I have one with the 2.26Ghz P8400 Dual Core, 2GB RAM, 160GB SATA HDD, and the Intel GMA X4500. Mine has a PCI express slot so it would be possible to add a dedicated graphics card if I could find another one out of a similar T500. I also want to find a 9 Cell battery for it as my 6 cell is a bit run down. Do you know where I could possibly find parts for my T500? Perfectly good laptop but there are others out there with better parts in them so it would be worth a look.
I had bought a T61 and I really didnt enjoy it, I had bought it to replace my old R61i so I than saved up and got a brandnew R61out of the box with 1 year warrenty with the Nvidia NVS 140M I couldnt be more happy except no finger print reader. I wouldnt switch right now to the R500 or R510 sometimes the original are better.
The T500 in this video had 6 cell battery which does not stick out. But the T500 I have now is different and has a 9 cell battery which does stick out but its worth it!
My new T500 has ATI mobility Radeon HD3650. I am not much into graphics stuff and its dynamics but I have been playing COD4 on this and it works great. No flicker, no stuck, no slowness, absolutely nothing.
Apologies for late reply because I could not get time to test call of duty my self so... Any ways, I just got my new T500 with T9900 processor (3.06Ghz) with 4GB RAM and that for sure can handle COD4!! I just tried it and it worked flawlessly.
As for the fist question, I honestly don't know what is in T400. I think only display size is different btw two models. I don't see any problem with T500 display as well.
Well, I don't simply like it, I love it!! Its a very good machine. On the other hand, I have not looked much in to t400s so, my apologies for inability to give any suggestions.
Thanks for the quick response! I've done some research and the t400 is exactly the same just with a 14 inch screen instead of 15, this video made me want to purchase one, such good deals atm too! can get the same config for about $800 new!
dr. waseem, i am confused between buying a mac or a lenovo pc... with the exact same specs which one would you trust as a long term investment.... i do a lot of graphics like sketch, adobe, autocad and stuff like that... pls advise
Sorry for the late reply. Well, I am neither a mac user nor know very well about macs. Some people love macs, some don't. Any of my comments regarding your question would be misplaced, as such. I am a PC user and I think lenovo can pretty much handle your requirements. Whether it can do it better than mac or not? I sincerely and honestly have no idea.
there are only very few t500 videos online. it would be really great to see antoher video, e.g. as a short review (or just a video where you boot it and show the display etc...).
I would be glad to upload the sort of video you mentioned but can not promise the exact time. Now a days, I am stuck with my tight class schedule and the like but I will try my best to come up with such video as soon as I get time.
just bought a t500 and r400 recently. They are extremely nice, with the inbuilt wwan and displayport on the t500 finally I can use digital signal on lcd without the dock or the usb2dvi converter.
Well, I have not used this functionality yet but I guess this would be cool. I am stuck with using a PCMCI TV tuner card with my laptop. It fits in my other dell computer but does not fit in this T500 and I have no idea why its like that!!
Mine is coming Monday. You mentioned something about a refurbished unit you had before, or something about having one where the lid wasnt fitting right? What was the issue you had exactly with that?
I ordered a new one.. hoping there are no fit or finish issues with it! (i dont want to wait any longer for fixing any issues haha)
It was actually a refurbished one with the top left lid corner broken and the lid was deformed in a way not to fit properly with the base when its closed.
I hope you would enjoy your T500. Its a good machine. Thanks for comments though!
Hey.. vPro is a intel business technology.. should not make a lot of difference unless your in a large company with need of remote controlling and such. Great video :-) Im looking to buy a T400 soon.. but the T500 looks good as well.. :-S choices, choices.
Well, its a tricky question. If I just work on word etc, it gives about 3 n half hours. If I don't do any thing and just leave it there on battery (under battery saver settings) it remains on for close to 5 hours. I haven't tested it much on battery though.
5:03 ...yea thats exactly how I felt when I opened mine and saw for myself that the flex was there! flex may be "not bad" but just that its there is a bit annoying.
i gotta say there are some pretty cool features about this laptop... the fingerprint reader, back/forward buttons, power manager (great one),etc. but also some negatives: the famous keyboard flex issue, the battery wiggles when its mounted, the thinklight doesnt really light that much (backlighted keyboard anyone?)
You are right because if you notice it you would find the flex. As I am not tough on the keyboard and tend not to thing about the flex, I seldom feel it!! Well, I don't have a backlighted keyboard!! Any one has it??
Hi!, I just recently just bought a T500, off of the lenovo outlet..and it's still in the process of shipping...I was wondering did you re-order this from the outlet?Did you pay a restocking fee?How long did it actually take to get it to you?and i'm kind of scared now because i'm reading that the outlets sometimes send out the wrong specifications of the labtops..well I hope you and your t500 are fine ..thanks the up's and video
I did not have to reorder the stuff and it took it almost 3 weeks to reach me after ordering. I am not sure about the exact time so.... I have not heard about these guys sending you the wrong specifications and even if they do, just call them and tell them and get it replaced. No need to be scared. Good luck and always welcome.
So far, this machine has worked flawlessly!! I have not noticed any problem with palm rest. It seems fine and is not soft either. The only soft plastic piece which I find painful is the one on the left side which makes up the roof of the PCMCI slot, rest is alright. I hope I satisfied your query. good luck!
How do you like the T500 so far? I was going to buy the T400 because I like the smaller 14 inches monitor, but since the T400 doesn't have the DVI or HDMI output, I am considering to buy the T500 instead. I saw the review for the T400 and I am concerning about the soft plastic palm rest near the touchpad, does the T500 also have the some problem?
Thanks for the comments. I am extremely satisfied with this machine. It has worked flawlessly till now. With Windows Vista Business, its the real taste of using vista and moreover, because its a 32 bit system, you would not have any serious compatibility issues (that's if you are switching from XP to vista now). It doesn't look cute neither has a very shiny glossy screen, in short, no fancy stuff but has real powerful "under the hood"!
Would love to see more reviews from you regarding other products.

On the t500 do you have the 6-cell battery or 4-cell. I know on the t400 the 6-cell sticks out the back but is it the same on the t500?
