You offer some really good advice here. I have to disagree about housing being a good investment. I believe that housing is, of course, necessary for all of us but it depreciates over the years and needs plenty of expensive upkeep. As we have seen in the last few years the value of housing can go down as well. I didn't know about the tax breaks given to foreign investors, that's would be a good reason for U.S. citizens to invest abroad.

I am very disappointed with 60 minutes,

Their report on 401-Ks was irresponsible.

If they showed people in Las Vegas who gambled away their retirement, it would be hard to foster sympathy. People in their 50s should be allocating 401-K funds in low risk income based securities that are insured by the govt. 60 min tries to shun the 401-K system based on anecdotal accounts of a few irresponsible people.
