@9608699 I do believe it is online, but you have to connect via IP address, it doesnt have a server menu or a server search. Rockstar has gta 1 and 2 for free download on their classics site, so its a pretty good LAN party game.

Alot of people say GTA2 was 2D. I can see how anyone can think that, but look at the buildings and things as you pass by, it's actually top-down 3D.

There was an issue while playing GTA 2 on multiplayer. Even a 10/100mbps connection wasn't able to sustain fluid gameplay if 3 or more players were in game. I guess the programmers didn't care much about the multiplayer, so they didn't optimize it enough..

That's 10 years ago or more talking. I don't know if they ever released a fix for the game. But i knew it was a waste of a great game, with multiplayer fun potential.

I don't know if Rockstar was holding the franchise back then either.

Exactly, Gamehunter or Hamachi. If not behind any weird fw, you may also try pure tcp/ip - might also work. Good luck - this game played with your friends is just the essence of awesomeness. Or at least very close to that.

but you'll have to go gtampDOTcom.

and click on gta 2 and download game hunter.

once u inside the program someone inside will help you out.
