  • this song makes me think of a time in american history when all life was simple. The world of ranchers, rustlers, coal miners and railroads and the littleman in society. If you like this version of the song listen to it by Mumford and Sons they give the same bluegrass tone with a more updated sound.

I will take my last breath in North Carolina.

  • MERICAAAAA

  • Best Drunk Song By Far TFM

  • nothing better then going down the highway heading home from the bars and singing this with your buddys

  • For everyone who thinks this was written by OCMS it wasn't, it was written by Bob Dylan but never recorded. Lots of bands have a version of it.

  • @DeadTreeProductions1 From what i've learned, dylan wrote the refrain but never finished it. And OCMS filled in the verses. I could be wrong though.

  • I know this is frome the States, but the music in my small Canadian town is so simalar... It's bringing me nostalgic tears from when the railway went through my town for some reason.

  • Merica!

  • i love this song!!!!

  • this song reminds me of when i was in the service, made me feel like i was "coming home" well I'm home now and this is bittersweet...

  • @bunker053170 FaF actually haha

  • Hearing this at parties is always the best cause everyone sings it. somehow a big drunk harmony.

  • @TheDat897 aha so true. At Uni, once all my friends are back from the bars, someone always picks up a guitar. Once these chords get played, everyone gives it their all.

  • Who the hell would dislike this song? My God, many idiots in this world.

  • @tim24tn the 39 beiberites who have never heard good music would be my guess

  • Every time I walk due south, I always look for that trucker out of Philly...

  • im not from the US, but this song make me vane spend a life time in that country

  • @fumofu99 America is the greatest country on the planet, you would love it.

  • @fumofu99 It's nothing like this song. You want a good representation of the U.S., check out the song Graveyard by The Devil Makes Three

  • now this is a song you can tap your boot to

  • Old Crow Medicine Show = Dr. Quinn

  • this song mentions my hometown. which is all the more embarrassing

  • My momma used to rock me, then she took an arrow to the knee.

  • the video is INCREDIBLURgH

ps your a cunt... just sayin'

  • @jake92sc damn straight

  • proud to be an American but a Southerner by the grace of God

  • your a lot better than liv2sing288

  • :)

  • love this damn song!

  • Is the picture at :24 the Farm and Wilderness lake? Because it looks so much like the BDC cove. If nobody has any idea what I'm taking about just ignore this.

  • Ken Burns overload.

  • FUF- fantastic umbrella factory

  • Maybe you could be a bit more literal with your choice of image to accompany each line. How about a picture of a rock when they sing 'rock'? Or a picture of a mother every time they sing the word 'mama'?

I couldn't believe it when I saw a picture of a trucker followed by a sign that said 'Roanoke'!

A little imagination wouldn't go amiss here!

  • @Waterloonies seriously? I think it's a great video...people will complain about anything I guess

  • @bucsnbraves13 But don't you see my point? Its far too literal. I mean, every time they sing the chorus there's a picture of a wagon wheel! Every time they sing 'Southbound train' there's a picture of a train! There's no imagination there. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying, if you're going to put this stuff on here try to use a little bit of artistic endeavour. You know, maybe these are metaphors?

I love this song by the way, and I love this band.

  • @Waterloonies Ha at one point there actually is a mother and a son when it says mama. I agree with you though.

  • CAMP DOWNER!!!

  • check mine out!

  • I just said goodbye to a most Beautiful Soul & dear friend 2nite. This is her fav song which I have learned 2 love almost as much as her. I have tried 2 stay strong & not shed a tear cuz she is so excited to move back home. I will listen 2 this song 4 the last time 2nite & I am definately sure the waterworks will let lose.

  • i love this song, my best friend in the world passed away sept 14th on a oil rig in north dakota and this was his favorite song and everytime i hear it i get a tear and a smile knowing hes still here

  • @marne2628 but he's not, you just said he died. are you keeping his corpse around nearby or something?

  • @relativityparadox He is in a sense, his physical form may have dispersed but every atom that was in his body is still in existence.

  • @relativityparadox Really man? His friend passed away and you're gonna crack a snarky comment like that off?

  • @Larrys1338 I don't think it was snarky. I think it's beautiful that when we die we are literally still here.

  • @notyetaladie I think the comments are getting mixed up. I was talking to the guy that made the off color comment about his friends corpse. O.o

  • @marne2628 RIP

  • i never get tired of this song, i can listen to it for hours.

  • Really Missin' a dear friend 2day...& she's not EVEN left 4 'Carolina yet...this is her fav song & now mine 2---3:13---Will miss U Nii joos!(this means 'my friend' in our language) Taker lite & B safe!!! 10/10/11

  • im 22 and black but none of that should be relevant when ur listening to MUSIC. this is feel good music everyone should be able to enjoy...

  • Biggest mistake of Bob Dylan's life! he thought this song was garbage man bet he is regretting it now.

  • @mankabbage Old Crow did a better job with it than Dylan could ever do, in the same way that Hendrix did Watchtower better than he ever dreamed. 9 out of 10 times Bob is the only person I can imagine singing his songs, but every once in a while he can sit back and be the greatest songwriter ever and not just the greatest singer-songwriter ever. Plus, he only wrote the chorus; Old Crow brought it to life, and they deserve credit. Im sure both respect each other's contributions to the song.

  • nice vid man

  • I think I just got 'half-wood' listening to this little diddy...

  • Lived in Nc for 18 years =] This song will be played AT LEAST two times a night when we party! But we play it on the banjo and guitar around the fire. I love this life!

  • these guys aren't rednecks. I grew up with rednecks. they could never write a song this good.

  • I'm a yankee girl...but Goodness gracious do I LOVE this song <3

  • Redneck is a good thing. The world could use a few more of us. Work hard and play hard. We say grace and we say ma'am. Never known a redneck to even care about what a yankee's opinion of him was. The thing about most yankees is that if you give'em an enema, you can bury them in a matchbox

  • @botifigus But Rednecks are also racist and intolerant. One love motherfucker

  • somebody do a sick mashup

  • @kevinthematthews thats a disgusting comment in my humble opinion.

  • @kevinthematthews geed...

  • i just started a new band, and this is one of the songs we do. singing it is pure joy.

  • we sing this song at my university :P when all the houses are in the same place, we all hate eachother til we sing this song, its really a memorable song

  • We sing this song at Camp. <3

  • Only the best song ever!! <3

  • Memories of this song: Fishing off a pier in Hatteras, NC at night. Having fun with a friend we met fishing in the Atlantic.. I love NC and I wish I lived there now. Once I turn 18 and get a good job..

  • Walkin' due south outta roanoke, I caught a trucker outta Philly, had a nice long toke...

  • @joshweaver1001 I love the way u Rednecks get a hard on and pound ur chest like it's ur step son. Why don't u make a trip up to the NW and we'll show u some NW hospitality! Just is case u didn't comprehend that, let me put it in simpler terms. I will even type slow so you can keep up. ah love th' way yo' Rednecks git a hard on an' poun' yer chess like it's yer step son, as enny fool kin plainly see. Whuffo' doesn't yo' make a trip up t'th' NW an' we will show yo' whut a real beatin' is like!

  • @RHeweyL You think a bunch of yankees can take a bunch of rednecks? I havent been a redneck ever but you know what now im starting to like becoming one and let me tell you something we work for everything we got we have alot of history and tradition we fight for things that keep us going you think you can beat rednecks in a fight? haha eat ya a little more corn beans and cornbread cause you aint beating us like you are now

  • @tarheels50fan Let history be the judge, Yankees 1, Rednecks(Confederates) 0! BTW my original post was actually a backhanded compliment of this band, but some of the less articulate of your clan decided to take offense to it! I would pay to see these rednecks in concert, for which i am pretty sure they would even refer to themselves that way.

  • @RHeweyL Talking history? 1 Thing happened that changed the course of the Civil war 1 man Abe Lincoln and he wasnt what you call a "Yankee" back thien there wasn't such a thing because back then you had to work hard for everything you got yankees today are lazy and do nothing but sit in an office building somewhere doing easy crap besides "clan" you used articulate a big word then made yourself look dumb by saying I was in a clan when I am nto even a "redneck" good job

  • Possiblly one of the best songs ever!!!!

  • @joshweaver1001 Calm down dude, that guy's nothing but a troll trying to get a rise out of you. Ignore the troll and listen to the song again, because well, it's a damn good song much more deserving of your time then useless internet fighting.

  • I`m from the south of Brazil, and here we have a diferent culture of the rest of country. We say " fuck all the rest , we're from south!". Everybody thinks brazil is soccer, beaches and bitches... yeah, you're correct, but in the shouth is different.

And I love the southern culture, your culture is veri rich.

  • @LeeHO6262 you do know that this song was written by Bob Dylan right? a anti hate anti racism pacifist. and country was invented by black people.... Get an education

  • @DUHBOfficial I'm waiting for the part where you tell me why I would give a shit about your little history lesson. Simmer down, darkie.

  • this is the greatest song ever written
