  • This is the best performance of "Siniy Platochek" i have ever heard. Can someone tell me who is singing? Even better, can someone tell me where I can find the song itself?

  • @orhanakay78 Oleg Menchikov, from the movie...I think you just have to get the movie.."Prisoner of the Mountains." Superb film.

  • I don't understand his first two verses at all (the ones he sings before the whistling)!

His 3rd and last verses are the first two verses of the original song - but what is he singing in the first two verses?

PS: Been a fan of Menshikov's acting since I saw Mikhailov's "Burnt By The Sun".

I wish there were more Russian films with English subs to watch (trying to learn Russian, just not there yet!)

  • Love the film, great anti war without portraiting one side as bad. Great song btw

  • BELLA CANCION!

  • Ниочём...

  • What's this movie about?

  • about a group of russians abushed by chechens during the first war, 2 of them get taken prisoner by an old chechen man who wants to swap them for his son, in a russian priz camp. the officer is much more interested in escaping, and the younger conscript tries to make friends with his captives. it is based on a story by tolstoy on the caucasian war (in the 1800s) good movie

  • anti-war movie, in general.

  • Thank you for sharing. I saw movie in theaters... and countless times on DVS. You capture perfectly.

  • isnt that song "on june 22nd at 4 O'clock in the morning Kiev was bombed"? with different lyrics?

  • Yes, it is. But it's visa versa, this song "Siniy platochek" was very popular before the war, so people just made different lyrics about start of the war.

  • @DrKorn5 Yes

  • I love, love, love this film! When I first watched it (in 1998 or 1999, I believe) I had to stare motionless, but thoughtful at the empty TV screen when the film was over...

Just the best film about vengeance and reconciliation.

  • beautiful song, beautifully sung.
