Hey Ryan, I know it's disgusting, but you can save yourself 180 by just getting someone to spit the blood mixture onto you, it's as accurate as you want and you can control exactly how much you want each time! That's true low budget film making right there!

We have tried the old pressure pump a few times in the past and were never satisfied with the results in the end. The machine you picked up looks a lot better and we may have to look into it.

Just wanted to add that not only is Film Riot a great place to learn movie effects and techniques but the acting is actually spot on and fantastic, keep up the great work boys.

@TheTLTLHeadquarters looks up the co2 squib on google, first link. You might find it helpful also because its completely safe but looks decent. I must say that i have not built one yet myself though but plan to.

@TheReelFilmGeek thanks for the advice, we have been convincing ourselves to try and stick to post production blood because of the problems we were having and not being able to make our own squibs, but the fake aspect really shines. We really want the on location blood to work well and then add more in post afterwards. Ryan's technique in this video looks great i must say.
