Actualy , when the Israelis came into Israel/Palestine the palestinians never had to leave. They were offered israeli citizenship and the same rights as other people. Economic and hygiene increased in the cities after that. O yeah , most arabs and muslims declined the citizenship and moved into the desert and hoped that the Jordanian, Egyptian, Syrian or other muslim goverments would accept them into the country but they didnt. So now you have a bunch of rfgs in the desert complaining at israel.

Unlike the immigrant jewish minority, many being veterans of WWII, the farming communities - the majority of Palestine - had no military experience and - thanks to draconian British colonial suppression - no modern weaponry and few leaders not in exile or killed. In a few months time - well before the nearest Arab states declared war on Israel - the significant part of the ethnic cleansing was already accomplished, and the farmers - husbands, wifes and children - had been killed or run off.
I'm surprised to find a quadruple thumbs down for this little bit of historic fact that any Israeli historian will be able to confirm. Grow up, you people, the dispute is about whether ethnic cleansing was righteous in this unique case, unlike all other examples, which are always grave crimes against humanity.
