@Jurgy631 Its an extra added safety feature probably an eastern trait that is optional. BNSF i think experimented with it in the mid 90s but the eastern railroads made its a standards on their equipment. Its an obvious safety feature and gets your attention. Yet the majority of RRs dont employ it. NS CSX CR WC all have pulsating lights standard. SP had some. The CP CN BNSF, UP, KCS do not. Its required for passenger.

why is it that whenever NS or CSX trains blow their horns, the bottom two lights alternate but you don't see that on the UP or BNSF trains?
