It is a mantra from Hinduism, the Gayatri Mantra. The melody is actually ancient and from India. Richard Gibbs (I think) arranged it into a more contemporary less folky style.

The two best endings in Scifi for me has been the new BSG and Bab5. Mate, both endings are sad but hopeful and gives you one extra little goody. Closure with a chance of extending the story (if needed).

Though, in Bab5 that did not turn out so well. The whole story extension thing....but that is a debate for another time.

The new series wasn't bad. Just got lost in the Lost-style plots they were trying to create. It got so bad even the writers didn't know what was going on, so you had a mess.

Some really bad episodes, some really good episodes, most were too self-indulgent.

Pity. RM almost, but not quite, understood what Battlestar Galactica was about.

If you think the drama in the new BSG is dull, you've got to be looking at the entire series at surface level only.

It's easily one of the best shows that has ever been on TV. My only gripe is the finale - I didn't like the ending; but everything prior to that is some of the best writing on television.

You don't need non-stop action to be intense.

The first Earth was not OUR earth it was the home of the 13tribe, when you look at the stills you can see it's not earth "Earth" but the one we see at the end of season 4 is. It explains Mitochondrial eve ( Hera) and the blending of all the tribes to one and the breaking of the cycle.

There's Boomer (the eights), the sixes, whichever one Dean Stockwell is (I think the ones), there's the 3's (Diana), the black guy who was a "doctor" when Starbuck was on Caprica, Leobin, and the one they left on the space station at the end of the pilot/mini-series that kind of looks like Kevin Spacey.

That was really really good, i could see that as something that would be used. There were two things though. first, there was one short clip that was used twice, and second, when it says the number of survivors, it is against a blue background, and it feels a little too cheerful. I mean this to be constructive criticism, i loved it, 5/5.

Huh? The original series only ran for 1.5 seasons (22 episodes as "BattleStar Galactica" and 10 episodes as "Galactica 1980").

The new series had surpassed the old one's running time about 2/3 into its 2nd season, and had surpassed the old one's quality about 15 minutes into its pilot miniseries.

Heroes wasn't bad, but BG has that extra level of tension and suspense: a superbe tale with even a more superbe soundtrack. Heroes tended to annoy me sometimes, BG on the other hand grabs you at your throat and doesn't let loose until the end.

Of course there are weaker episodes, but the end of season 3 had me nailed in my lazyboy afterwards for more than an hour... an impressive ending brilliantly combined with a master piece of music. Tension factor off the scale!

Hell, if you got any ideas, im up for it. BSG is the most well written sci fi drama show i have ever seen. Its not one of those SGA or SG-1 shows that change every episode. BSG continues, picking up from each episode.
