Is it too bloody hard for them to direct the questions at Gurrumul, no wonder the English have a bad wrap!! I mean come on he is not a child. This man deserves a Nobel Peace Prise.
An Amazing Man with a unique voice!!! I cannot choose a favourite song, because they are all BRILLIANT......Sung with passion straight from the heart....WOW.....
Feel very priviledged to have seen him live in London when he was here 2 years ago. Very touching and emotional singing. One does not need to understand his language to understand that he sings from his heart. Truly with pasion. all the time.
There is a discrepancy between the people who know about Gurrumul's language abilities ( Australian) and those who don't (the British). It's ok, but if the poms could listen just this once, they might learn something.
And yes, the poms will retain the Ashes this time with your United Nations 'national team'.
There are cultural differences which the British never respect, and assume he doesn't understand English. Aboriginal Law is very strict in respect of talking with strangers. What a pain that woman is, can't she get that plumb out of her bum?
Pardon me, but why won't the friend translate fully to Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu the questions which other people wish to ask him?
The gentleman can choose to answer--or not--any questions directly put to him, but he won't be able to even make a decision unless someone bothers to relay to him the full question, will he.
@gagothesith, he can speak english well enough to understand the hosts questions but is incredibly shy and uncomfortable in the spotlight. His friend knows this and is more of a minder and collaborator than translator, thats why he feels comfortable answering for him. I guess its easier to say he's a translator than explain that.
@patyboomba Your attempts at mind-reading are admirable, but it does not address the point in the rhetorical question posed.
GGY's shy temperament is no secret. He nonetheless agreed to an interview, not a mere performance. The programme's host nonetheless asked that a question be posed directly to GGY himself--the question was not even relayed, the supposed 'translator' simply answer the question himself.
GGY did not even demur--the question was not even relayed to him.
@gagothesith Gurrumul does not NEED a traslation because to a certain degree he understands english, that is not the problem. His mate knows that his shyness means any direct question on a live breakfast television program will be met with awkward silence. The ironic thing here is that his friend does not actually speak Gurrumul's aboriginal language (Yolngu) so an actual translation is not only unneccesary but impossible. May I add I despise myself for engaging in youtube debate with a sith.
It's amazing, the music that gets shown on British breakfast TV. Here in Australia, we have to put up with shit like Pink and The Veronicas all the time.

@chitchant There's nothing wrong with Camilla, he should have been allowed to marry her the first time, and not that shifty eyed avatar.

By the way "GGY can speak English well enough" is wrong.
Geoffrey Gurrumul Yurupingu hardly knows English. So much for mind-reading.
