I just placed my order. I lost the stupid paper clip tool that comes shipped with these. Can't say I'll miss it, the piece of crap. The short tool costs just as much as a replacement L-tool. The choice is obvious.
I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know the tools worked fine with my early vintage Ultra CDP 3" (not a II series), I spoke with someone at your shop and he was extremely helpful and courteous. I couldn't be more pleased to see the last of that factory 'L' shaped tool.
Great job these folks at New Designz is doing so if you own a Kimber do yourself a favor and pickup one or two of these tools and get the added benefit of knowing you're supporting a great U.S. company.
@mspaniol88 Sorry, we do not have anything for the 4" version at this time. All our tools are for the 3" barrel Kimbers. Wish we had better news, Thanks for asking.
@TheGunsNGearChannel We are the manufacturer "NDZ Performance", basically everything we produce is manufactured in house, right here in the good ole USA. Thanks for looking.
Its all pretty much personal preference. I like the full silver look of the stainless with the alloy frame. The black finish is holding up just fine, but I'm sure as it starts to wear over time the such as the corners may show up more vs the silver will hide it much better. Either way, we like them both. I have always liked the 1911 style and function. Our tools make the breakdown process easier. Hope this helps and Thank you.
I know it's not super vid related I'm trying to decide what model I'n the ultra line (Cdp crimson cary. tle. Raptor or base line ) to get any Insight you would give would help lots
Thanks. After watching your video, I purchased the combination package of tools, and it does make field stripping my Kimber Untra Carry so much easier. I hated that crappy paper clip tool. I still don't understand why Kimber altered the 1911 in this way.
Thats why I like the standard 1911 GI platform. I think the guide rod is at all necessary on a 1911. At least I haven't seen any relevant info explaining why it is better.
Just bought the combination of both and look forward to using them. On a totally unrelated question; aren't those Wilson grips on your Ultra? I thought about sending mine to them for a trigger job and just wondered if you have had them work on your Ultra and what you thought.
You will certainly like the tools, Thank you. As for the grips, yes they are Wilson and work and look great. The cut is perfect and allows for a real good non-slip grip. Sorry, no trigger job. I really don't mod my carry piece. Thanks for asking and enjoy.
Thanks guys. Just to answer a question people have on the short tool.
Whats the purpose of the short tool if you have the long? The recoil spring is under high pressure when the long tool is installed. The short tool make easy work when you wish to remove the recoil spring for thorough cleaning. Trying to breakdown the recoil spring with the long tool installed can be slightly tricky with the possibility of putting the cut portion of your spring into your finger.
@CRC1770 Yes, but they stick out of the bottom, and I have had a lot of mis-feeds with the standard mags. I purchased extra Kimber mags, and they work flawlessly.
Many thanks.. Just ordered the long tool for my Eclipse Ultra II...

Sorry we do not, we have reviewed this application and at this point we see no way of making this type of tool work.
