game to last a few minutes. I wouldn't want that to
LeBossu77 3 months ago
@Bantam80 ... be at the expense of enjoyment though, and you'd almost be forced to take a game like that seriously so maybe I should have a rethink...
LeBossu77 3 months ago
lol Tony Martin, I hope it doesn't come to that Owen :) When you said the game from Zavvi was a tough one 1st thing I thought of was Dark Souls, damn I'm good lol.
Snestastic 3 months ago
@Snestastic It was uncanny mate, I see these 2 characters outside at about 2am one day, didn't think too much of it, and then a couple of days later a police car appears outside my neighbours house! And then we get a letter! I was thinking of putting a video out, warning any potential interlopers, I don't know how I'd react if somebody touched my PS2! I'd probably run away.....
No flies on you! Or am I that predictable? It was a no brainer for me, the challenge really appeals to me... in theory.
LeBossu77 3 months ago
@LeBossu77 lol well just make sure all your gaming stuff is well hidden dude, always makes me wonder how intrested a burglar would be in our games if they robbed us lol. Nah not predictable i'm just shit hot at the guessing game lol :)
Snestastic 3 months ago
@Snestastic That's why I don't keep too much stuff in the back ground of my videos, I don't want it to be a shop window for any ne'er do wells. That would all change if I could get off my arse and put some curtains up of course! I have heard of burglars taking games, my mate had his whole CD collection nicked when he was at Uni. We were burgled quite a few years ago and all they got away with was a few bits of jewellery and a kitchen knife, they didn't seem too bothered with all my crap.
LeBossu77 3 months ago
@LeBossu77 That's probably a good idea dude, you do live in London after all lol :) Bet your mate was proper pissed off, some people have no respect for others, bastards :)
Snestastic 3 months ago
@Snestastic He was in Newcastle at the time so it was the Geordies! ha ha I think he was frustrated more than anything, I've got a feeling he was insured so it wasn't too bad, and it gave him an excuse to go out and buy a shed load of music.

@LeBossu77 lol those damn northerners :) Swings & Roundabouts then dude :)

Moving story about the Mouse , where was the sad music?
Dark souls looks good but I have yet to finish demon souls because its just so hard :(
carbootgamerUK 3 months ago
@carbootgamerUK You're not alone mate, mine's always been ginger. Welcome to the fold, you are one of the chosen few! You can always dye it, try asking for moustache dye at ASDA and see what happens. If you get laughed at I'll know to steer clear myself.
There was sad music yes, it was an emotional time, it's not been that same since that day. I look back and think what might've been.
Demon Souls is too hard? Shit, I've heard Dark Souls ramps up the difficulty even more....
LeBossu77 3 months ago
@LeBossu77 Try putting mascarar on your tash , it doesn't look good. Ends up being darker than your own hair and stands out like boner in a speedo.
carbootgamerUK 3 months ago
@carbootgamerUK Shit, that sounds like it's coming from experience. Maybe you're looking at it all wrong, change the surface rather than the object, I'm thinking spray tan? If you're orange as well then the orange mo won't stand out as much.

The tash is looking fine fella just feed that beast some baby-bio and let it flow man. Groovy
indydaisy1 3 months ago
@indydaisy1 Cheers mate, it's coming along... slowly. It's a bitch to maintain though, I'm normally too lazy to shave more that once a week, this thing needs regular upkeep! Moustache baby-bio sounds spot on, someone should invent some.
