  • what is the song... please. messeges ... :D

  • awesome video thank you!

  • Nice, thanks for the info! I'm way off even attempting it though, gonna get strong on pulls ups, dips and hanging leg raises first. That said, I'm surprised you didn't include pull ups as an assisting exercise, don't you like them?

  • nice video keep trainning!!!

  • One of the best tutorials I have ever see. Also your form is perfect, well done.

  • how many months i should do to achieve a perfect front lever , and can i train on false grip muscle up and front lever at the same week , thanks for help .

  • Can you put in description how long it took you to hold a 5-10 second front lever?

  • @jrk987 Hmm who knows. Approximately a year? But I am self taught, I had to think of my own way of training and progressing to it. Which wasted a lot of time. :)

  • for the front lever your scapula position should be retracted, but you say on the end of the video to round up the back muscles which is incorrect because the scapula is protracted. i just want to clear some things. great video it helped a lot

  • @dacicsak Are you talking about the rubbedbands exercise? If so it's because by rounding up a little at the shoulders you engage the lats better. Which support the lever.

  • @closetoimpossible ahh okay! so its a plus exercise to get more for the front lever! anyway your vids are absolutely helpful, i got the dragon flag because of your vid, so thanks! keep up the good work!

  • @dacicsak Yes it's a plus exercise that hits hard on the lats and triceps! :) You are welcome, my friend.

  • What is your personal record for holding a front lever?

  • @jrk987 I never tried that, I prefer strength to endurance.

  • @closetoimpossible how do you increase strength with front lever? ankle weights or weighted vest?

  • @jrk987 Bingo! Ankle weights are a much better choice than weighted vest though. It's a "level" a weighted vest would actually be pretty much stabilizing the lever and would be much easier to train with than if you put ankle weights!

  • @closetoimpossible Okay well I'm going to get some 20 lb ankle weights but should i get fractional plates instead?

Coach Sommers from gymnasticbodies uses them with his students, but they are a bit pricey, i mean using weighted plates from bench press barbells are quite expensive as well.

I mean I can find some $30 twenty pound ankle weights, but how do you modify it so you can go upwards of 40 pounds?

  • @jrk987 20lbs ankle weights for front lever is immense. Going up to 40 pounds with weights on your ankles is even more crazy. Have you ever tried a front lever with ankle weights actually? :)

  • @closetoimpossible haha no, that's just a "when I get there" precaution

anyway, can you do a planche? if so, you should def. post a tutorial!

or how about the side lever (aka human flag)?

  • @closetoimpossible agreed, i prefer strength as well.

  • hmm well my favorite is front lever swings. would you say they work lats hard ? cause i do them occasionally, and i want to make them a part of my routie .. allongside bent over bb rows, dumbbell rows, pullups, deadlifts and assisted 1 arm chinups ( done separate days, just menioned deadlifts as they also target back)

i can hold a front lever for about 10 seconds ..

  • @xenonnati Hmm, sure they target the lats but I wouldn't say they are the best thing for lats. The other front lever exercises I illustrated in the tutorial are just as good.

  • @closetoimpossible

ok i see. i want to get better at both levers , planche , and handstand pushups.

could i manage to do exercises for these alongside weights. and could i do 3 sets of at least one exercise for each every day , or would that already take it to far ?

  • @xenonnati You need to train every second day regardless if it's bw or weight training. There should be enough rest provided for the body. I used to work rings 2 days per week and weight lift 2 days afterwards. Worked good for me but really exhausted my body so I had to deload soon after. My advice is - sure give it a try but listen to your body, once you feel you are not progressing as smoothly don't hesitate to give yourself good rest!
