It's called an additive glow effect, the script isn't part of the unity assets and is a custom image effect. It takes the brightest colours and makes them glow. So where the light hits the carpet, the colour there is most vibrant.
The shadows are done via a series of projections.
Google sketchup has a low level low quality rendering code so people can smoothly continue making large models with so many thousands of vertices without constant lag or errors.
Once I have made my models and export them out of sketchup I use a program named lynx3DviewerLite, to allow me to view it and show what it will look like fully rendered.
I made a video about it on my channel so others could find it.
It's useful to see whether its worth exporting to unity3D.
Do you use Sketchup Pro to export the .FBX or are you using another program? I have the free version and I am looking for a free program that will actually work. I tried Blender to convert it, Autodesk FBX conventer but both of them did nothing. Do you know any others? Thanks
I'm learning some basic stuff, and I'm trying my best to make a simple game using AGS... after watching this video, you discouraged me from going on with my game. You seem to be an expert!! could you at least tell me which program you used ? (sorry for my English, I'm Argentine)
Fantastic job. I didn't think Unity was capable of so much. That would be pretty cool to see how to do since I'm working on a game in Unity, maybe some tutorials on how to do that lighting style? Thank you and amazing work.
A couple of tree branches swaying in front of the windows and maybe some lightning effects would make this better, imho. Not that it isn't awesome to begin with, mind you. Very nicely done!
You'll all be pleased to know that the individual who has been selling a replica of this scene (as of one day ago) is currently under investigation. The product has been removed and their account doesn't seem to be searchable. :]
I haven't refused to accept anything but you're right, the picture on turbosquid is certainly of the same scene. I'm going to get in touch with them today and ask them to remove it, thanks for bringing this to my attention.
I was trying to prove that there was no such thing but then I found it. Either you sold it or you liee and got it off the site. And to think I stood up for you.
Making a video responce now because youtube will not allow me to put up the link.
According to TurboSquid, it was published yesterday, meaning someone has uploaded the photo. I'm getting in touch with them to remove it and whomever has done this will be liable for prosecution under international copyright law.
Feel free to post whatever you like, I won't delete any comments.
@Darknight6204 Looking at the model again,I see there is no way it could be real. Look at the file size. Look at the bad wireframe. Sorry I did not notice that before... Anyway Darknight did you post that link just to prove me right? I was just joking and I was having a bad day when I wrote the message saying it was from turbisquid. Honnestly this haunted house is really good. And I was sorry I said that in my anger. It seems that the link is no longer available so that is good too. Good job!
Wow, this is amazing sir. I was reading the comments on your haunted house before you updated it, the comments where some dude was accusing you of the turbosquid thing... All I can say is, sorry for all the a-holes that exist. So much for him posting his "LINK" huh? lol. Great work. If you would be interested in starting some type of project, let me know, if you ever get the time... I am pretty good at weapon and object modeling, but think I could use some lessons from you on level design!
Hey, VirtualAutonomy when you make the whole house for this.. can you post the video? im subscribing to you, i think what you got so far is pretty epic =)
@VirtualAutonomy is a model that comes out of sketchup actually proper? Or do you run the 3ds max optimizer on it before uvw mapping?
The house looks cool, but the floor is just a little bit too bloomy for my taste, but thats preference i guess. I'm not really a fan of those effects in games where a city looks like "glow-ville". Other then that, the lighting comming in from the windows like that is cool. Try adding thunder, with the light flickering on the floor :)
Exactly how did you make the "lanterns" on the walls? You place a point light inside a object and make it glow somehow? I am kinda new and haven't found any tutorial about this :3
@monsterkatten He probably used a Self-Emmisive shader on the object. This makes it light up. Then he probably used the "Bloom and Flares" image effect to get it to glow (Unity Pro only). No point light required
This is awesome work big time. Id love to now how you did it. Id love to do things like this, but I dont know how or were to start can you please help me out. Thanks
You should continue making this a make it a FPS game. i had a dream of a haunted house exacly like this! but ps1 graphics, and you walk around and can pick up stuff and all this wierd shit happens. like i walked into a bathroom. and the door shut on me and this ghost pops out of the shower. shit scary but awesome. and there was a little girl standing in the in a room with a light shining of her and when u get closer. she dissapears
With the things i seen in your videos, i bet you should try to make a little Medieval game or somethin then release it to your views, may take some time :)
Wow, much better than the first, I almost got goosebumps. Awesome work!
Only one minor mistake that I noticed is that your light from the windows that drops on your floor suddenly narrows, maybe because you used a lightmap (nic line-out of the window on the other wall) and some extra lights (the big rectangles on the floor).
I've seen you've used a flashlight in the first vid, maybe you could try to do this again and delete the rectangle shaped lights? Keep up the amazing work!
Could you tell me how you made the lightsources? Just a glow effect or?

Great Little Map. Waiting for a Creepy Ghost to arrive or the Character Model.
Question, did the geometry in your modeling software somehow look different in Unity3D?

It all takes time but I planned it in advance, so everything in this scene is modular, the wall panels, the window segments etc...
Now it's as simple as moving a few things around and I have a new room. Getting the foundation style right is what's important.
