  • You are a real inspiration, you music just makes me smile :)

  • @betty3041 Thank you for very friendly words,Vic.

  • @whiteej21 Very wisely spoken,Jazz brings us back to the essence of things, like every pure Art-form it demands the utmost from musicians, one or two books are OK but playing, adapting theory and searching for the own inner-voice a million times better, I still play a few hours every day, just because I love it,Vic.

  • @whiteej21 Thank you, I agree with Larry Carlton: Hard work gets the job done, Vic.

  • Loved it

  • @archicad6 loved your comment,Vic.

  • Hi Vic, yes I especially love this piece from when you start playing the chords as the melody really rings out. I also play this piece but I play the melody lines with the single guitar notes as well and then improvise much in the E Aeolian mode as it is in the key of G.

  • @jmsbk12345 Thanks you're right about the tonal center but it's very interesting to play "Altered notes" over the D7 and B7 chords. Keep on playing,Vic.

  • Loved the chord part specially! Great job man.

  • @GEternalBraid Thanks check out my newest,"A day in life" finger style tell me what you think. Vic.

  • GreAt.....

  • Lovely and smooth, nice playing man

  • @Rg1527 Thanks an open invitation to listen to my other side, check out my new Vid: Daydreamin tell me what you think,Vic.

  • ok man, you are a really magister

  • Thanks lawdroppeplato, thanks for your nice reaction and stars,Vic.

  • awesome playing Mr.Vic I am amazed you're playind not like everyones lol!!!

  • Thanks Malmsteen, well I always play my own thing and don't copy much from other folks, the only guys I copied to learn where, Wes, Kenny Burrel, Joe Pass, anyway those type of players, greets Vic.

  • yea, the playing is good but...when Mr Vic. you get into chord melody at the end of the song...

    it's fantastic.

I'm inspired by the way you play!!!! thanks!!! and I enjoy olso the choice of your guitars!

  • Thanks ggparma1, I started without theme introduction because I wanted to solo one chorus more. Thanks for your very up-lifted commentary, greets Vic.

  • wow! all i have to say is, wonderfully played! i'm a guitarist as well and ive been playing for 8 years now no tutoring whatsoever. i watch videos to learn something and i've learned something here. thanks!

  • Thanks brickster27,that's my intention to pass on my playing experience, your reaction is one of much more appreciation than the one before you, only complaining bout the backing track, definitely guys who take all for granted on YT,cheers Vic.

  • I hate the tone of the backingtrack.

Well played though. If this is improvisation, go on stage.

  • @osnopi Been doing live stages and smokey joints my whole life brother and it got me no where, let the younger generation give it a try,I'm playing for my own pleasure now and for your info: I always improvise,Vic.

  • Love your tone reminds me of a kenny burrell kinda feel

  • @jp0pz nice you mention him, great player, ofcourse he's on my list of favorite jazz guitarists, vic.

  • What a handsome young man!

  • @adr426music17 Handsome OK but young? lol greets Vic.

  • @Jazzguts The body may be old... but the soul stays young thanks to music

  • @adr426music17 I didn't expect this philosophical reply but it's quite true, music is one of the greatest Art forms and keeps the Spirit sharp,Vic.

  • LOVE this.. :) I'll subscribe :)

    Thanks,

    Éva

  • Thanks Eva,you're always welcome check out more of my Stuff you might like it,greets Vic.

  • This is the best version of Autumn Leaves that I've ever listened too.

    Matt

  • Thanks Matt,glad you enjoyed,it's a great standard to study,greets Vic.

  • Wow! You are a great inspiration for me. Thank you very much.

  • Thanks dimfifth, glad I am, hope it inspires you to develop your style further, keep working at it,Vic.

  • Wow, I'm really impressed. That was fantastic!

Thanks for sharing this with us!

Greetings from a guy who would love to be able to play such solos,

    - Leo

  • Thanks Leo, keep working at it man,and do a lot of listening, greets Vic.

  • That's what I found out is the most promising way of learning to play jazz guitar...unfortunately. :D

    Nonetheless, I keep trying.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks man,you know the old saying, the one who keeps trying wins, greets Vic.

  • Excelent work!!

  • Thanks sonicmore,Vic.

  • Very nice ! One day I can do this too :)

  • Thanks, that's the Spirit, wanting something can make achieving it, success,Vic.

  • Vic Your guitar playing is always an inspiration !!! : )

  • It's great to hear that there are people like yourself out there who don't take everything for granted and show their kindness ,it's heartwarming for me,Vic.

  • Vic That is a great solo..Well played !!!

  • Thanks Sirone,always welcome,greets Vic.

  • great version.....i watched it several times. i am learning jazz/ playing it this slow helps me learn the changes......by the way you remind me of an airline pilot with those headphones on

  • thanks thelovesickboy, the pilot looked a lot at me and decided to wear earphones, just kidding man, hope my vid helps with your Jazz study, greets Vic.

  • Victor, amazing guitar work, love your style and approach to the song. as a beginner getting into jazz would you mind telling me the scales/ modes that your using to solo over the Em autumn leaves?

  • i love the way you play the head with a combination of single notes and chords. is there any place i could find that arrangement or is it your own?

  • Thanks Blues, this is a head arrangement of myself,I love harmonizing themes,it's not on Tabs, but I'm getting many requests from guitarists for my Jazzwork, for my finger style work I sometimes sell some arrangements, making scores is quite some work,Vic.

  • Another fantastic vid man! love your style!

  • EggTheBox, thanks, glad you enjoyed ,much appreciated, greetings Vic.

  • smooth

  • Thanks juanes, one good chosen word, greets Vic.

  • A hight level improvisation Vic.You have a peculiar way to say things in a very clear lines, great n beautiful...wounderfull maestro.I thin u have ur own voice n it mark the difference thans for this

  • Thanks Pepe, great coming from a maestro on the sax, with great ears and musical taste, glad you enjoyed and I'm very glad with your positive visits, thank you,Vic.

  • One word to describe your playing style:

"Classy." I've seen a lot of covers that just try and play as fast and flashly as possible...I think a lot of guitarists could stand to learn a lot from watching you play.

    Myself included.

  • Thanks TheSki... great comment, I learned a lot by listening to Miles Davis,an excellent example of space between the notes, also Monk and Count Basie, they never crammed the Music full of notes, I think that's very un-musical. Cheers Vic.

  • Sounds really good. I just started improvising over really basic chord changes today, I know nothing of jazz lol.

  • Thanks oregon... Jazz is freedom with great responsibility, cheers Vic.

  • Thanks, I really appreciate the quick response. Last question, what type of amp are you using?

    Gregg "Happy Guitar" Haynes

  • Hi Happy guitar1, I'm not using an amp here I'm running my signal straight into a 4 channel mini-mixer, from there the signal goes to the audio-port of my PC,greets Vic.

  • It really sounds nice and tasteful!!

  • Thanks happy.. mostly I record like that, the advantage are the EQ possibilities of the mixer to fine- tune the desired frequencies, they go further then a regular amp, greets Vic.

  • You sound great! I have an hollow body as well. What are you using in your F holes to prevent the feed back?

  • Thanks Happyguitar1, I had trouble playing in ensemble getting feedback,so my guitar customizer glued a piece of hard plastic from the inside of the F-hole to prevent that,it helps very well, greets Vic.

  • your version is definatly inspiring

i've been practicing using a couple of licks you've done there and it's definatly helped me,

thanks alot, and keep those video's coming!

  • Hi justpracticing,I remember I the licks I borrowed from Wes, Jim Hall, Kenny Burrell, and so it goes from generation to generation, keep practicing and glad I've been of help, greets Vic.

  • Thanks Frank, for checking this "must" on the repertoire of every Jazz-guitarist and other guitarists as well, glad you liked it, will visit you soon,Vic.

  • Now we have to learn from you dude! YOUR AWESOME DUDE!

  • Thanks Matt.. check out the rest of my Vids, finger style and Jazz, it will take you long cause there are many, greets Vic.

  • very good!!! Excellent!!!

  • Hey Victor,

    Tom

  • i was thinking to buy a guitar..guitars that come to my mind is jackson, les paul & esp..listening to this makes me thinking on buying a fender strat..

  • Hi slvn.. buy a guitar with tone that speaks to your Heart,Greets vic.

  • In that song, for improvising, did you use band in a box software? or where did you get the backing track?

    Greetings from Honduras.

  • Yes Veranek,I did and it's a good ivestment in terms of creating own rhythm tracks greets Vic.

  • beautiful! I love playing this one myself, probably one of my favorite standards. Very well done, and a beautiful tone out of that guitar you got there. Is that a gibson?

  • Thanks,FFT, this is an Ibanez GB 20 (george Benson concept) but it's taken out of production now, greets Vic.

  • Very good, very original you play the "theme" only in the end.

    long life to jazz \o/

  • Thanks Gabriel, I had 4 patterns and I wanted to improvise at least 3,that'swhy I came up with this solution, thanks for listening and long live Jazz indeed, greets Vic.

  • good stuff!

What mode(s) are you soloing in?

  • Thanks petruccils.. mainly in Emi natural minor but I do use altered licks over the D79- . Greets Vic.

  • I Victor,

I just responded to this fine version... I hope you like mine! Alla best and keep playing.

    John

  • Hi John, and a mighty fine version that you posted my friend,I just commented on it,greetings Vic.

  • You're a great jazz guitarist, this arrangement is wonderfull.

    Patrice

  • Thanks Patrice, guess you're right I lost my heart in this style, because of the freedom of improvisation, greets Vic.

  • Very nice ideas on this Victor! Some really cool diminished lines. Good continuity throughout your solo :-)

    Paul

  • Thanks Paul, for listening, always great reading comments from a very good player, greets Vic.

  • Hey Victor my friend!

There is no doubt...you are a great and fine guitar-player for sure...

    I like it very much!*

    bless ... manuel

  • Thanks Manuel,I had so many older Vids, that I could share once and a while, thanks for listening, greets Vic.

  • Lovely tone,as ever.Great playing always*****

  • Thanks Paul, knew you would like this nice standard, always a joy to play it man, while all those melodies keep coming, greets Vic.

  • Super Vic, this time you began the other way around started out with some great improvisation and brought us back to the intro. That Lady (guitar) of yours has a sweet and warm sound must feel good in your hands as well, you got your fingers rolling everywhere LOL, thumbs-up 5*, greets your brother John (Willemstad)

  • Yeah, thanks John, man when she's leaning against my body and those notes flow through her hollow body it's like Heaven,no,even stronger I think Heaven's right here if we know how to create it,what about that philosophy?greets Vic.

  • Hi Vic, I'm sketching a couple of layouts to your website pages which I hope to design and make ready to upload soon, keep you posted, greets John (Willemstad)It's a wonder holding her tight in your arms, slapping her in the face pointing her with your finger and still she doesn't mind to sing you all those beautiful tunes, Ha, Ha, it only can be a guitar.

  • Thanks John, you're making me anxious man, if you need any Info just let me know, greets Vic.

  • Beautiful jazz! No doubt that this is an excellent playing, Well done! GOD bless you!

    5 stars!

  • Superlative Tone Vic!

I did not recognise he tume but that sounded really lovely. I would love to be playing like that one day. I can only dream!

  • Thanks Franco, I made a little Joke over here, I didn't play the theme as a Head in the beginning just started improvising right away,I played it at the end though(lol)greets Vic.

  • Great tune, and wonderwell played, Victor!

    Roeleke

  • Thanks Roeleke, when I wanted to share all the time a message came up with internal error,I had no Idea you guys still got these Vids, greets Vic.

  • I also get that message, and have written to youtube, but I think it is also possible it is a disorder in our contactpersons system, but I don't know yet, if it is really so. I am wondering if Youtube can do something about it.

    Roeleke

  • Hi Roeleke, well what we can do is just ignore that message, when the reactions start dropping in you know the message came across,a simple and effective method, lol greets Vic.

  • Yesss (read: Jazz.. hihi) you are absolutely right!!! :-)

  • theres my dream guitar again, being played by one of my idols!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah Pop,isn't she a beauty, sometimes my wife get jealous of her, giving her soo much attention, she feels so good in my hands.LOL,greets Vic.

  • I was impressed and bought a guitar yesterday.

  • Hi delta, treat her kind and give her much attention, greets Vic.

  • Absolutely beautiful!

  • Good thing the Tube, abhikmazumder, you wont find this on the TV,maybe once a while on the radio but in the very late hours when everybody is a sleep,LOL greets Vic.

  • wow. u should sell this to win dixie.

  • it's such a treat to have a guitarist of your ability replying to almost every comment posted. your videos are great. im currently studying my advanced diploma in music performance and am very much inspired by your improvisations. thankyou.

  • davern hello, I'm glad I've inspired you to learn your Tools and be a creative improviser, you know that's a another category than learning a few favorite Pop-tunes as we see so much here on the Tube, with all respect, greets Vic.

  • What do you do for a career. Does it involve music? Im just curious because i will be going to college for music and i don't see how it will .. i guess pay the bills. Don't mind my questions just lookin for good advice from real musicians. Thanks

  • Hi mrshappy, I'm a professional Musician, first of all you have to become a very proficient trade-man (woman) and besides that be a good business man also,be able to organize very good and be able to provide what's demanded then you might earn a reasonable living, greets Vic.

  • Nice! =D

He looks like Solid Snake xD

  • this is your best one so far.

  • That's your choice Max,it's certainly a great standard,thanks Vic.

  • Hi there, I am a blues guitarist, no formal training, and I improvise well along those lines but the older I get, the more I like jazz. Can you give me any pointers as to where to start as far as building a repertoire for jazz?

  • Hi Arno, take simple Jazz tunes like Blue Bossa, check out the basic 2-5-1 progression series on the Site of Jamie Aebersold, that's basic knowledge you need for playing Jazz,I've got two lessons here on diminished that you can benefit from, see playing list on my profile. Most of all start simple and build from there, information is everywhere now a days, greetings Victor.

  • Thank you for your prompt reply, I will take your advice............a

  • love it!

  • awsome equipments.. nice job..

  • Thanks realborisch, glad you enjoyed,Victor.

  • yeahh good sound yeahh

  • i am more to metal and rock song..but this one is very good..very..

  • Hi slyn0393,Thanks I also enjoy good rock but this style I love as well, greets Vic.

  • wow, that sounded very good... good work for sure

  • Thanks man,glad you likedit,greets Vic.

  • Hie Vic.Thank's for your answer. What a wonderful sound!!! Is it possible to get it with a GB 200??? Your 335 Epiphone is well, to. I'm looking for à good Jazz guitare, and I think we can get "the sound" with Epiphone, or Ibanez. And you show it very well.

But, in France, it's hard to find good Epiphone ( Birdland or 335 with Gibson pick up ). I think of GB 200, or the 105 ??

But the best way is to try it.

    All the best.Fred

  • Yes Fred, just use your ears and they will tell when it's right, thrust them because they tell you no lies,LOL.Greets Vic.

  • What a great sound!!!! Is it a GB 200 ???

It seem to be a special Ibanez modele.

Thank's for your answer. Fred ( Nice .France )

  • Hi Fred,It's GB 20, it's an old model from begin 80 ties, bought it before I started my study, instantly fell in love with her,and I still am,she has served me very well, all the best Vic.

  • Great job! You were swinging! :-)

  • Thank you, I always keep the swing ,you know the old Duke Ellington Phrase; It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that......

    greets Vic.

  • great!!!!

  • Wrong key dude. Only the Dutch play it in e minor.

  • Hi Grippo,I hope you don't have anything against the Dutch, besides a Jazz musician has the freedom to chose whatever key can be played in,ever heard of transposing? Let me hear some playing, don't see anything on your channel, greets Vic.

  • I find the true key more endearing, personally, but you did a good solo on this nonetheless.

  • Very nice, but it sounds like your Dutch.

  • Hi Grippo,ha ha ,next recording I'll do in the States then I'll sound American, good sence of humor man,Vic.

  • hello again, I can see also that you know what you are playing... I do not have this knowledge... you have a great feeling as well and again with no pose behind that... my feeling is not jazzy, I can't follow up all those chord changes...I believe in simplicity... I can only play what my mind is singing, and my mind is very simple one... thank you and all my respect for you...

  • Hi Martino, you're a modest man, the way you harmonize and arrange tunes shows a good understanding of melody and harmony,I understand you're not very much into improvisation but you're a very talented and good musician, greets Vic.

  • thank you Victor, well, I am playing for about 20 years so I should already know something about that...I play in the restaurants and about half of the program I play with backing tracks I recorded. So I have a chance to improvise over harmonies but as I said before, I fully rely on my ear...if you check my arrange of Stings Fragile, that's an example of how I do my solo leading.

  • just great!!!

  • Thank you, check out my other Jazz work and leave a comment now and then, greets Vic.

  • Hi Victor, Smooth playing! I just knew you are Dutch without having read your profile. Do you know Jean-Marc Bouyeure?

  • Tell me how you know I'm Dutch,do I look like a Windmill? And who the hell is marc B? How is he related to me? there are so many unsolved questions in this world,Victor.

  • No, you don't look like a windmill, but you could live in it, he, he... I'm half dutch, living in France, J-M Bouyeure is my brother (guitarplayer like me, by the ways), teaching jazz on the "Stedelijk Conservatorium", called Artez nowadays(?) not sure. Hope there are less unanswered questions for you today! What brand is this beautiful guitar you're playing (beautifully)

  • Thanks for the answers,Now I get the picture, haven't seen the Inside of a conservatory since end of the eighties,I'm on my own in this jungle called Music. And my beauty is An Ibanez George Benson GB-20,I'll take her along in my Coffin(I think)Greets Vic.

  • hi Victor you play pretty nice, I see your videos over and over, I learn from watch in you playing, I live in Guatemala thanks. oscar

  • Thank you Guatemala, enjoy my Stuff it's on the Tube for the world to see, who could have thought of this miracle a few years ago, greets Vic.

  • Hí Victor

Nice playing impr. to this famous song!

I will try to play with You on this video with my Chrom. Harmonica and if it is good I will make a video on Y Tube, If its OK for You?

    Johnny

  • Hi Johnny, isn't it better to record your own version cause I didn,t leave any space at all here for you to improvise, don't you think that's better you'll have much more freedom to play, greetings Victor.

  • Hello there!

One months ago, I almost forget my quesiton to You! Sure, you quite wright there so I stick to my backing tracks!

When I lessen to good music I tend to be overentusiastic sometimes.

    Johnny

  • buen tema amigo felicidades me gusto

  • Ola Hector gracias por tu commentario, siempre me gusta tocar este "Standard" hay milles de melodias en mi cabeza, hasta luego Amigo.

  • fine fine playing and beautiful shiny guitar.

  • Thanks trouble for hopping by, I knew you where comming so I polished my Jazz guitar to welcome you, will visit you soon my friend.

  • Very fluent! You make it seem very easy to make a good melodic statement on this oldie (I know it's not).

    I gave it a ***** rating.

BTW: do you gig in The Netherlands? I would love to hear to you play live with a nice combo.

  • Thanks Tele, loved your Satin Doll(very musical) now and then I do some live playing, and I'll certainly inform you when I'm playing with quartet again, stay tuned for "Wave"(Jobim) comming up.we'll keep in touch, greets Victor.
