  • well done! you come from the Netherlands? because it sounded really really good Dutch.

  • William of Nassau am I of German blood. it is Germanic.. not German..

  • @kcimmid : Hello Bram, thanks for your comment. I did some research and I found explaination which I think it is right ;-)

"Duitsen bloed: Duits is afgeleid van Diets, wat weer een afkorting is van Nederdiets. Het betekent Nederlands, en niet Duits."

  • @NationalAnthem100 yea thats true. Diets was the name of a small population in the region whats called netherlands. but if you search further down.. you will see that Diets and germanic are practically the same.

    BTW nice vid :)!

  • @NationalAnthem100

The Dutch may have there problem with it, but that's humbug. The difference between Dutch and German dates only from the 17th century, like the difference between German and Austrian from the 19th. Deutsch and Duits both derive from the germanic word "thioda", which means "people". In the 9th century, "teutisca lingua" meant the old germanic language of the Franconians (ithe west, they had adopted French) and those speaking it, were "thiotisk" etc.

  • @kcimmid

No doubt that Wilhelm von Nassau/Wilhelmus van Nassouwe, was of "German blood", being a descendant of an aristocratic family with its ancestral site in Nassau near Koblenz. Also the Netherlands still belonged (and did until 1648) to the German Empire, even though - things were complicated then - they actually were ruled by the Spanish crown, and Wilhelm was the royal gouvernor. When the Dutch rebelled against the Spanish rule, Wilhelm changed sides.

  • you're good :)

  • @mattie75 : thanks for posting this GREAT comment !

I have now 11 thumb ups on your message !

  • @mattie75

    It's first and sixth stanza.

    Second is:

In Godes vrees te leven heb ik altijd getracht

  • Hi Mattie,

1: The Dutch Anthem is the oldest anthem in the world with the music and the lyrics combined.

The music of the Japanese anthem is older, but the lyrics were written in the 19th or 20th century.

2: The dutch anthem is a so called "geuzenlied" A "patriot song". People revolted in those days against mighty Spain.

  • @mattie75 it´s not the second you moron it´s the sixth

  • @mimidoll13 Why you feel the need to call me a moron is a mystery to me... I am very aware of the fact the the 2nd stanza that he sang is in fact the 6th stanza of the complete set of lyrics. Being rude about it says more about you than me...

  • you can sing very well and you're dutch is great to, there were a couple of ''not that well'' pronounced words but it was very very understandable. 5/5 :D

  • You speak Dutch very clear and easy understandable, respect for that!

    Which country are you from?

  • You didn't make the most mistake any other guy would make. If I wouldn't know any beter I thought you where Dutch!

  • 日本人でしょ?

    西周もかくやという感じですが正直になりなさいw

    自分を捨ててもいいけど、自分を見失わないようにね

    では、オランダで 会ったらよろしくお願い致します

Anyway nicely done, keep it up :)

  • Great job man! Fantastic to see this from someone not from Holland, must have been very hard to learn

  • My shield and my trust ow God my lord..on you I wish to build, never leave me again, that I may remain pious, your servant always.Drive away the tyranny that wounds my heart.

  • This anthem is from the 16th century grats on pronouncement and song thanks a lot.

Loved it very good job :)

  • Where have you learnt to pronounce the Dutch lyrics so well? I could even derive you've used the very oldest pronunciation for the word 'orange', namely 'Oraengien'. Pretty nifty to hear it this way after a very long time...

  • sounds great, who did those thumbs down >=o

    <33

  • lol you speak better dutch than English, by the way Duitsen is indeed german in English but its actually old dutch for dutch XD

  • Really great !!!!!!

You comment on my vid along time ago... but never saw your version.. Nice that you gave the information at the beginning !!!!

    Gotta love holland :)

    Keep this stuff up !!!

  • You´re dutch is very good!!!

    THNX for singing our anthem!!!

  • great version , btw, you are the first that puts the correct translation "german blood" ( i am not german)

  • His Dutch is good, very good for a foreigner. He can even pronounce 'schild'.

  • @GulleGelderlander : Thanks so much for your nice comments! Yes, the word 'schild' is very differcult to pronounce. Glad to hear I didn't make lot mistakes. :-)

  • @GulleGelderlander Well, I'm Portuguese, and I think that the word "schild" isn't very difficult to pronounce. Maybe because the Portuguese language has more dificult sounds than the Dutch language, but I guess that for English or Spanish speakers, the Dutch language is a hard one. Yet, this guy has a great accent, based on my friends opinion.

  • @GulleGelderlander the CH in schild isn´t any harder to pronounce than any other G in Dutch.

  • goed joh! hoe kom je aan de noten?

  • @DMlovehorses : Thanks !! About the guitar style of this song..I made it for all the people who want to play guitar easily. I bit from myself and a bit from google, I think :-)

  • Hey and you sing it almost correct! i don´t no where you´re from but you sing well

  • @tjerkguitar : Thanks Tjerk, Compare to Mongolian language, the Dutch is piece of cake..lol.. Im heading to try to sing the Mongolian anthem now...;-)

  • @Stinkvinger1 Thanks!. regards from ShuBun

  • @Stinkvinger1 jij ook :P

  • You've got the first and the sixth stanza down.. now the remaining thirteen ;)

  • Are you sure you want to hear all thirteen stanzas ;-) haha. It will take me ages to make the video in one take without struggling the words. lol.. thanks for watching and have a nice day !

  • Haha I was just implying that the Dutch National Anthem is really long :P
