  • How were the bullets fed in the Model 1862 Gatling Gun? Also, how was the percussion cap replaced?

  • my right hand fell asleep gues what hapend next :3

  • Thumbs up if you laughed when he first said nipple. I lmfao.

  • this video is about som refilling of ammo or something, no with "how the gatling gun woks"... mistitled videos suck.

  • i have a couple shirts with nipple pockets

  • so why are you telling us??

  • I always wondered about what kind of ammunition they used being that almost all weapons of the period were cap-lock guns. Even the Colt .45 of the period was a cap-lock gun and multiple cylinders could be preloaded for more firing. This is an example of fixed ammunition in that the cap-lock cartridge can be loaded in the field, then reloaded similarly to the loading of a cylinder of a period revolver. Fixed ammunition did not come in to wide use until after 1868.

  • i don't think thats right, this is for muzel loader! this is defenetly not the gun most people think it is!! and how could it's maker tel it to us!!

  • nipple.

  • @airpug i loled

  • I Just wonder one thing always concerning gatlings and I try to explain...

If the barrel spins around as it does in gatlings, it fires a round at the same time. Now how can the round go exactly straight ahead like in a static barrel, I mean the barrel needs to give the projectile kind of a spin energy, which would force the round to go completely off track when in the air, but that actually doesn't happen, how can that be? In Fact the barrels are spinning at an enormous speed (3000+rpm)!!

  • When the round fires, the time it takes to travel down the barrel is milliseconds, not long enough for the barrel assembly to rotate appreciably, maybe a few degrees. Not enough centrifugal force is imparted to overcome the stabilizing force supplied by the rifling.

  • He said nipple =)

  • -_- how old are you RyuuHatake. Who cares if he said nipple.

  • I'm 16, but that doesn't mean I cant have a sense of humor.

  • As long as your gun is hand operated. Its not an automatic. Stick a crank on an AR rifle and it's still not considered an automatic by the ATF.

If it loads your "chamber" without manual interation(such as with a crank) with each shot. It is considered an automatic.

ATF posted it's it's website go have a look look at it.

  • nipple pocket!!? (blasting in laughter now CANT BREATH!)

  • this is almost exactly the way i make my homemade shotgun shells.

  • nipple?? lol wtf why nipple??

  • Nipple?!!!

  • +1!!!!!!

  • I thought ANY gun made, or, using a type of ammo prior to 1897 makes it an Antique and collectible. Including Gatlings and old Maxims. That's why my 1897 Winchester 1894, with a low serial number, was not subject to any restrictions, even though it took .30-30 ammo.

  • The loading sequence is wrong. Cap fired weapons are always loaded powder first; cap last. This is a serious safety issue.

  • No actually reloading any gun shell or cartridge is done cap first.

  • yawn

  • NIPPLE!!!!!

  • Al Gore?

  • LOL!

  • whats all this talk about nipples? :)

  • lmfao nipple! muahahahahahahahahahahha!

  • it's stephen hawking dumbass

  • they didnt grease the bullets at the time of the gatling gun because the dirt and sand got stuck to the grease and caused the gun to jam!!!

  • why is steven hawkings informing us of antique gun workings?

  • You don't post a video with "Gatling Gun" in the title and then not have a gatling gun firing in the video. That's a total youtube foul.

  • I updated the title to "How a Gatling Gun Works." Hopefully, this will provide a little more relavant information about the content.

  • Are the barrels on the model 1862 rifled or smooth bore?

  • @atguilmette :

Excellent video, demonstrating one aspect of the original Gatling mechanism.

If I recall correctly, these early Gatlings were built in 1in. and 1.5in. cal., and even a 3in. Naval gun, was at least, prototyped.

I assume yours was, or will be, built in .44 caliber?

  • mmm nipples

  • in english next time XD

  • boring
