  • He is good at forms BUT the amount of power he uses when punching and kicking the air must be jarring on his joints.

No wonder he left TKD to form CKD with its more joint friendly techniques.

  • Este tul comienza abriendo para el

    lado izquierdo.

  • Sin entrar en el mérito de otras cuestiones una cosa es clara:

YUL GOK comienza para el lado izquierdo.

    Abrazo.

  • @3csimon who is your instructor? Do you or your instructor have any videos on here?

  • @3csimon so, enlighten me on a better video....

  • I think this is about the first good form I have seen on youtube!

  • @JHM406 it was horrible! he nearly fell over

  • I can dispell the myth. I have a black belt from Master Choi back when he was still with ITF. He was 7th Dan at the time and then became 8th Dan. I still practice ma's to this day.

  • you can see why he removed all the lock-outs for CKD...this looks painfull on the joints

  • @njones420 Yes, but it is also his own PERSONAL way of performing the moves.

Not every TKD exponent strikes the air with such a jarring motion.

Watch some other Masters perform the forms and you will see what I mean.

  • Got more videos?!

  • Pil Suhng!!!

  • Oh and he did get to 7th Dan. I remember seeing a picture of him and an old student in the states Glenn Kleinow (Ithink) when he was 7th Dan with a copy of Gen Choi's TKD book.

  • @amiller127 he didnt get a kukkiwon 7th dan. he got an itf dan grade.

  • He was not a Master yet. 7TH dan is when one becomes a Master in the ITF.

  • Well its an ITF Video and in it they call him Master Choi 6th Degree black belt. So go figure? Maybe they changed the rank of master to 7th dan after this as it was videoed a VERY long time ago.

  • Actually, both times he is referenced by name GM Choi is referred to as "Mister." This certainly doesn't take away from any of his accomplishments, and Robert Walson mentions specifically that he was an ITF 6th dan at the time.

  • @amiller127 6th dan was never a master in the itf(it is in wtf),they are calling him mister, not master if you listen carefully

  • @amiller127 In the ITF Yondan or $th dan is a master. At 7th Dan ur considered a Grand master.

  • This is 5th Gup (Green Belt with Blue Stripe) TKD Pattern.

  • Depending on your school.Yul Gok is purple belt at my school.

  • Yes, there are many variations in belt colors. However, most common schema in ITF is white-yellow-green-blue-red-black.

  • well it aint itf then is it.

  • Nope. We are not ITF.
